Undersea Restaurant and Better to Say Bitter and John had successful surgery

Better To Say Bitter

Rabbi Moshe of Kobrin used to say, "When a person suffers, he shouldn't say that things are bad. Rather, he should say that the situation is bitter. The Almighty does nothing bad. Just as medicine is beneficial, although it might be bitter, so too events are always beneficial even if they are bitter."

John, my son-in-law had successful surgery yesterday, but it is unknown yet, if the tumor they took out is cancerous yet...It will be biopsied next week.  I have learned a lot about testicular cancer from the experience obviously.

Testicular tumors are another kind of scrotal mass. Testicular cancer is mainly a disease of young men, but it can occur in any age, even in children. Any solid mass within the testicle is considered malignant until proven otherwise. There are a few testicular tumors that are benign.

And how did I discover his tumor?? It was only because i had something bitter happen to me, and i had to take Aura with me to see John, and she saw his tumor..If I had not had something "bitter" happen to me, his life would not had been saved!!! So it was not so "bitter" after all!!!

Check Out This Restaurant! How cool is that?

The World's First All-glass Undersea Restaurant Opens

The Maldives | 15 April marks the day that the first ever all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors for business at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. It will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean , surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views.

"We have used aquarium technology to put diners face-to-face with the stunning underwater environment of the Maldives ", says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. "Our guests always comment on being blown away by the colour, clarity, and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it seemed the perfect idea to build a restaurant where diners can experience fine cuisine and take time to enjoy the views - without ever getting their feet wet."

Created by MJ Murphy Ltd, a design consultancy based in New Zealand , Ithaa's distinctive feature is the use of curved transparent acrylic walls and roof, similar to those used in aquarium attractions. "The fact that the entire restaurant except for the floor is made of clear acrylic makes this unique in the world," continues Schieck, "We are currently planting a coral garden on the reef to add to the spectacular views of the rays, sharks and many colourful fish that live around the area.

Isn't that amazing?

Birds of a feather....and Act the Way you wish to Be and a Prayer for John

Act The Way You Wish To Be

There is a basic principle found in the writings of the Rambam (a great early Sage)) and other classic Torah sources: "Act the way you wish to be and you will become that way."

We are influenced by our actions. Take, for example, someone who wants to become a kinder person. By doing many acts of kindness over time, the person actually becomes an authentically kinder person.

Each day write down at least ten positive actions that you did. Write down kind words and acts, blessings that you said mindfully, and positive things that you did even though they were hard to do. Write down when you felt grateful, and when you refrained from saying something that would cause another person distress. Write down an encouraging telephone call that you made.

What will happen when you are resolved to write down ten positive actions each day? You will go out of your way to do them. This will have a cumulative effect on your self-image.

Today Monday, November 29th, my son-in-law, John, an angel on earth if there ever was one, is having surgery for testicular cancer.  Please include him in your prayers.

BE SURE TO READ THE END....

The painters of these feathers are outstanding,
but the message below the feathers, "God's Wings," may touch your soul....

God's Wings
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National
Park, forest rangers began their trek up a
mountain to assess the inferno's damage.
One ranger found a bird literally petrified in
ashes, perched statuesque on the ground
at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by
the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick.
When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried
from under their dead mother's wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster,
had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had
gathered them under her wings, instinctively
knowing that the toxic smoke would rise.
She could have flown to safety but had refused to
abandon her babies. Then the blaze had
arrived and the heat had scorched her small
body, the mother had remained steadfast....
because she had been willing to die, so those
under the cover of her wings would live.
'He will cover you with His feathers,  And
under His wings you will find refuge.'
(Psalm 91:4)

To realize the value of a Friend...lose one.

A VERY OLD CITY FROM 1950's and use all for good with care!!

Use 'All For The Good' With Care

The concept that "whatever happens is for the best" should be used with care. If misused, it could cause harm.

Only use the concept after the fact. When you are able to take action to rectify a situation, take that action. Do not rationalize laziness by saying that "whatever happens is for the best," and hence you are free from your responsibility to take action.

The Baal Shem Tov (one of our great sages from the 1800's-and the Sage who is quoted for saying this principle, and therefore presumably knew both sides to the picture) admonished someone who misused this concept: "It's a good thing you didn't live during the period when Haman made his decree to destroy the Jewish people. You would have said it was for the good."

Of course, there was benefit from Haman's decree. It brought the people of that generation to great spiritual realizations. But it takes wisdom to discern the true good in every situation.

Be careful not to allow negative things to happen because of carelessness, procrastination, or desire for comfort, and then justify your inaction by saying what is happening is for the good. Only when nothing can be done should you accept it for the best.

what happens on your computer when you aren't looking and be a Good-Digger

Be A Good-Digger

When you come into contact with another person, make a special effort to see their virtues.

Not only look for good points, but try to genuinely feel pleasure in discovering a new virtue in someone. A person who masters this trait lives in an entirely different world than someone who lacks it. Everyone he meets has positive elements that he notices, and hence he will show honor and respect to everyone.

Bob Hope in Heaven and mastering Serenity and Happy Thanksgiving 2010

Be Resolved to Master Serenity

Be resolved with a strong sense of commitment to master serenity. The greater your realization of the magnitude of the benefits you will gain, the easier it will be to persevere even if the going gets rough.

Serenity promotes health and feelings of well-being. Your brain functions better when you are in a calm and relaxed state. Serenity increases your ability to think clearly, to concentrate for longer periods of time, to better understand what you read, to listen with greater focus, and to remember at optimal levels. You are more creative when you are in a serene state.

Otter pups swim lesson and talk away sadness

Talk away Sadness

The Chafetz Chaim (one of our great sages that died in the early 1930s) wrote that a person with a tendency towards sadness might be able to overcome it by engaging in enjoyable conversations. But great care must be taken not to talk against other people.

Welcome to the 2010 edition of getting to know your friends. and no bad thoughts

Stop Thinking Thoughts That Lower Your Self-Image

A person creates a low self-image with his thoughts. Someone who constantly repeats demeaning self-talk will build a low self-image. The more he continues thinking and focusing on negative thoughts that lower his self-image, the worse he will feel about himself.

Being around an extremely critical person can be very distressful. But having a very active inner critic frequently criticize what you say and do without letup creates even more distress.

When you consistently think thoughts to build your self- image, these positive statements become stronger and stronger and the old negative ones get weaker and weaker. The neural pathways to the recent life-enhancing thoughts are enlarged and your mind will find it easier to travel this more beneficial path.

Keep in mind that every young child has immature ways of thinking, speaking, and acting. As people grow up the vast majority think, speak and act in more adult ways. Even though the childish ways of thinking, speaking, and acting are stored in the brains of adults, the more mature behaviors become automatic and spontaneous.

Perspectives from the Hubble Telescope and we all have Struggles!!

In life we all have are struggles. Some are harder then others, some leave us scared, damaged. Yet we manage to some how pull through, despite the physical or emotional damage, we come out "whole".

I know, it seems to be a contradiction. Damaged but whole? How can this be. In the bible section this week', our forefather Jacob shows us how this can be.

"And when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh (32:26)"

Jacob's struggle with Esau's angel represents the physical suffering of (exile). When the angel of Esau injured Jacob's hip-joint, he injured his righteous descendants.

In the words of our Sages, this refers to the cruel tortures inflicted by the Romans in  (1st and 2nd century CE) in their effort to eradicate the faith of Israel.

There were other generations in which the same and worse was done to us. We suffered all this and persevered, as alluded to by the verse, "And Jacob arrived, whole. (33:18)".

(Nachmanides)

Just like Jacob was injured by the angel,  the Jewish people have suffered damage time and again through out history. Each time overcoming and pulling through "whole". This too can be applied to our personal lives, each test, each struggle that does not kill us, but only leaves us injured makes us stronger in our day to day lives. Though we don't always see it at the time we will overcome, we will come through it "whole".

Barry Mandilow takes over Las Vegas and Put down Sad Thoughts

I am sending this out earlier than usual as tomorrow morning I will be driving back from Las Vegas after watching Barry Mandilow take over the Paris Hotel and Las Vegas...Enjoy.

I was able to use my flash camera during the whole performance to create the illusion of you being there..(I like it better than a video).  Usually you can't use a flash at a live performance.

Hope you enjoy!!

Put Down Sad Thoughts

When you feel sad, write down which thoughts are causing your sadness. Then challenge those negative thoughts with more positive ways of viewing matters. Writing this down is frequently more effective than just thinking about it.

The Lovers go to La Quinta (Palm Desert and Palm Springs) and Positive Stories

Click below to see yesterday's adventures!!! (Nov 18, 2010)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpRjZW8fpQg

Let Positive Stories Add To Your Self-Image

People love stories. The stories you read and hear about great people are stored in your brain. You become a bit greater yourself with each positive story. Knowing how great people spoke and behaved makes it more likely that you will speak and act with similar patterns. Of course, we won't immediately act exactly like every great person we read and hear about, but we will improve.

The elevating and inspiring stories you read and hear about are part of the process of building your self-image: "I am a person who has added another story about positive thoughts, words, and actions into my brain and mind."

YOUR EXPLANATION of the Financial crisis and Learn to ignore insults

Learn To Ignore Insults

When a wise person is insulted, he acts as if he doesn't know that anything's been said. He acts toward the insult like a deaf person who does not hear and a mute who cannot speak. He walks away as if nothing happened. He does not repeat the incident to anyone.

On the other hand, people who respond to insults - or even worse, tell others how someone insulted them - cause themselves humiliation.

Learning to ignore insults is a valuable skill. Mentally prepare yourself in advance to act as if you are totally deaf when it comes to hearing insults.
