This is written by a physicist, who worked for the Israeli defense department. I wanted to share something that is much more than a feeling. Something that comes from a real calculation: What happened in Israel on April 14, 2024 was not less than the scale of the splitting of the Red Sea. I am a Professor of physics and I worked for several years in the defense industry in Israel, in projects that are still the cutting edge technologies of the defense of the State of Israel. When I look at what happened on Motzai Shabbat, on a scientific level - it simply cannot happen!!  Statistically. The likelihood that everything, but really *Everything* works out, does not exist in complex systems like the defense systems that were used to defend Israel from the massive Iranian attack. These systems have never, *but never*, not only in the State of Israel, been tried in real time!! I took a pencil and dived into the calculations to check the statistic probability that such a result would materialize. The large number of events that had to be handled, when each missile or UAV is handled independently (that is, human error or some deviation of one operation, is not offset by other successful operations), compounds the chance of making a mistake. With all the high technologies, a breach was expected in the defense of the skies of the State of Israel. Even if we got 90% protection it would have been a miracle!! What happened is that everyone, but everyone - the pilots, the systems operators and the technology operators acted as one man, at one moment in total unity. If this is not an act of G-d, then I no longer know what a miracle is. It is Greater than the victory of the Six Day War or the War of Independence. Those wars can also be explained through natural events. BUT The rescue that took place for the people of Israel on Motzai Shabbat is simply impossible naturally. I believe that this miracle saved the lives of many people from Israel. If the defense system had failed to intercept a number of cruise missiles, the result would have dragged us into a very complex war. I wouldn't bet that next time it will work like this without Divine supervision. The simple proof of what I said is that the managers of the defense industries, who develop and manufacture these systems guarantee no more than 90% success! The Midrash says that Adam, who was the source of all of us sinned, leaving all of his descendants imperfect. Each of us is imperfect in his or her own way (how's that for PC?). You are judged only by how well you did in dealing with your own specific brand of imperfection. What happens if you fail? Hashem will help you, do miracles for you, pull you out of the hole you dig. The word "ness"., miracle, literally means flagpole, a means of seeing a flag that invisibly tells you Hashem is there, cares, loves and will turn the world over for us. What happened to her afterwards is also interesting. When the popular television program 'This is Your Life" aired Hanna Kohner's story in 1953, she became the first Holocaust survivor to share her story on American television. It's a story her daughter Julie Kohner is working to keep alive today, now that her mother, who died in 1990, is gone. 'I have the responsibility of ensuring that Hanna's story is not forgotten,"  Her mother, a Jewish woman from Czechoslovakia, survived four concentration camps, including Auschwitz. She and her childhood sweetheart and fiance Walter were separated by the beginning of World War II. He had secured a visa to the United States and promised to send for her. When the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia, she fled to Amsterdam, where she met and married a German refugee. The couple were eventually caught and arrested by the Gestapo after the Netherlands was invaded, and she never saw her first husband again. For seven years she lived a nightmare, falling to 73 pounds. When sent to bathe in Auschwitz, she never knew if she was being sent to shower with water or poison gas. She was eventually transferred to Mauthausen, where U.S. soldiers liberated her and other survivors. One of those soldiers wrote a letter to Walter, who started a search across Europe to find her. The reunited couple moved to Los Angeles. Hanna's brother also survived Auschwitz - the only other member of their family to survive - but they weren't reunited until the 'This Is Your Life," episode. Their emotional reunion was broadcast across the country. 'This is how America saw it. This was the first person on television to introduce America to the Holocaust," Julie Kohner said. 'People weren't talking about the Holocaust in their homes, let alone on television." Hanna wrote her story down in 'Hanna & Walter: A Love Story," a book that details what she experienced in the camps. Julie Kohner played a clip from a 1984 book tour interview with her parents. The host asked Hanna how she felt when people expressed doubt the Holocaust existed. 'This is why I had to write my side of the story," she replied. 'If we don't put it down and tell it to our children, there will be a day where people will doubt whether this really happened." That sentiment inspired Kohner to create a non-profit, 'Voices of the Generations," and an affiliated middle and high school curriculum. The curriculum centers on her mother's book and incorporates the 'This is Your Life" episode. During her visit to Cedar Rapids, Kohner and a member of the Thaler Holocaust Memorial Fund met with Cedar Rapids School Board members to talk about the possibility of using the curriculum in local schools. She said board members told her they will review the curriculum and hope to have a decision this summer. The Thaler Holocaust Memorial Fund was established in 1995 by David and Joan Thaler to provide support for education about the Holocaust to residents and students in Linn County. T She said sometimes students ask her why this story is important. She said she was she simply points to current events. 'We saw what happened in Paris recently. There's hatred. It's around," she said. 'Look what's happening now, even in Ferguson, Missouri." She said the children of the survivors have a responsibility to keep the story of what their parents endured alive. What do you call kids in the military? Infantry. A soldier shows up for military training but realizes he forgot to bring his gun. The sergeant hands him a stick and gestures to the training field. "You'll have to use this, soldier. If you need to shoot someone, just aim your stick at them and shout 'Bangity bang-bang'. If someone gets too close to you, poke them in the gut with it as though it was a bayonette and shout 'Stabbity stab-stab'. Now get moving." The soldier takes aim with his stick and shouts, "Bangity-bang-bang!" But the other soldier doesn't go down this time. He keeps approaching, arms stiff at his sides, boots stomping aggressively into the ground. The soldier begins to sweat. He clears his throat, adjusts grip on his stick and hollers, "Bangity bang-bang!" But nothing happens. The other soldier keeps marching toward him. Now the soldier panics. He pretends to reload his stick and desperately cries out, "Bangity bang-bang! Bangity bang-bang! Stabbity stab-stab!" But to his dismay, nothing works. Finally, the other soldier reaches him, kicks him in the shin and knocks him onto the ground. He stands over the fallen soldier and says: "Tankity tank-tank."
