WHY DO WE REFUSE TO LET GO?

THE ILLUSION OF POWER: We review and rehash our painful past, even as we might profess to want to let go of it, because we believe that by belaboring our resentment, we will somehow get control over the person, get him/her to admit to what s/he did and will be able to right the wrongs and get the justice we believe is due or at least "get even" and make them feel the pain that we ourselves have suffered for so long.

THE ILLUSION OF RIGHTNESS: We cling to a futile need to be "right," which overrides the capacity to heal and be at peace with ourselves. We hang on to perceived offences because we don't know any other way of coming to grips with painful feelings of hurt, rejection and abandonment.

Jordanian LAW permits the murder of Israelis

       A civilized STATE -a member of the UN,  and a signatory of the PEACE TREATY allows by law, the murder of Israelis.

Jordanian soldier Ahmad Musa Dakasma, the notorious murderer of seven Israeli schoolgirls, was recently released from prison after serving 20 years. His name is back in the headlines following a series of posts he wrote recently encouraging the murder of Jews inside Israel. Dakasma claims that such incitement is consistent with Jordanian law, citing an addition to the State Security Law of 2013.

Jordanian soldier Ahmad Mussa Dakasma, the murderer of seven Israeli schoolgirls in Naharayim on March 13, 1997, was released from prison in March 2017 after serving only 20 years for the heinous massacre. Many Israelis well remember the kneeling of King Hussein during his visit to the families of the murdered.

If you thought the liberated murderer had repented, or at least come to regret his actions, you are wrong. Dakasma's name has been in the headlines again in recent days after he wrote a series of posts inciting the murder of Jews and encouraging people to carry out attacks inside Israel.

On October 2, he posted this on Facebook: "Every time I'm sad I remember that I murdered a few Zionists [the Israeli girls], and then I feel calm and my conscience is quiet, and sadness leaves me." The post was removed following many requests from Israelis. On the same day, he wrote in another post: "Anyone who calls for resistance and can enter Israeli territory even as a tourist – and does not carry out an attack against the Zionists – is just a talker." This post has not been removed, despite complaints. In another post that was removed, the terrorist called for the murder of Israeli children on the grounds that when they grow up they will serve as security guards.

      Following the uproar on social networks over Dakasma's activity, the murderer told a Jordanian news website, Khaberni, that he was acting according to Jordanian law. He apparently based this assertion on an addition to the State Security Act of 2013 that was passed in the Jordanian parliament and the Senate. The addition removes from the definition of "terrorist" anyone who fights against the "Zionist occupation." According to this section, activity against the "Zionist occupation" is not defined as a crime. As Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Nusur explained, the occupation is a crime and the struggle against it is a right.

     This law permits the murder of Jews and Israelis to go without punishment if it is proven to be part of the "struggle against the occupation." This Jordanian policy bore fruit very quickly. On May 13, 2017, a Jordanian citizen carried out an attack in Jerusalem in which an Israeli policeman was stabbed and severely wounded. The terrorist was shot and killed. After the incident, the Jordanian government attacked Israel. Jordanian Information Minister Muhammad Muamni said, "the Israeli government, as the force responsible for the occupation, bears responsibility for the shooting of the Jordanian citizen."

An ordinary Israeli citizen who is not exposed to the Arab media might wonder why there is tension between the two peoples. The hostility exists because Jordan plays a double game. On the one hand, it enjoys the fruits of peace, and on the other, it is quick to accuse, criticize, and otherwise target Israel. One example is the submission of a proposal to UNESCO in October 2016 to declare the Temple Mount and the Western Wall exclusively Islamic holy sites.

Israel should demand that Jordan immediately abolish the addition to the law and insist that the Jordanian authorities stop Dakasma from inciting further violence.

    "And she shall say: 'Drink, and I shall give drink also to your camels'. She is the one that You have appointed for Your servant Yitzchak". (24:14)   A kindly person would have assented to the request for a drink of water. It would be quite extraordinary to volunteer to give water to the wayfarer's camel, for this would require a number of trips between the well and the watering-trough. One camel drinks much more than 30 men. To propose, without being requested, to give drink to 10 camels (24:10), was an extremely queer and unexpected form of behavior. Even had the request been made, to give drink for over 300 men would border on the insane, especially when a young girl undertakes such a task while the group of grown men to whom the camels had belonged stood by and did nothing. "Insane is the man of the Spirit" (Hoshea 9:7).   Ribka was chosen not merely for her kindliness but for her flaming idealism that transcended all her contemporaries and caused her to be so far above them that she was viewed as mentally irresponsible.  Even Eliezer was amazed at what he saw. (24:21).   From where did Ribka learn such behavior? Such extreme and even fanatical devotion to the services of kindliness to wayfarers could have been learned solely from one model, Abraham (18:2). We know there was communication between the family in Canaan and in Mesopotamia, and that they were familiar with details (22:20). The caravans brought tidings of Abraham's behavior, and the fame of this "prince of G-d" as the Canaanites called him (23:6) had spread far and wide.    The idealistic soul of Ribka had absorbed with eagerness the stories of her exalted great-uncle, and this young girl had learned to serve G-d by deeds of unusual kindliness. Thus Abraham's example was able to cause "this rose to bloom among the thorns" (Beresheet Raba 63:4).   The prelude to greatness is Kindliness, and thereby Ribka was chosen to be the mother of Yisrael.  "Derech Eretz preceded the Torah (Vayikra Rabbah 9:3). The chief element in Derech Eretz is Kindliness, and thus Ribka became eligible to be the mother of the people of G-d's Torah.                                                          Quoted from "The Beginning" By R' Miller ZT'L

 Parashat Hayeh Sara begins by telling of the death of Sara Imenu at the age of 127.   Our Rabbis explain that there is a direct, causal link between this event and the preceding section, which tells of Akedat Yishak (the binding of Yishak upon the altar).   When Sara heard that Abraham had placed her son upon the altar as a sacrifice, she was so startled and horror-stricken that she died.       This consequence of Akedat Yishak was orchestrated by Satan for the purpose of posing yet another religious challenge to Abraham Abinu.   Even after passing the test of Akedat Yishak by showing his preparedness to sacrifice his beloved son to obey G-d, he was tested again to see if he would regret this act when faced with its adverse consequences.   Even after a person performs a difficult Misva, he can forfeit its rewards and benefits if he regrets it afterward.   If a person struggles to wake up early to attend the Minyan, but attending the Minyan causes him to miss a lucrative business opportunity, if he then regrets going to the synagogue he forfeits all the benefits of that Misva.   The challenge of Misvot continues even after we perform a Misva.   We are challenged to feel gratified over having fulfilled a Misva knowing that i  is inherently and inestimably valuable regardless of any minor negative consequences that we might then have to endure.   And thus Satan, after his unsuccessful attempts to prevent Abraham Abinu from going through with the Akedah,  made another attempt to bring Abraham down by making it seem like a mistake, as though it caused his beloved wife's death.   But Abraham passed this test, as well, never questioning G-d or his decision to obey the command of the Akedah.   He recognized that Hashem's decree that Sara should die had nothing at all to do with his compliance with G-d's command and did not regret his decision for a moment.   This series of events demonstrates how challenges are a part of life, and once we successfully overcome one hurdle, we will, invariably, encounter another.   As our Sages comment, "The Sadikim have no rest – neither in this world nor in the next." The Sadikim want to consistently grow, and people grow by overcoming challenges.   Therefore, they are always presented challenges, through which they are able to continuously grow in spirituality from one level to the next.   The process of education and spiritual growth must never stop.   If we put a pot of water on the stove and turn off the fire every time it is about to boil, it will never boil.   The  same is true about spirituality.   If we keep taking "breaks" and allow ourselves to decline once in a while, we will never reach our full potential.   This process must be continuous and constant.   Our Rabbis noted that Yishak seems to "disappear" after the incident of the Akedah.   He is not mentioned at all in the account of Sara's death and burial, and the impression is that he was not at home.   The Rabbis explained that after  the Akedah, Abraham right away sent Yishak to learn in the yeshiva of Shem and Eber.   After rising to great heights at the Akedah, Abraham wanted to keep the momentum going, and so he sent Yishak to learn.   He didn't give him a break, some "time off," as we often do today.   When it comes to religious growth, there cannot be any "time off." There has to be consistency and ongoing momentum.   And thus, even when we take vacations from work and school, there cannot be a vacation from Torah and Misvot.   We must keep on working and growing, recognizing that religious growth cannot ever stop.

So if it weren't scary enough for the children to be told they have to go out and kill, PA educators teach them that "heroes" are willing to fearlessly die as martyrs.If you want to know why Palestinian children believe that killing Israelis is model behavior, all you have to do is look at a chapter in one of their schoolbooks. 

PA schoolbooks have been criticized ever since Palestinian Media Watch wrote the first report on them in 1998, and the newest books in some respects are the worst ever. However, one chapter stands out in its overt promotion of terrorism. This chapter, appearing in the fifth-grade Arabic Language book published in 2017, serves as a window to understanding the PA leadership's profoundly twisted values.

The chapter starts innocently by stressing the importance of heroes to national identity and national pride: "Heroes have an important position in every nation… the people – even if they are divided over many things – they all agree regarding the pride in their heroes…"

The schoolbook continues and teaches students that feeling pride is not enough. Society takes numerous active steps to honor its heroes: "[We] sing their praise, learn the history of their lives, name our children after them, and name streets, squares, and prominent cultural sites after them…"

In short, society assures that heroes are never forgotten. They might have lived in earlier times, but by naming streets and squares after them and singing their praise, these heroes remain in Palestinian consciousness. 

The next message is most important: The children are taught that these heroes are not merely memories of the past they are the role models for the future: "Every one of us wishes to be like them." 

Until now this messaging is not problematic, however, all that changes when the schoolbook presents the 10 people who PA educators promote as the role models Palestinian children should emulate. The list of Palestinian heroes includes no scientists, no doctors, no engineers, no singers, no athletes, nor any artists. There have been three Muslim Nobel Prize laureates in science and two in literature, but they are not on the list of Palestinian heroes. 

Who are the Palestinian heroes then according to the PA schoolbook? They are 10 Muslim combatants from the first century of Islam through the 21st century. And possibly the worst name on this list of role models is terrorist mass-murderer Dalal Mughrabi. 

Mughrabi led a team of terrorists who hijacked a bus in 1978 and murdered 25 adults and 12 children. Among those she murdered when she threw a hand grenade inside the bus was a young Israeli woman Rebecca Hohman and her two sons: Ilan, aged three and Roi, aged six. Mughrabi, a child murderer, is the person Palestinian educators are telling children to see as their role model, someone "everyone wants to be like." 

After naming the 10 heroes, the PA schoolbook stresses that there is no one better than these fighters: "These heroes are the crown of their nation, they are a symbol of its glory, they are the best of the best, the best of the noble people."
That's not all that is horrific. Mughrabi was killed during her terrorist attack and others on the list were killed in battle. The PA schoolbook focuses on their deaths and glorifies their willingness to die: "They took their lives in their hands and threw them at the dangers, without losing their determination and without weakening and surrendering. Some of them died as martyrs, some of them died on the way to fulfilling their obligations, as heroes."
So if it weren't scary enough for the children to be told they have to go out and kill, PA educators teach them that "heroes" are willing to fearlessly die as martyrs. The final sentence of the chapter they are taught what this means for them if they don't want to adopt this heroic behavior: "Bravo to the heroes, and scorn to the cowards!"
Tragically, presenting Dalal Mughrabi as a hero and role model is not accidental or in isolation but is part of a broad almost cult-like worship of Mughrabi directed by the Palestinian Authority. The PA Ministry of Education has named five schools as well as sporting events after Mughrabi. City squares and community centers bear her name. Videos with her picture and story are produced and appear regularly on Fatah and PA media channels. Every year on the dates surrounding her mass murder Fatah and the PA make sure her name and face appear regularly up in lights. There was a march in Bethlehem to celebrate the founding of Fatah and three giant posters led the parade. Two posters had pictures of Yasser Arafat, Mahmoud Abbas – internationally known and recognized leaders of Fatah and the PA. The third poster had the picture of Dalal Mughrabi. Dalal Mughrabi was not a leader. She was a terrorist murderer who did one thing in life to make her famous. And yet she completes the PA trinity with the PA leaders.
This cult-like worship of murderers is fundamental to the depraved value system that Palestinian leaders have promoted since the PLO's founding in 1965, and upon which the PA has indoctrinated its children since 1994. It is not surprising that so many of the Palestinian terrorists in recent years have been teenagers, including the recent murderer of Israeli-American father of four, Ari Fuld. The Palestinian leadership has been transmitting its "kill an Israeli – be a hero" message for decades, and judging by the results, it is clear that Palestinian children have been listening.
So these are the choices racing through the minds of Palestinian children who just studied one of the worst chapters in their schoolbooks: If I, Palestinian child, am willing to kill Israelis and be a martyr, then I will then be the best of the best, the crown of my nation, streets will be named after me and I will be a Palestinian hero; if I am not willing to kill Israelis and be a martyr, then I am a coward.

THE MOST EVIL HUMAN ON EARTH! ****************************** ****  Think this is absurd?  Invest a few minutes and read this.  You won't regret it. "In history, nothing happens by accident.  If it happened, you can bet someone planned it." ~ Franklin Delano Roosevelt ~Who Is George Soros?  He brought the market down in 2 days.  Here is what CBS' Mr. Steve Kroft's research has turned up.  It's a bit of a read, and it took 4 months to put it together. "The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States of America." ~ George Soros~George Soros is an evil man.....He's anti-God, anti-family, anti-American, and anti-good."  He killed and robbed his own Jewish people.  What we have in Soros, is a multi-billionaire atheist, with skewed moral values, and a sociopath's lack of conscience.  He considers himself to be an elitist world class philosopher, despises the American way, and just loves to do social engineering, and change cultures.Garry Schwartz, better known to the world as George Soros, was born August 12, 1930 in Hungary.  Soros' father, Tivadar, was a fervent practitioner of the Esperanto language invented in 1887, and designed to be the first global language, free of any national identity.  The Schwartz's, who were non-practicing Jews, changed the family name to Soros, in order to facilitate assimilation into the Gentile population, as the Nazis spread into Hungary during the 1930s.When Hitler's henchman, Adolf Eichmann arrived in Hungary, to oversee the murder of that country's Jews, George Soros ended up with a man whose job was confiscating property from the Jewish population.  Soros went with him on his rounds.Soros has repeatedly called 1944 "the best year of his life."  70% of Mr. Soros's fellow Jews in Hungary, nearly a half-million human beings, were annihilated in that year , yet he gives no sign that this put any damper on his elation, either at the time, or indeed in retrospect".  During an interview with "Sixty Minute's" with Steve Kroft, Soros was asked about his "best year."KROFT:  My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson. SOROS:  Yes.  Yes.KROFT:  Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from your fellow Jews, friends, and neighbors. SOROS:  Yes.  That's right.  Yes.KROFT:  I mean, that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many, years.  Was it difficult?SOROS:  No, not at all.  Not at all, I rather enjoyed it.KROFT:  No feelings of guilt?SOROS:  No, only feelings of absolute power!In his article, Muravchik describes how Soros has admitted to having carried some rather "potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble."  Be that as it may.  After WWII, Soros attended the London School of Economics, where he fell under the thrall of fellow atheist and Hungarian, Karl Popper, one of his professors.  Popper was a mentor to Soros until Popper's death in 1994.  Two of Popper's most influential teachings concerned "the open society," and Fallibilism.Fallibilism is the philosophical doctrine that all claims of knowledge could, in principle, be mistaken.  (Then again, I could be wrong about that.)  The "open society" basically refers to a "test and evaluate" approach to social engineering.  Regarding "open society," Roy Childs writes, "Since the Second World War, most of the Western democracies have followed Popper's advice about piecemeal social engineering and democratic social reform, and it has gotten them into a grand mess."In 1956 Soros moved to New York City, where he worked on Wall Street, and started amassing his fortune.  He specialized in hedge funds and currency speculation.  Soros is absolutely ruthless, amoral, and clever in his business dealings, and quickly made his fortune.  By the 1980s he was well on his way to becoming the global powerhouse  he is today.In an article Kyle-Anne Shiver wrote for "The American Thinker" she says, "Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England.  He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically, almost overnight."In 1994 Soros crowed in "The New Republic," that "the former Soviet Empire is now called the Soros Empire."  The Russia-gate scandal in 1999, which almost collapsed the Russian economy, was labeled by Rep. Jim Leach, then head of the House Banking Committee, to be "one of the greatest social robberies in human history.  The "Soros Empire" indeed. In 1997 Soros almost destroyed the economies of Thailand and Malaysia.  At the time, Malaysia's Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohammad, called Soros "a villain, and a moron."  Thai activist Weng Tojirakarn said, "We regard George Soros as a kind of Dracula.  He sucks the blood from the people."The website Greek National Pride reports, "Soros was part of the full court press that dismantled Yugoslavia and caused trouble in Georgia, Ukraine, and Myanmar [Burma].  Calling himself a philanthropist, Soros' role is to tighten the ideological stranglehold of globalization and the New World Order while promoting his own financial gain.  He is without conscience; a capitalist who functions with absolute amorality."France has upheld an earlier conviction against Soros, for felony insider trading.  Soros was fined 2.9 million dollars.  Recently, his native Hungary fined Soros 2.2 million dollars for "illegal market manipulation."  Elizabeth Crum writes that the Hungarian economy has been in a state of transition as the country seeks to become more financially stable and westernized.  Soros deliberately driving down the share price of its largest bank put Hungary's economy into a wicked tailspin, one from which it is still trying to recover. My point here is that Soros is a planetary parasite.  His grasp, greed, and gluttony have a global reach.  But what about America?  Soros told Australia's national newspaper "The Australian."  "America, as the center of the globalized financial markets, was sucking up the savings of the world.  This is now over.  "The game is out," he said, adding that the time has come for "a very serious adjustment" in American's consumption habits.  He implied that he was the one with the power to bring this about." SOROS:  "World financial crisis was "stimulating, and in a way, the culmination of my life's work." Obama has recently promised 10 billion of our tax dollars to Brazil, in order to give them a leg-up in expanding their offshore oil fields.  Obama's largesse towards Brazil came shortly after his political financial backer, George Soros, invested heavily in Brazilian oil, (Petrobras). Tait Trussel writes, "The Petrobras loan may be a windfall for Soros and Brazil, but it is a bad deal for the U.S.  The American Petroleum Institute estimates that oil exploration in the U S could create 160,000 new, well-paying jobs, as well as $1.7 trillion in revenues to federal, state, and local governments, all while fostering greater energy security and independence." A blog you might want to keep an eye on is SorosWatch.com.  Their mission:  "This blog is dedicated to all who have suffered due to the ruthless financial pursuits of George Soros.  Their stories are many and varied, but the theme is the same:  the destructive power of greed without conscience.  We pledge to tirelessly watch Soros wherever he goes, and to print the truth in the hope that he will one day be made to stop preying upon the world's poor, that justice will be served." Back to America.  Soros has been actively working to destroy America from the inside out for some years now.  People have been warning us.  Two years ago, news sources reported,"Soros is an extremist who wants open borders, a one-world foreign policy, legalized drugs, euthanasia, and on and on.  This is off-the-chart dangerous.  In 1997 Rachel Ehrenfeld wrote, "Soros uses his philanthropy to change, or more accurately deconstruct the moral values and attitudes of the Western world, and particularly of the American people."  His "open society" is not about freedom; it is about license.  His vision rejects the notion of ordered liberty, in favor of a PROGRESSIVE ideology of rights and entitlements.Perhaps the most important of these "whistle blowers" are David Horowitz and Richard Poe.  Their book, "The Shadow Party", outlines in detail how Soros hijacked the Democratic Party, and now owns it lock, stock, and barrel.  Soros has been packing the Democratic Party with radicals, and ousting moderate Democrats for years.  The Shadow Party became the Shadow Government, which recently became the Obama Administration, and life's work since he left office... Discover The Networks.org (another good source) writes, "By his [Soros'] own admission, he helped engineer coups in Slovakia, Croatia, Georgia, and Yugoslavia.  When Soros targets a country for "regime change," he begins by creating a shadow government, a fully formed government-in-exile, ready to assume power when the opportunity arises.  The Shadow Party he has built in America greatly resembles those he has created in other countries prior to instigating a coup."November 2008 edition of the German magazine, "Der Spiegel," in which Soros gives his opinion on what the next POTUS (President of the U. S.) should do after taking office.  "I think we need a large stimulus package."  Soros thought that around 600 billion would be about right.  Soros also said that "I think Obama presents us a great opportunity to finally deal with global warming, and energy dependence. The U.S. needs a cap & trade system  with auctioning of licenses for emissions rights." Although Soros doesn't (yet) own the Republican Party, like he does the Democrats, make no mistake, his tentacles are spread throughout the Republican Party as well. Soros is a partner in the Carlyle Group where he has invested more than 100 million dollars.  According to an article by "The Baltimore Chronicle's" Alice Cherbonnier, the Carlyle Group is run by "a veritable who's who of former Republican leaders," from CIA man, Frank Carlucci, to CIA head, and ex-President George Bush, Sr.In late 2006, Soros bought about 2 million shares of Halliburton, Dick Cheney's old stomping grounds.  When the Democrats and Republicans held their conventions in 2000, Soros held Shadow Party conventions in the same cities, at the same time. In 2008, Soros donated $5,000,000,000 (that's Five Billion) to the Democratic National Committee, DNC, to insure Obama's win and wins for many other Alinsky trained Radical Rules Anti-American Socialist.  George has been contributing a billion plus to the DNC since Clinton came on the scene. Soros has dirtied both sides of the aisle, trust me.  And if that weren't bad enough, he has long held connections with the CIA.  And I mustn't forget to mention Soros' involvement with the MSM (Main Stream Media), the entertainment industry (e.g. he owns 2.6 million shares of Time Warner), and the various political advertising organizations he funnels millions to.  In short, George Soros controls or influences most of the MSM.  Little wonder they ignore the TEA PARTY, - Soros' NEMESIS.As Matthew Vadum writes, "The liberal billionaire-turned-philanthropist has been buying up media properties for years in order to drive home his message to the American public that they are too materialistic, too wasteful, too selfish, and too stupid to decide for themselves how to run their own lives."Richard Poe writes, "Soros' private philanthropy, totaling nearly $5 billion, continues undermining America's traditional Western values.  His giving has provided funding of abortion rights, atheism, drug legalization, sex education, euthanasia, feminism, gun control, globalization, mass immigration, gay marriage, and other radical experiments in social engineering." Some of the many NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) that Soros funds with his billions are:  MoveOn.org, the Apollo Alliance, Media Matters for America, the Tides Foundation, the ACLU, ACORN, PDIA (Project on Death In America), La Raza, and many more.  For a more complete list, with brief descriptions of the NGOs, go to DiscoverTheNetworks.org.                                                   Poe continues, "Through his global web of Open Society Institutes and Open Society Foundations, Soros has spent 25 years recruiting, training, indoctrinating and installing a network of loyal operatives in 50 countries, placing them in positions of influence and power in media, government, finance and academia."Without Soros' money, would the Saul Alinsky's Chicago machine still be rolling?  Would SEIU, ACORN, and La Raza still be pursuing their nefarious activities?  Would big money and lobbyists still be corrupting government?  Would our college campuses still be retirement homes for 1960s radicals?America stands at the brink of an abyss, and that fact is directly attributable to Soros.  Soros has vigorously, cleverly, and insidiously planned the ruination of America, and his puppet, Barack Obama lead the way.The words of Patrick Henry are apropos:  "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?  Forbid it, Almighty God!  I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"Above information researched by CBS Steve Kroft....."The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work, and give to those who would not." Thomas JeffersonIf you have read this to the end, and you are a true patriotic American, then you will not have a problem forwarding it.

When someone says something uncomplimentary to us, we are of course displeased. The intensity of our reaction to an unkind remark, however, depends upon ourselves.

A former patient called me one day, sobbing hysterically because her husband had told her that she was a poor wife and a failure as a mother. When she finally calmed down, I asked her to listen carefully to me.

"I think that the scar on your face is very ugly," I said. There was a moment of silence. "Pardon me?" she said.

"I spoke very distinctly, but I will repeat what I said. `The scar on your face is repulsive.'

"I don't understand, doctor," the woman said. "I don't have a scar on my face."

"Then what did you think of my remark?" I asked.

"I couldn't understand what you were talking about," she said.

"You see," I pointed out, "when I say something insulting to you, and you know that it is not true, you do not become hysterical. You just wonder what in the world it is that I am talking about. That should also have been your reaction to your husband's offensive remarks. Instead of losing your composure, you should have told him that he is delusional. The reason you reacted as extremely as you did is because you have doubts about yourself as to your adequacy as a wife and mother."

A good self-esteem will not make offensive comments pleasant to hear, but it can greatly diminish their impact upon us.
