A Village in Holland wherein u cant find a single road...all transportations are done by boats alone

When Asked To Help

Some people prefer to do favors for others only when they voluntarily choose to do so. But when they are asked, they may consider it a burden.

The benefit of being asked by another person is knowing for certain what this person's needs actually are.

And there is even a way to fulfill this person's request voluntarily. How? By doing more than you were originally asked to do!

If you live in this town, I am sure you would have to help your neighbors a lot!!

Men in Film and courage is a choice

Courage is a Choice

No situation is exactly like any other situation. Every situation is new. Therefore, even if you haven't acted with courage in the past, you presently have the capacity to make new choices when new situations arise.

We each change all the time, either slightly or considerably. The new situations that arise are always more advanced than at any time in the past when you were faced with a similar situation. Let this thought strengthen you in your ability to have more courage than you ever did before.

LUNCH ON THE SKYSCRAPER and attitute is everything!!

This comes from Rabbi Letterman's weekly articles

The Torah tells us how to act properly when going through war and when going through life. The same situation can be viewed from a perspective of holiness and righteousness
or from a perspective profanity and perversity. How we approach daily issues has a profound impact on our lives as the following story illustrates:

Jerry was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be
twins!"

If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. One day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it!
You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to
be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to
learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose
the positive side of life."

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," he said.

"Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You
choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."
Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint
by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was
found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the
bullets still in his body.

I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. The first thing that went through my mind was that I should
have locked the back door. Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the
faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, 'He's a dead man." I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they
waited for my reply. I took a breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I told them, I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."
Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is
everything.

I like planes and Solicit Advice

Solicit Advice

We can all benefit from the advice of wise and experienced people. Besides gaining from their knowledge, we can also gain from their objectivity.

Many students could gain a lot from asking advice on how to concentrate better, how to remember better, how to read faster and with greater comprehension. Many parents could gain a lot by asking for advice on how to create a peaceful, harmonious home where they bring out the best in their children.

Many teachers could gain from consulting master teachers with much experience. Many businesspeople and professionals could gain from consulting experts in their field.

Almost everyone could gain by consulting appropriate people about how to become a better person. Have the courage to ask for advice.

Joke Story.

Estelle Rosenstein, a regular at a restaurant in Miami frequented by many seniors, was once again bothering the waiter. First, she asked him to turn up the air conditioning because she was too hot, then she asked him to turn it down because she was too cold, and so on for about half an hour.

Surprisingly, the waiter was very patient; he walked back and forth and never once got angry. So finally, a second customer asked him why he didn't throw out the Mrs. Rosenstein.

"Oh, I really don't care," said the waiter with a smile. "We don't even have an air conditioner."

Hiking San Diego with my Pal Eli and expect insults when trying to do good

Expect Insults When Influencing Others

The Chafetz Chaim  (one of our great modern sages), wrote: "If you try to influence others to improve, at times they might insult you for your efforts. So before you approach someone, realize you may be insulted and try to accept it. Don't reply to their insults, nor let those insults deter you from your goal. The more difficulties you have in trying to do good, the more elevated you become.

"If you were new in business and an experienced businessman made fun of you, you would not give up trying to make a profit. You would still make an effort to be successful. After a while no one would make fun of you. Trying to influence others is similar. Even though in the beginning some may mock you, if you are sincere [and persistent], they will eventually respect you."

A husband's promises and see the end result

See The End Result

Before you evaluate a situation as negative, ask yourself, "How can I be certain that it will really be negative in the long run?"

Before you evaluate a situation as positive, ask yourself, "How can I be certain it will really be positive in the long run?"

The answer is of course we can not know, what the future holds. However, we do know that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing that does not work over and over and expecting different results.

Use your G-d given brains to think through a situation and then make your best decision and ask G-d to help it to come out to be good.

Enjoy the piece in the fax attached about a husband's promises given to us at a wedding last Sunday.

How to Decide Who to Marry by kids and Choose Patience

Choose Patience

What is the underlying message when someone says, "You cause me to become impatient," or, "This makes me impatient?" The assumption here is that another person or a specific situation is the cause of your impatience.

Actually, impatience is a choice. It is one reaction out of many that can be chosen. If you blame your impatience on an external factor, you are to some degree giving up on your own power to create your reaction. Your reaction in any situation always depends on how you personally and subjectively evaluate and perceive that situation.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming
-- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
-- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
-- Camille, age 10

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
-- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
Both don't want any more kids.
-- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each
other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that Usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?
I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
-- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
When they' re rich.
-- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
- - Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
-- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need
someone to clean up after them.
-- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET
MARRIED?
There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?
-- Kelvin, age 8

And the #1 Favorite is........
HOW
WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.

WHY EMAIL WAS INVENTED and set Reasonable Goals

video
Set Reasonable Goals

"It is not expected of you to complete the entire work" (Pirkei Avos 2:21).

Frequently, a person is discouraged largely because he has goals that are beyond his ability to reach. While we do have much more potential than we utilize, we still are limited in what we can do. We must set reasonable goals. Our sages tell us that we are not expected to complete the work. There is much Torah to study and many good deeds to fulfill.

A person who demands too much from himself will feel frustrated and discouraged and is likely to quit. Therefore it is important to be aware of your limitations. But some people might feel that if they cannot obtain perfection and cannot complete everything necessary to be done, they might as well not even try. In the same Mishnah the Sages state, "But you are not free to refrain from the matter."

Choose the middle path. Try to accomplish as much as possible, but also realize that you will not be able to do everything. Learn to take pleasure in trying to accomplish without feeling frustrated from not being able to finish all that you would have wanted.

If you have to speak to someone in a position of authority, and you are afraid you might irritate him/her, starting with an apology will frequently prevent their becoming angry.

For example, you can say, "I realize this may get you angry, but I feel I need to say it." By telling someone you might make him angry, paradoxically this will frequently prevent his becoming angry.

The Price of Children and nine principles of happiness

The Price of Children.
Power Point Presentation below

One of my most important spiritual teachers has been Rabbi Zelig Pliskin. Like another famous teacher Zig Ziegler, they put the ZZZZ into enthuzzziam.

Love Yehuda

I have found nine principles to be the cornerstone of the emotional base of people who have mastered happiness. At the top of the list is gratitude and kindness.

"Every day in the life of a poor person [that is, someone who keeps thinking about what is wrong and missing] is bad, but a person with a tov lev, a cheerful heart [that is, someone who is constantly grateful for the good in his life], will live life with the joy of a party" (Proverbs, 15:5).

At every moment, we choose whether to live with the distress of the first half of the verse, or whether we will joyfully experience life as expressed in the second half of the verse.

Every time you think about happiness and joy in a positive way, you improve yourself in ways that are consistent with happiness and joy. Individuals who regularly read these nine principles find that their minds automatically create more moments of happiness.

Test it out for yourself. For the next 30 days read this list at least three times a day.

1.I think appreciatively and gratefully.
What five things am I grateful for now?

2. I speak and act joyfully and kindly.
(When you speak and act joyfully and kindly, your brain produces the biochemicals that create joyful feelings.)

3. I assume there is a benefit.
What is good about this?
(Develop the skill of reframing. Find positive ways of viewing events, situations, and circumstances.)

4. I strive for meaningful goals.
What is my goal for now?
(Being clear about your priorities is the first step to accomplishing and achieving goals. Take a step forward.)

5. I see myself being the way I wish to be.
How do I want to be?
(As you picture yourself speaking and acting in ways consistent with your highest and wisest self, you create your ideal self.)

6. I focus on solutions.
What outcome am I looking for?
(If a problem arises, first clarify the problem. Then ask, "What can I do now to solve it?")

7. I let challenges develop my character.
"This too will develop my character."
(Look at difficulties as divinely sent opportunities to upgrade who you are. What quality can you develop now with a challenge that you faced or are facing now?)

8. I consistently access positive states. My awesome brain stores my best states. What state do I want for right now?
(When you give names to your favorite and best moments, you will find them easier to access. Just tell your brain to access the specific state you want to experience now.)

9. I smile and wave to mirrors.
They always smile and wave back to me.
(Research has shown that smiling to yourself in a mirror creates positive chemicals in your body. This works even if you smile without a mirror.)

Read these principles a number of times a day. The more frequently and enthusiastically you review these ideas, the greater the imprint on your brain.

The positive effect is even stronger when you read this list with a friend or group of friends. In a group, having discussions about these ideas will benefit all those who attend. Each individual will have a unique way of thinking and reacting.

Good Deeds Elevate us and What does your constitiution say about G-d?

Good Deeds Elevate Us

When you are engaged in a mitzvah, you are not just doing a mechanical action. Rather, you are transforming yourself into a more elevated person. You are not just "doing," but "becoming."

Today, think of three good deeds you have done in the past that have given you a better feeling about yourself. Remembering these will increase your good deeds and increase their positive effect on you

Invitation to view a video from Yehuda and everything is Relative including your friends

Everything Is Relative

Personality traits are like raw material, intrinsically neutral. Classifying any particular trait as positive or negative changes according to the specific way it is employed by an individual in a given situation. If you utilize each trait in its proper time and place, then that trait is considered positive. But if you apply a trait when it is inappropriate, it is considered negative.

For example, the positive trait of "generosity" can actually be negative if it turns into smothering and stifling. On the other hand, the negative trait of anger can be positive when used to fight against evil and injustice
Speaking of Relative, we learn from the Talmud today that a good friend may be more important to you than your family. Everyone has their own spiritual path and therefore everyone has their own lessons to learn. If you are reading this, (otherwise you wouldn't see this), this lesson must have some effect on you. We spent the trip seeing good friends in Los Angeles and then a good friend in Vegas. As we come back to San Diego today, my good friend and spritiual teacher is coming to San Diego. On my path, friends are my family and I share this with all my good friends who are my life.

YehudaLave sent you a video: "Moses watching over Israel must see" and Build on your Spouse's Image

 Build On your Spouse's Image

If your spouse portrays a picture of him/herself more positively than you feel is accurate, accept it. Build upon it. It is frequently a mistake to try to demolish this picture. By building upon it, you create a more positive future reality.

People tend to act in ways that are consistent with their view of themselves. For example, your spouse might say, "I consider myself to be very considerate." Let's say you disagree and feel that your spouse has a long way to go to fit this picture. You would like your spouse to be more considerate, wouldn't you? Therefore, it is best to express gratitude for the consideration already displayed. By doing so you have a better chance of having a more considerate spouse. If you argue, there is a good chance you will end up in a no-win quarrel. Even if your spouse ends up agreeing with you, it is not likely that your approach will improve their character.

Interesting google earth for those that believe
Moses watching over Israel
Believe it or not
Using Google earth zooming in on to Israel and then into Sinai desert, then turn it 90 degrees to the right and here is Moses, zoom in to his eye and here it is the eye of GOD!
Moses, Aaron and Miriam
Level: Basic

Moses, Aaron and Miriam were the leaders of the Children of Israel at a pivotal time in our history: the Exodus from Egypt and the forty years of wandering in the desert before the people entered the Promised Land.

An entire book could be written on the stories of these three people. Indeed, four books have already been written: the biblical books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, which tell the story of their life and times. This page can only begin to scratch the surface.

The history below is derived from written Torah, Talmud, Midrash and other sources. Where information comes directly from the Bible, I have provided citations.

David Copperfield's Latest Trick and appreciate all you have

video
Appreciate All You Have

Try imagining your life without all that you presently have. If you can master this ability, then you will appreciate what you do have to such a degree that you will live a life of constant joy.

If you were lost in a wilderness without food and water - and then found some bread, you would enjoy that bread more than the most sumptuous meal! Rabbi Simcha Zissel of Kelm wrote that he personally had such an experience, and it was like living in paradise. You will always be able to feel that joy if you use your mind wisely.

Today, spend a few moments imagining what it would be like if you had absolutely nothing: no family, no friends, no possessions, no money at all, no knowledge, no eyes, ears, hands, feet - absolutely nothing. Continue this exercise until you actually feel it.

Then do the second half of the exercise: Imagine yourself obtaining what you presently have, one item at a time

Gabriel .Garcia Marquez says goodby and Happiness without Approval

Happiness Without Approval

If you seek approval, ask yourself why you want it in the first place.
The answer is that you view approval as pleasurable and giving you happiness.
Realize how much needless suffering your approval-seeking causes you. This will motivate you to master an attitude that allows you to feel happy even when people fail to show you honor and approval.

It is ironic that something one wants for happiness causes so much unhappiness. By giving up the demand for approval, you will ensure yourself greater happiness in life.

Pictures you have to see! and do not hate in your heart!!

Replace Hate With Love

The Bible in the third book (Vayikra 19:17) explicitly states, "Do not hate your brother in your heart."

Even the simplest person is commanded not to have envy, hatred, and feelings of revenge and a grudge.

This is such an important and basic obligation that the Jewish people's failure in this regard led

directly to the destruction of the Second Temple.

Is there anyone you hate without a valid reason? Mentally visualize that hate melting away. In its place, visualize compassion, empathy. Now mentally bless that person. Bless him/her that they should treat you so wonderfully that you are filled with love for that person

The pictures below include the moving bill board in Texas, that I sent before and didn't come out. Let us hope for better mazel (karma) this time.

The
bridge (or should it be called tunnel) goes under water to allow movement of ships . In order for ships to pass, this bridge is half under the water. You
drive down in the water and then come out on the other side. Truly a marvelous piece of engineering! This bridge is between
Sweden and Denmark . The picture was taken from the Sweden side.

Enjoy and pass this on. Each email has the potential to be viewed by 250,000 people in one week. What an awesome responsibility we have!

Focus on the Almighty's Kindness

Utilize every opportunity to become aware of the Almighty's

in San Diego. It is of a soup product called Tradition.

improved Tradition??? How can it be tradition if it is

new and improved? Shades of Fiddler on the Roof!!
