Unbelievable Cave Pictures and Patience is Based on Attitude

Patience is Based on Attitude

A teacher's patience with his students is based on his attitude toward them.

Rabbi Yaakov Neiman related that when he was a student in Europe before World War Two, he entered the home of his teacher Rabbi Moshe Rosenstein and observed that his teacher was testing a young child on what he had learned that week.

Rabbi Neiman asked him who the child was, and Rabbi Rosenstein whispered, "He's a child of the Almighty."

Noticing the puzzled look, Rabbi Rosenstein explained. "If I told you he is the son of this or that person, you would then feel that you know his identity. But the identity that an educator has to keep in mind is that all of his students are children of the Almighty."

When a teacher has this attitude, he will have the patience to educate each student at his own unique pace.

Japanese Surrender Film (the real thing) and Arrogance Blocks Improvement

Arrogance Blocks Improvement

The Torah ideal is for us to have a positive self-image, while at the same time we must keep a distance from arrogance.

Think of a way that arrogance might prevent you from seeing your faults or mistakes. In order to overcome our faults and shortcomings, we first have to recognize them!

This is an actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to MacArthur in Tokyo Bay in September 1945.  Actual voice of the General.  Never been shown to the general public before.  We always saw the "stills" but never the film itself.

Historical Footage: Japanese Surrender Signing Aboard Battleship Missouri Sunday Sept. 2, 1945.

An important piece of history. Most people have seen still photos of the event but haven't seen the newsreel of it.

A film of the actual ceremony of the Japanese signing their surrender ending the second world war.  General Douglas MacArthur was the supreme commander of our armed forces in charge of the signing ceremony.

the benefits of Trust in G-d and the Brighton Beach Board walk

The Benefits of Trust in G-d

A person who has trust in G-d will be free from bothersome thoughts. He will not worry about what will be tomorrow
if he has enough for today. He does not cause himself needless pain and discomfort by worrying that perhaps he will be
lacking something in the future. A person who has trust in G-d feels no need to flatter other people.

He will not veer from his principles for the hope of financial gain. Questions of how he will make a living do not bother
him since he knows with clarity that it is impossible for him to have more or less than what the Almighty has decreed for him.

Even if there is a world crisis, he will not worry about his personal situation. He has trust that any misfortune which
was not decreed upon him will not affect him. He walks in this world completely free from worries and sadness.
He takes pleasure in what he has and feels no lack of possessions.

In short, if a person has trust in G-d, he has everything

In New York you have to see and dance at one of the Tratiana restaurants.  It's a great experience to just sit on the boardwalk, see (can't eat it --not kosher) authentic food, and see authentic people.  You'll feel like you're in a whole other country.  Those eating finish your meal sipping tea with blackberry jam; aah…

Conney Island and RR Crossing In North Dakota. and Humility comes from Gratitude

Humility Comes From Gratitude

Awareness of your self-worth is not a contradiction to the obligation to be humble.

Only a fool is unaware of his positive accomplishments and abilities, and this is not humility. Humility is the internalization with every fiber of your body that everything - yes everything - you have is not your own. Rather, it is a gift from the Almighty who bestowed His kindness on you.

The more a person feels that what he has is a gift, the greater his humility.

Death and Joy and the next adventure in our trip

Joy in the Face of Death

The Talmud (Brachot 31) relates that at the wedding of Mar, the son of Ravina, the Sages asked Rav Hamnuna to sing a song. This is what he sang: "Woe to us that we die! Woe to us that we die!"

Since we have an obligation to rejoice with the bride and groom at a wedding, how was it proper for Rav Hamnuna to say something that would cause sadness?

When you are able to recall death and nevertheless rejoice, this is true joy. This is possible when one is committed to serving the eternal God. But if someone needs to forget death in order to rejoice, the joy is incomplete.

Dependence on Honor and Billy Elliot

Dependence On Honor

The Sages say a person's life is darkened if he constantly depends on others.

And a person who seeks honor is the most dependent person there is. He is constantly dependent on the approval of others, and is always concerned what they will say about him.

Seek Peace in life and Marriage and New York Adventure

GOOD MORNING! What does a person want out of life? People want love, riches, happiness, meaning. And when people get older they like to remind you, "If you have your health, you have everything." Whatever a person wants out of life, one of the essentials is the ability to have peace and make peace with others.

King David wrote in Psalm 34, "Seek peace and pursue it." Unlike other mitzvot, commandments, that are commanded when you happen into the circumstance, seeking peace requires us to be proactive. The great sage Hillel taught, "Be a disciple of Aharon - love peace and pursue peace, love people and draw them near to the Torah" (Pirkei Avos 1:12).

Whenever Aharon heard that two people were involved in a quarrel, he would go to one of them and tell him that he had recently met his friend and had heard him say, "The quarrel was my fault, and I bitterly regret it." Aharon would then go to the second person and tell him the same fabricated story. When the two people would meet again, they would hug one another and be friends. For this reason, the entire nation wept when Aharon died (Avos D'Reb Noson 12:3).

In dealing with the key to family harmony (Shalom Bayis in Hebrew), : People are filled with resentment as a result of a sense of entitlement and expectation that their spouse will give to them. Love is based on giving to the other person and not having expectations of receiving (we don't have expectations that our children will give to us - or even appreciate what we give them). Expectations are the source of most misery. Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler once wrote, "When demands begin, love departs." Rabbi Dessler would tell newly married couples at their wedding, "Make sure, my dear ones, that you always desire to give happiness and pleasure to one another, as you feel at this time. And know, that the moment that you start making demands from each other - behold, your happiness has already left you."

" 'Giving in' is not about being selfless, but about being sensible. You can be right or you can be happy. You can't always be both." A man shared with me that he stopped trying to win every discussion with his wife when he realized that if he won that meant that his wife lost - and he didn't want to be married to a loser!

In short: Disagreements are natural in marriage. You need to communicate before they become resentments (resentments are frozen anger). Your spouse is not a mind reader. Make sure you're not projecting your own faults; correct your faults and the problem will likely go away. Those who seek to educate, improve and refine their spouse through criticism, labor under a false and destructive impression. He then shows you how to create the atmosphere and means of communicating in harmony - wait 24 hours, pick your time, keep a soft and kind voice, express appreciation and gratitude first.

The Zohar teaches, "God is peace, His name is peace and all is bound together in peace." If you'd like to sharpen your peace making skills, lead a happier life and help others to have happier relationships.

Create a Mental haven and Brooklyn

Create A Mental Haven

When we travel to locations noted for their tranquil settings, we become calm and relaxed. We let go of all tension and stress. It is not the place that enables one to feel this inner peace. It is one's mind which accomplishes this. When the setting is just right, our minds let go of all the factors that prevent us from feeling serene. And serenity is what we experience. Your mind has the ability to create a serene personal haven. The place you can visualize can be truly perfect. When you mentally come to your personal haven, you immediately feel all tension and stress melting away. If you ever find yourself in a place that is especially challenging to your level of serenity, mentally visit your personal utopia.

This means that any place you desire, including Manhattan or your own home can be a tranquil place...the choice is yours.

When You Can't Empathize, Care

When you empathize with someone, keep in mind that you can never know exactly how they are feeling. You can only make assumptions based on your knowledge of human nature in general, and this unique individual in particular. At times, the best thing to say might be, "I can't know exactly how you are feeling. But I see how strongly this affects you."

Respond To Arguments With Honest Humility

Respond to the outbursts of others with humility. Agree with any truth you see in their statement. By agreeing with part of the person's comments, you are likely to calm him down. ("Yes, I was inconsiderate." "I agree with you that I can improve." "That was a stupid thing I did.")

Conversely, when you try to defend yourself, an angry person will usually keep up his attack. Arguing with him adds fuel to the fire. When you agree with him, however, he will see that he has no reason to keep arguing since you already agree with him. Some people find this difficult to do, but try this a few times, and you will see that it works wonders.

Cacti in Bloom -- You'll Love This! and Happiness comes from Within and in the holy city of Monsey New York

Happiness Comes From Within

In the Talmud (Piker Avos 4:1), Ben Zoma said: Who is wise? He who learns from every person. Who is strong? He who conquers his desires. Who is rich? He who is satisfied with what he has. Who is honored? He who honors others.

The Torah is teaching us to not to seek or demand happiness through any external factors, but rather to depend only on ourselves.

How do we see this concept expressed? The wise man learns from everyone (independent of any intellectual deficiencies in himself); the honorable person honors others (independent of whether others honor him); the wealthy person is satisfied with what he has (independent of how much or little he owns).

On my first real vacation of 2010, I arrived this morning in the holy city of Monsey, New York.. What makes it holy? Thousands of people live a bible live style focused on prayer and good deeds. If it were any other group of people, they would be all over sixty minutes as a phenomena that is unheard of.  But because this group of people was born into this lifestyle, it is considered matter of fact and nothing special.  I however, seeing it for the first time in this city, know these people are special and just because the world doesn't know about it, doesn't change the realty. I will keep you aprised of my trip as I go along.

North Platte Canteen and choose to concentrate

Choose to Concentrate

Some people find that as soon as they open a book for serious study, intrusive thoughts creep in which disturb concentration. These may be memories of the past, worries about the future, recent quarrels and arguments.

Therefore, difficulty in concentration does not stem from a lack of thinking ability, but rather as a result of the power of one's imagination. By calmly pushing away those extraneous thoughts, you will be able to achieve greater concentrate on the task at hand.

Today, before you begin a certain task, try verbalizing your intentions. Telling yourself aloud how you want to apply your mind for a certain period of time often works to block out extraneous thoughts

Snowmobile Climb and Kindness Helps you too

Kindness Helps You Too

When you do acts of kindness for others, you are really being kind to yourself. Other people will do acts of kindness for you in return. Moreover, the Almighty will reward you for the good that you do for others.

When you behave meanly to people, you are acting against your own best interests, because others will repay you in kind.

Resolve to do at least one act of kindness for someone each day.

This year in addition to everything else, it is the 250th anniversary of the death of the great mystic the Ball Shem Tov.....He is considered the Father of the New Age movement and the  modern Hassidic movement as he interpreted the Torah that everything, and I mean everything is a sign from G-d to you to either work on or ignore.

Call that Hairpin turn and courage is a state

Friendship improves happiness, and abates misery, by doubling our joy, and dividing our grief."

-- Joseph Addison,
British writer and politicia
n

Courage is a State

Courage is a state. You don't have to be a person who feels courageous all the time in order to speak and act with courage. You can be in a joyous state for a few minutes, even if you aren't always joyous. You can be in a serene state for a while, even if you aren't always serene. You can be in a centered and balanced state, even if you aren't always this way. The same applies to courage.

We all have the ability to access a state of courage. At times we might find this easy, and at times it could be difficult. The more times you practice accessing courage, the easier it will become -- even in situations where you previously weren't able to do so.
