When a person feels sad because someone did not show him respect or give him approval, he can say to himself, "What will I actually gain if this person shows me respect or approval? And what do I really lose by his insulting me?"
The answer is: Nothing! Both honor and humiliation are very temporary states, and rarely make practical differences in our lives. So why get upset because someone failed to honor you?
Someone who internalizes the truth of this concept, will never feel sad about lack of honor or approval.

What can one say about Europe? I imagine that if one wants to be bitterly truthful then one could easily say that Hitler has in effect triumphed. He branded the Jews as the root of all troubles and proclaimed that the "final" and only solution to the "Jewish problem" was to eradicate all Jews from the face of the earth. And as we all know, he followed through on his genocidal program.
