The Three Musketeers at the Kotel
The Jew's power to have the courage to say No

The Torah is a GPS (G-d's personal system) to us today in the modern world. The lessons we learn from the Torah each week are to teach us how to behave in the modern world. The first book of Bereshit has few mitzvahs, but is the basis for our ethical character so that the Book of Genesis is also known as 'Sefer Hayashar' – 'The Book of the Upright'.

Herein, then, lies the unique greatness of our Patriarchs and Matriarchs: not only were they righteous and kind, loving G-d in the fullest measure, but they were also 'yesharim' – 'upright'. They always treated others, even idolaters, and those of different habits, respectfully and lovingly, and were concerned for their welfare. They acknowledged that, after all, every human being constitutes a part of the Almighty's creation.

We find many examples of this in the Book of Bereshit, where Hashem demonstrates the degree to which one must behave with yashrut (steadfastness). Indeed, there are numerous instances of Hashem expressing His own yashrut. All the narratives in Sefer Bereishit teach us how our ancestors led by example – whether it be Abraham's treatment of his guests, his valiant attempt to save the evil city of S'dom, Isaac's devotion to his father, Jacob's total honesty when working for Laban, Joseph's forgiving attitude towards his brothers, and so forth.

But there are questions. In the story of S'dom, why did G-d call on Abraham to challenge him? Was there anything that Abraham knew that G-d didn't know? That idea is absurd. The answer must be that Abraham was to become the role model and initiator of a new faith, one that would not only defend the human status quo but challenge it!

Abraham had to have the courage to challenge G-d if his descendants were to challenge human rulers, as Moses and the Prophets did. He set the bar for Moses when he had the courage to challenge Pharaoh. If Abraham could challenge G-d himself, Moses learned to have the courage to challenge the Pharaoh. Jews do not accept the world as that is. They challenge it in the name of the world that ought to be.

As Rabbi Jonathon Sacks (British Orthodox rabbi, philosopher, theologian, author, and politician. He served as the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth from 1991 to 2013, and who passed away on November 10, 2010) famously says, this is the critical turning point in human history. Judaism is the birth of the world's first religion of protest. The emergence of a faith that challenges the world instead of accepting it. Abraham is the role model of leadership as Judaism understands it. He took responsibility and acted. He didn't shove his cell phone and watch an event, and didn't wait for others to act, he acted.

Judaism is G-d's call to responsibility.

We are facing a time of serious conflict in the world again. The President of the United States who had Israel's back seems to be changing. There are total shutdowns all over the world when less draconian choices could be made. Synagogues and Yeshivot are closed down with little hope for when they will reopen. The world always is afraid of Jews, because we have shown we don't always take what the government puts out as the gospel. With the new reality, you can be assured there will be Jews opening their mouths. Let's pray we can all have the courage of Abraham.

Top pollster Frank Luntz: 'The political polling profession is done'

Longtime Republican pollster Frank Luntz says errors in predicting a major Biden victory is killing their credibility with the public and the parties.

By Paul Shindman, World Israel News

One of America's leading pollsters said Wednesday that the major miscalculations in the polls leading up to Election Day might have killed his profession, and that Trump supporters might have skewed the results by not cooperating with polling.

"The political polling profession is done," pollster Frank Luntz told the news website Axios. "It is devastating for my industry."

Most polls leading up to the election on Tuesday showed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden having a sizeable and seemingly insurmountable lead over President Donald Trump. However, once voting ended and ballots were tallied the two remained neck-and-neck in the race for the White House.

As of Thursday final votes were still being tallied in key states with Biden holding a lead that will likely get him to the minimum 270 Electoral College votes needed to be declared the winner.

Known for his expertise on the targeted messaging that candidates needed to win, Luntz admitted that polling for House and Senate races had been off target.

"Polls of many House and Senate races (and the election analysts who rely on them) also appeared to be off target, as predicted Democratic gains in both chambers of Congress failed to come to pass," Luntz tweeted early Thursday morning.

Luntz called the polling for the Maine Senate race a "systematic failure" after 14 separate polls had placed Democratic candidate Sarah Gideon ahead of incumbent Republican Susan Collins. However, with 86% of the vote counted Collins had won reelection with 50.5% of the vote to Gideon's 43.0% and Gideon called Collins to concede the race.

"I'm proud of the campaign we ran, regardless of the result," Gideon tweeted.

On Wednesday Luntz told Fox News that President Trump and his pollsters were "correct" in saying that the 2020 presidential election would be "much closer" than anybody expected.

"Published polling was so wrong," Luntz said. "There are people who are calling for investigations of the pollsters who had Joe Biden winning by 10 points, 12 points."

Luntz specifically called out an ABC News/Washington Post poll that last week showed Biden leading Trump by 17 points in Wisconsin, but where counting showed only the tiniest of margins.

"That's not a mistake, that's not an error, that's polling malpractice and you have to go to tremendous lengths to be able to get something that wrong so close to the election," Luntz said.

As of Thursday morning, Biden was leading by only 0.7% in Wisconsin with a 20,000 vote advantage.

"And you know what? Actually Donald Trump was correct, Donald Trump's pollsters were correct that this was a much closer election than anybody realized, and we are going through the ramifications of that right now," Luntz told Fox.

"The fact is a lot of Trump people want to send a message to Washington, to the swamp. They want to send a message that they're not going to be … ignored and forgotten and lied to and so they simply don't cooperate with pollsters," Luntz said, adding that he himself needs to make a "special effort" to get Trump supporters to participate in his polls.

"I have to ask a number of unique questions to get them to participate," Luntz said. "I have to tell them in the opening, I actually have to inform them that national leaders will read the results of your information, you're going to have influence for the first time."

"That gets them to participate, if they know their voice is being heard and most pollsters don't do that," Luntz continued. "It requires a special effort, additional verbiage and the surveys are a little bit longer. That's the only way to get Trump people to participate."

Still an optimist, Luntz tweeted that "We're only 1,462 days away from Election Day 2024."

Excavation works will start within two weeks to prepare for construction of the controversial cable car planned to connect West Jerusalem with the Old City, even though the High Court has not yet ruled on a petition to scrap the project.

On Thursday, project director Shmulik Tzabari met with stakeholders on Mount Zion to explain that works to move infrastructure would soon commence at the parking lot adjacent to the Shulhan David event hall, which is currently undergoing renovation.

Also last week, the Jerusalem Development Authority (JDA), which is responsible for implementing the cable car project, won approval from the Agriculture Ministry's Forest Commissioner's Unit to remove trees along the cable car's route.

Emek Shaveh, a not-for-profit organization that strives to prevent politicization of archaeology in Israel and has been leading the campaign against the project, appealed through its lawyer to the forest commissioner to freeze any tree-related action until the High Court has ruled.

The cable car, for which the government has already budgeted NIS 200 million ($55.2 million), is planned to stretch from the First Station cultural complex in the south of the city to the Old City's Dung Gate, which is the closest entrance to the Western Wall, Judaism's most venerated prayer site. Mount Zion will host the only station along the way. A maintenance depot is to be built in the neighborhood of Abu Tor.

The project's backers insist that this will be a tourist attraction and will help relieve traffic gridlock caused mainly by tour buses.

But the plan's critics say the cable car will turn Jerusalem's most precious historic vistas into a theme park. An analysis of traffic data released in July appears to undermine the other major claim made for the cable car — that it will relieve traffic congestion along the Old City walls. The analysis suggests that an increase in shuttles would be a better, faster, and cheaper way of ferrying tourists from southern Jerusalem to the Dung Gate.

In July, in a last-ditch attempt to stop the project, opponents petitioned the High Court. The court responded by ordering the government and all the other bodies involved to detail the "factual basis" on which the cable car meets the wording of the planning law — whether it really will "serve as a tourist attraction" and "make a real contribution to tourism in the area."

The government has submitted an 81-page document reiterating its arguments, to which the petitioners may respond by November 22.

The JDA did not answer questions on the matter, but instead issued a statement saying it would "carry out out necessary activities in line with an approved plan and the legal proceedings underway."

[These are Rabbi Meir Kahane's, may G-d avenge his blood, last words to the Jewish people, whom he devoted his life fighting for, going to prison for, trying to warn them of all the dangers they are facing and will eventually face. Rabbi Meir Kahane's last speech urging American Jews to make emergency Aliyah (excerpts of speech)

I was born in this country, and I can't recall ever, in my life, as much open and vicious Jew-hatred as I have seen in our time right now, in this country. I travel around from city to city, and in every city Jews tell me it is unbearable. Attacks upon synagogues, attacks upon Jews, all of which are of course buried. Because the synagogue doesn't want it to be known. The ADL wants to report "there were 55 incidents this year in the United States", when actually, there were 55 incidents in one hour in the United States. On radio programs which I am on – the telephone calls – open, open (anti-Semitism).

Two Reasons for Increased Anti-Semitism

What has happened? What has happened in natural terms? Of course, in divine terms, the Almighty is ending it for us. But what is happening in natural terms? Two basic changes have taken place in this country over the last twenty years. It began slowly, now it is reaching its crescendo. We have seen the death of what I call the "Auschwitz syndrome". What is the "Auschwitz syndrome"? After World War II, it was hard to be an anti-Semite, even for an anti-Semite. It was just difficult. And then the years passed – ten years, twenty years, twenty-five years, thirty years, and a generation arose which was not born at that time. And the "Auschwitz syndrome" began to fade away, and the guilt began to fade away. No matter how many Holocaust programs were shown on television, every year they had less and less impact. Indeed, they reach a point whereby they encourage anti-Semitism, whereupon the anti-Semite says: " Hey, you know, I know Jews, and the Nazis, and they were probably right." That's what happens today. It fades away. And to help things along, there was the rise of a strong Israel. Suddenly, Israel was winning. And that allowed the anti-Semite to cut the albatross. Now it was OK. You see, the Jew are Nazis, and they persecute the Palestinians, and now it was OK. So the "Auschwitz syndrome" faded, and it's gone for all practical purposes. And you hear people speak about the holocaust that the Israelis are perpetrating upon the Palestinians. A Holocaust…So all the Israelis and all the Jews who ever called me a Nazi and didn't realize that when you call a Jew a Nazi, you cheapen the Holocaust. And you cheapen the concept of Nazi, which is a very unique thing. And by you calling a second Jew a Nazi, what you are telling the world is" Jews can also be Nazis. Foolish people and tiny dwarfs and pygmies, grasshoppers.

So the "Auschwitz syndrome" is gone. And another thing has happened. After World War II, and until perhaps ten years ago, the American people lived in an economic luxury such as we have not seen ever in world history. No Roman emperor lived as well as the average American did from World War II on, until fairly recently. Life was good. And when life is good, the anti-Semite hates Jews quietly. It's not a big deal to him. He hates Jews, but he's too interested in the Monday night football game. I myself am amazed that so many people are here tonight that don't want to see the Giants massacre the Colts…

The Economic Crises

So when times are good and he has his job, he has his beer and he has his TV set, he has everything – he hates Jews, but it's not that important to him. But as the economic sands of time begin to run out, and as things get bad and they get worse and suddenly there is a chill, there is a fear. I can sense a fear in this country – people are afraid of what is going to happen, and they have every right to fear it. This is a country which is on the verge of economic horror, horror. In two years they expect the national debt to go from 3.7 trillion to 5 trillion dollars, so they work for months and months – this fiasco between Congress and this administration – and they say, "we are going to cut 500 million dollars in five years". Five years! It is a joke – It's a drop in the bucket. This is a country which is dying because the thing that was saving it was the fact that the Japanese are buying Rockefeller Center, Rockefeller Plaza – don't be angry. If they stopped buying it, no one is going to cover the national debt. And they are stopping.

The dollar is a weak dollar today. Can you imagine: The Israeli shekel has held its own against the dollar now for a year. Don't clap! It doesn't mean that the Israeli shekel is strong. The shekel is weak; the dollar is just as weak. The Japanese don't want dollars anymore, they want German marks. And they're investing now in South Korea, Thailand, Singapore. The banks here are shaking, they're tottering. In their greed, in the 1960's and 70's, they gave loans to anybody. The Congo came – you want money, take the money. Mexico came – take 100 million dollars – take, take it, take. Suddenly, the Congo couldn't pay back. If that's what a banker is…did he expect the Congo to ever pay back in total? So hundreds of millions of bad loans are being held by major banks: Chase Manhattan, Citicorp – and they are in deep, deep trouble today. And on top of that, suddenly the real estate market has collapsed and they are now holding several more hundred million dollars of bad mortgages. That's the tragedy. That's why suddenly, there's a hurry talk about Chase merging with City.

There's a myth that your money is insured for $100,000. If the FDIC had 60 cents for every hundred dollars that you have, I'll swim back to Israel. There is a myth that they are going to bail out the Savings & Loan with 40 billion dollars. If they can make it with less than half a trillion, it will be a miracle.

So for years, the new economists said, "Don't worry about deficits, it doesn't matter. Deficits don't matter? I know that when my bank account is in deficit, it matters to me. The bank calls me up and says, "Rav Kahane, we have a little problem. Would you like to come and cover it?" A city can go a little deeper into debt than I can, and a state deeper yet, and a country can go a little deeper yet; but, in the end you have to pay the piper. So, America has lived beyond its means – extra credit, credit cards – and give anybody credit, give kids credit cards – anybody. Now it's time to pay the piper, there is no money, there is no money. And should the economic collapse come it is the Jew who will be blamed. It is the Jew. You can hear it already. You can small it in the air.

The Racial tension – In all Colors

I was on a radio program in Chicago. Every single caller blamed the Gulf oil crisis on the Jews. Every single call. What you have now is the getting together of all these crises – the economic crisis, the racial crisis – and there is a serious racial crisis in the country. It's a serious one. It is a dangerous one. Whites hate Blacks and Blacks hate Whites and they both hate Jews. It is a terrible, terrible thing. It's not just Whites and Blacks. Now in the West, it's the Hispanics and the Anglos – tremendous crises, which only proves all the more the myth of the melting pot. Uh nechtiga tag –what melting pot? A melting pot is fine until there is a terrible crisis and then two "objects' occupy the same job at the same time. That's a law of physics, which I've changed a bit…

So it's not an accident that Jesse Helms is now putting on TV ads talking about the unfairness of quotas. Quotas are unfair. Of course, that is his trump card. People are angry about quotas and affirmative action, etc. And Blacks are angry. You think that Blacks have no argument? You think they are all bad? – that everything the Blacks do is wrong? You think that Bob Grant is your kind of guy? G-d forbid! This Jew-hating fascist type. That he says something good many, many times –you're right. You think that bad people don't often say correct things? Of course they do – but watch him, watch him and be careful of such people! People who are anti-Black will always be anti-Jewish too. One doesn't have to love Farrakhan or Jesse Jackson to realize that he should be careful of racism of all kinds – White and Black – be careful, because we get stuck in the middle. Because the Whites and Blacks hate us both.

The Pre-War Depression: Not a Criteria

We have a serious problem – the economic crisis cannot be averted. There is no way. This country is in for terrible, terrible times. People tell me in the depression it was also bad. It's true. But first of all, who knows what would have happened in this country if World War II had not ended the depression? If you think that Roosevelt ended it, you don't know history. World War II ended it. It gave jobs finally, but more to the point, it was a different era back then. The American people at that time were a much stronger people in character. Today, after 40-50 years of good life and soft life, and the materialistic life, people are into themselves. Unbelievable ego. Everything is me, me – my life, my body, my-me, my-mine. People are incapable today of making sacrifices and that's the great, great difference between today and what happened in the depression. The person who is fairly poor and gets poorer – not so terrible. The person who has it and lost it becomes a wild animal, a raging animal. He'll not accept it and will look for a scapegoat. He'll look for some target to blame. We Jews are the most visible, the most highly visible in terms of power, in terms of money. Of course, Wasps have more money than Jews have. Certainly, Jews are not into U.S. Steel and banking and so on, and the real, real money is not Jewish money, but that doesn't matter because Jews are in those professions that are most visible.

How to Gauge anti-Semitism: Go to a Bar

So in the bars, it sits the jealousy and the envy of the Jews which leads to hate. The tragedy as I've said a million times is that the average Jewish leader in this country has no idea what people say about Jews in bars, because the average Jew doesn't go into a bar – and he should; he should be compelled to go into a bar. Every rabbi before getting "smicha", before being ordained, should be compelled to go into a bar and find out what the real world is like. It isn't a joke. I'm serious. To hide in some little ghetto, you never know what the world is. They hate us with a passion out there, with a virulence which is frightening to see and to hear. On every radio program I go on, I hear, "why should we give you guys three billion dollars a year"? Anytime some fellow from the Israeli consulate is asked that question, he comes up with the answer, "well, we help you too, etc." Baloney! The only way to get rid of that question is to answer as I do, "I don't want the money! I want Israel to be a free enterprise state and allow private enterprise to flourish and then we don't want your money, I don't want your charity." So, that of course gets rid of the question, but it doesn't get rid of the anti-Semite. He'll go home mutter in his beer and pretzels. He's still there. He's still there.

Role of the Prophet – To See It and say It

The rabbis tell us that G-d told Moses and Aaron. "I'll make you Jewish leaders on one condition that if they throw stones at you, you'll accept it." Rather to be pelted with stones and not with dollars. That's what a Jewish leader has to be! Say the bitter truth, even though they won't like you. They won't like you; they'll attack you, but tell the Jews the truth if you love them. If you love Jews, tell them the things which will make them angry, but which can save their lives. That's what you have to do! Think carefully about what I'm saying, and that is why we created this group called ZEERO, Zionist Emergency Evacuation Rescue Organization. It's a name that provokes. And we hope that as we spread this idea it will provoke Jewish leaders to attack so we can debate the controversy that arises. People will say he's right; he's wrong, and so on. Of course, this is probably the worst thing you can ever tell any Jewish leader, any Federation leader – that he should leave here, and go to Israel. What'ill do there? .

The rabbis say: "Who is wise? He who sees the future". It's no big deal to see "today." A Jewish leader has to see tomorrow.

Living in Israel – Difficult; Living Elsewhere – Impossible

It is coming here! It is coming here! Friday night I spoke in Brooklyn in shul, and I had to walk through Bensonhurst, a white neighborhood – nice people, because they're white…Watching the people, the kids, you can smell the violence, you can see the hate, you can see the envy – frustrated, bored, looking for action. You can see it. Those are the potential mobs. And G-d forbid, we will see it. So ZEERO is a very serious project of Kach, and I mean a serious one. And I know how hard it is to go to Israel – it is really hard. Hard to make a living. My son goes into the army every single year. It's dangerous and so on. All of it is true. Everything that's all true. That's all true. It's hard to live in Israel, but it will be impossible to live here, and if we go to Israel, at least there we can change the country. Of course we can change it and make it better and make it tremendous and make it safe. Of curse we can do that if we have the power in the government, but here there is nothing you can do to change it, it's out of our hands. We are a minority and we are strangers here. We're strangers in this land, no matter how many years we've been here.

It's not an accident that so few German Jews survived the camps. The Polish Jew did better. Why? Because the Polish Jew wasn't surprised. It didn't shock him that gentiles could behave like this. It didn't surprise him, so he wasn't shattered inside, he wasn't' broken. But the German Jew was psychologically shattered. How could this be? I'm a German. I'm a German. How could it be? How can you do this to me? The Pole knew he was a Jew. The German was broken because his whole illusion was shattered. And that's how the American Jew lives. "I'm an American". It's the gentile who will teach you so quickly that you're a Jew.

It's no just in the bars, in the working class bars the anti-Semitism that you see. When you see the news media and their attitude towards Israel; it's not anti-Israel – it's anti-Semitism. Do you know why they hate Jews? Because among intellectuals there is a jealousy of Jews. When Truman Capote, the famous author, a sickness, a disease whom represents all that is sick about Western culture – when he spoke about the publishing business being a Jewish mafia – you can see the jealousy. [He writes] how Jews are over represented in publishing, in broadcast, in movies, etc. Of course it's so – they have talent. Untalented people don't like to think it is because of talent. They like to think they run it because their friends, their uncles, their aunts and so on and so forth. The hate runs across the board. You can see Peter Jennings' anti-Semitism. You can see it! And when I hold press conferences in Israel and I see them sitting around, you can watch them all – the hatred.

Thoughts In A Dark Time

By Dennis Prager

As there is too much to say in the space of one column, I will simply offer some thoughts on the state of the country a week after the 2020 elections.

No. 1: While I am not certain the reported election results are dishonest, I suspect they are. Worse, about half this country believes this, too.

This is unprecedented in American history.

One might counter that this is not unprecedented, that this was precisely what half the American electorate felt in 2000, when many Democrats rejected the 2000 Supreme Court decision regarding Florida's ballot counting. But that was entirely different. No one alleged widespread Republican fraud in the election of George W. Bush.

The issue in that extremely close election involved a faulty voting system that resulted in hand recounts using differing ballot-counting standards from one jurisdiction to the next. Liberal justices joined the 7-2 vote in ruling for Bush that the recounts could not constitutionally go forward.

Therefore, the fact that nearly half the country is far from certain that Joe Biden was honestly elected is unprecedented.

Half this country believes, with good reason, that if Democratic Party officials believe they can get away with cheating, they will do so. Aside from the Democrats having a history of ballot-manipulation, there is an even more compelling reason to believe Democrats would cheat:

For four years, they have been telling the nation and telling one another that President Donald Trump is a dictator, a fascist, and a white supremacist. Therefore, if a leftist considers himself a moral individual and works in tabulating election results, and he can help prevent the reelection of a white supremacist fascist dictator, wouldn't he do so? Wouldn't he be morally obligated to do so?

No. 2: For four years, the mainstream print and electronic media waged daily, indeed hourly, vicious attacks on Trump as a human being. Rarely did they attack his policies, since they were so beneficial to America (some of the greatest economic figures in memory and the lowest black unemployment rate ever recorded) and to the world (a major weakening of Iran and a major strengthening of Israel and Israel-Arab peace). Worse, the media and the Democratic Party immersed the country in a three-year lie about Trump campaign collusion with Russia.

Yet, 70 million Americans still voted for Trump. The Democrats lost seats in the House and will probably not gain control of the Senate, despite the larger number of Republican incumbents who were up for reelection.

Americans watched Democratic governors and mayors do nothing as left-wing thugs burned their cities. And then they watched Democratic mayors and city councils defund their police departments. That is one reason Democrats fared so badly.

No. 3: The mainstream media is now perceived as fraudulent by half of America. This has never been the case. But from The New York Times' mendacious claim that America's true founding was in 1619 and was founded in order to preserve slavery – for which the equally dishonest Pulitzer Prize committee awarded the paper a Pulitzer Prize – to the entire mainstream press's ignoring of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, only left-wing Americans now believe the mainstream media.

No. 4: That is one reason the tech companies shut down conservative voices. The more people hear non-left ideas, the more they gravitate away from the left. As a result, for the first time in American history, free speech is seriously threatened – not by government, but by private companies. Free speech is the most important freedom of all. If we lose it, it is the end of our country. What may happen then is the division of America, either formally or informally, into two nations, each with its own media and its own schools.

No. 5: Despite four years of being accused of racism and xenophobia, Trump increased both his black and Latino vote. If Trump lost honestly, it was due to his loss of the white male vote – from +31 in 2016 to +23 in 2020.

No. 6: The Democratic Party was once liberal. It is now leftist. And the left, everywhere in the world, suppresses dissent wherever it takes over – from Lenin to the modern American university to Twitter and the rest of Big Tech.

No. 7: Liberals loved America. The left loathes it. Therefore, since the left governs American education, America-hatred dominates the education system from kindergarten to graduate school. You are risking the poisoning of your children's minds, souls, and consciences by sending them to most American schools and nearly all American colleges. Don't. Home-school, or find a school that teaches rather than indoctrinates.

No. 8: Hydroxychloroquine, one of the safest and oldest medications known to man, when given with zinc to almost anyone as soon as the individual develops symptoms or tests positive with Covid-19, prevents death and even hospitalization in the overwhelming majority of cases. History will likely note that the politicians and scientists who opposed Hydroxychloroquine have a lot of blood on their hands.

No. 9: Those who can work from home are far more likely to support lockdowns than those who cannot work from home. As a rule, the former are more likely to be Democrats and more likely to be wealthier than the latter.

No. 10: All over the country, stores in big cities were boarded up solely to protect themselves from left-wing rioters should Trump have won. When Biden was declared the winner, the boards came down. Because everyone knows that conservatives don't riot.

No. 11: If Biden wins, more and more non-left Americans will lose their reputations, their businesses and their freedom to speak.

All of which plausibly renders the Georgia runoffs for U.S. senator the most important elections in American history.
