See Beyond Your Pain

When someone insults you, try to find some good reason why he did it. Maybe he felt he had a right (or even an obligation) to say what he did.

It is difficult to find merit in your insulter, but it is a sign of greatness to be able to overcome negative feelings and judge him favorably.

US salmon may carry Japanese tapeworm, scientists say

Sorry to interrupt dinner, but you're probably going to want to choose the steak over the salmon.

A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's monthly journal Emerging Infectious Diseases found that wild Alaskan salmon has been infected by a gross parasite known as Japanese broad tapeworm. The scientific term for the parasite is Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense.

CNN reports that the the worm was commonly perceived to infect fish in Asia. But, it's also been found in wild-caught salmon in Alaska. Even if you live on the East Coast, there's reason for concern. Here's why: The researchers say salmon caught along the entire Pacific coast could be infected with the tapeworm. When the fish is transported around the country, it's done so on ice, but isn't actually frozen, which would kill the tapeworms.

To get specific, the CDC study identified four species of Pacific salmon that were infected with the Japanese tapeworms. They are: Chum salmon, masu salmon, sockeye salmon and pink salmon.

While the health effects aren't too serious, they aren't anything you'd welcome. (Ugh, diarrhea and stomach pains… no thanks!). Plus, even if you don't have symptoms—and many people don't—finding out you've got tapeworm? Ick! We're about to get a little graphic here, but it needs to be said: You'll know if you have tapeworm, Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine told CNN. That's because you'll see bits of tapeworm floating in the toilet water.

The larvae can be killed if the fish is thoroughly cooked. You'll want to make sure it's cooked at 145° Fahrenheit for at least four or five minutes, according to the CNN report. (But still, we get it if you've lost your appetite). Maybe hold off on those salmon sushi rolls?

Tapeworm, aka Neurocysticercosis, aka T. solium: This is Taenia solium, the pork tapeworm that causes one of the grossest diseases we're heard about in a while. It's responsible for the worst headache of Luis Ortiz's life.
When surgeons looked in his brain, they found a "wiggling" tapeworm inside a cyst. That's called neurocysticercosis, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that about a 1,000 people a year get them from eating something infected with "microscopic eggs passed in the feces of a person who has an intestinal pork tapeworm."

f you eat raw or undercooked fish, you risk developing an infection from parasites.

One of the most gruesome is tapeworm, a species of digestive tract-invading parasites that includes Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense, or the Japanese broad tapeworm.Though this worm was commonly believed to infect only fish in Asia, a study published Wednesday in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's monthly journal Emerging Infectious Diseases says wild salmon caught in Alaska had also been infected by this parasite. Based on those results, researchers warn that salmon caught anywhere along the Pacific coast of North America may be infected.

Meet the tapewormThe most common fish tapeworm is Diphyllobothrium latum. In 1986, scientists identified another member of this family, the Japanese broad tapeworm, and believed it had been responsible for about 2,000 infections reported to that point, making it the second most common cause of tapeworm infection. Tapeworms and four other disgusting parasites However, continuing to study the tapeworms using new molecular methods, researchers funded by the Czech Science Foundation discovered they'd been wrong. Almost all of the previous cases of tapeworm infections occurring in Japan, South Korea and the Pacific coast of Russia had actually been caused by Japanese tapeworms rather than D. latum. In fact, Japanese tapeworm larvae, known as plerocercoids, could be found in salmon caught off the coasts of eastern Russia and Japan. Could Japanese tapeworms also be infecting salmon caught in the United States? In July 2013, a team of scientists examined 64 wild Alaskan salmon. After filleting the musculature into narrow slices, the scientists observed these and the internal organs of each fish under a magnifying glass. They discovered larvae, between 8 and 15 millimeters long, that continually elongated and contracted (as worms are known to do). With gene sequencing, they were identified as Japanese tapeworms.Based on the study results, four species of Pacific salmon are known to carry Japanese tapeworm infections: chum salmon, masu salmon, pink salmon and sockeye salmon. Because these salmon are exported on ice -- unfrozen -- and then appear in restaurants around the world, infections caused by the Japanese tapeworm may occur anywhere, from China to Europe, from New Zealand to Ohio.Few have symptomsCompared with an infection resulting from D. latum, "we think this Japanese version would not be any different, although very little is actually known about this variant of tapeworms," said Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine who was not involved in the new study. The worms that invade your brainBecause the Japanese version is from the same family of tapeworms, illness and symptoms should be largely the same, he said. But D. latum and related species (including the Japanese tapeworm) can grow up to 30 feet long, according to the CDC."Actually, most of the people who are infected don't have symptoms," Schaffner said. Some feel a little bit of abdominal discomfort, some have nausea or loose stools, and some even lose a little weight. Most often, tapeworm leads to only minor symptoms, but in exceptional cases the infection can turn into a serious medical problem, according to Roman Kuchta, lead author of the study and a research scientist at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic."Massive infections may result in intestinal obstruction" and painful inflammation of the bile ducts, said Kuchta. "The infections can have a substantial emotional impact on patients and their families, because segments are evacuated over a long period of time. More severe cases may require specialized consultations and complementary analyses, which are costly."Back-to-school worms to watch out forAlong with emotional impact and expenses, there's also the initial shock -- terror, really -- of discovery."The reason you know you have tapeworms is you look in your stool and you find bits of tapeworm floating in the water -- and that usually panics you enormously," Schaffner said. After all, tapeworm infection is very unusual in the United States. After discovering that you're infected, you can collect a sample from your toilet bowl and send it to a lab for testing, and then, with your doctor's help, the tapeworm can be identified and "treated very effectively," Schaffner said.According to Dr. Patrick Okolo, chief of gastroenterology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, the medications used are not typical antibiotics but specialized drugs targeting specific types of parasites. Though the study suggests that infections by Japanese tapeworm may be much more common in the US than anticipated, there's still "no evidence at all about how common it is," Schaffner said. "Is this a teeny-tiny proportion of the population, or is this something the average family doctor better learn about?" he asked. Other options: cooking or freezingThose who prefer the safe side can stick with adequately frozen or cooked fish, according to the CDC. "Cooking for 145 Fahrenheit for four or five minutes will destroy the tapeworm," said Okolo, who was also not involved in the study. "Freezing fish under certain conditions will also destroy the worm and its larvae." Schaffner admits the new study has given him "a little bit of pause -- because I like salmon sushi." He said talk of "emerging infections" or new infections comes about, in part, because new scientific methods are able to identify them.Join the conversation

This view is supported by Jayde Ferguson, a co-author of the new study and a scientist at Alaska Department of Fish and Game."The tapeworm itself is probably not new -- it's just that more skilled parasitologist started looking for it. Identifying these parasites is challenging," said Ferguson. "This was simply a more detailed evaluation of the Diphyllobothrium that has occurred here for over a millennium."Still, there's another important reason "old" infections from one part of the globe emerge as "new" infections on another part of the globe, said Schaffner."Because we do things that we haven't done before," Schaffner said. "Now, we have these fresh caught fish that can be transported anywhere and eaten raw. ... I am sure we will be on the lookout for this kind of tapeworm going forward."

The popular vote for Hillary was only becuase of Califonia voters

We hear a cacophony of blaring and bleating from the media and the Hillary gaggle that she won the popular vote and therefore she should be president, 60,839,497 to 60,265,847.  47.8% to 47,3% with the remaining 4.9% going to the other candidates.

But here are the facts:

Trump won the popular vote in 31 states to her 19 and DC.  62% to her 38%.

Trump led in the total popular vote for all states except California.

Hillary won California 5,860,714 to Trump's 3,151,821.  61.6% to 33.1% exclusive of the other candidates.

Thus California gave Hillary the popular vote for all states as claimed by the Democrats and their media stooges.

But deduct her California vote from her national vote leaving her with 54,978,783, and deduct Trump's California vote from his national total, leaving him with 57,113.976, he wins in a landslide in the other 49 states, 51.3% to her 48.7%.

So, in effect, Hillary was elected president of California and Trump was elected president of the rest of the country by a substantial margin.

This exemplifies the wisdom of the Electoral College, to prevent the vote of any one populace state from overriding the vote of the others.

Trump's Campaign Manager, Kellyanne Conway, whose expertise is polling, saw this early on and devised her strategy of "6 pathways to the White House".

This meant ignoring California with its huge Democrat majority and going after the states that would give him the necessary electoral votes to win, FL, NC, MI, PA, OH, and WI.

At its lowest point since the civil war!  Could this mean the end of the Democrat Party?  When the afternoon of January 20, 2017 arrives, the Republican Party will have:

1)  The Presidency.

2)  A majority of the House of Representatives.

3)  A majority of the Senate.

4)  Almost two-thirds of all the governorships.

5)  Total control of the statehouses in almost two-thirds of all the states.

And in the near future, Republicans will be able to add:

6)  A majority of the Supreme Court.

The above has never happened before in American history.

Think about that and let it sink in for a moment.

And it's all because of one reason:  Barack Obama's forcing his extreme far-left agenda on an unwilling country by executive orders, left wing judges, and obsequious bureaucrats.

It's important to pass this on.  With the demand that we do away with the Electoral College and take the popular vote being pushed by the media, etc., all Americans need to know that the Electoral College is working exactly as our Founding Fathers intended.

Iran Received 'Billions' From Obama Administration in Cash, Gold & Assets Iran has received billions of dollars in cash and gold from the Obama administration according to two US news outlets. By: Hana Levi Julian Published: January 15th, 2017

he Islamic Republic of Iran has received more than $10 billion in cash, gold bullion and assets from the Obama administration since 2013, according to reports by the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Free Beacon.

The payments were made primarily to keep Iran at the negotiating table, to ensure that American hostages were freed and finally, to secure and keep the July 2015 nuclear deal in place. For most of the time U.S. lawmakers did not know the payments were to be made in cash, and the White House did not return calls from concerned members of Congress.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahram Ghasemi was quoted by the Wall Street Journal as saying the amount of $10 billion just "scratches the surface" of the total paid to Tehran over the past several years.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Ghasemi was quoted in Persian language reports independently translated for the news outlet as saying that figure was actually a "stingy" estimate. Cash, gold and other assets were transferred by Washington DC to Iran's Central Bank, where they were "spent," he said.

"After the Geneva conference and the resulting agreement, it was decided that $700 million dollars were to be dispensed per month" by the U.S., according to Ghassemi. "In addition to the cash funds which we received, we [also] received our deliveries in gold, bullion, and other things," he said, Free Beacon quoted.

What's important to remember in reading these figures is where this money goes when it's "spent." Iran uses these and other resources to fund its regional terrorist operations in the Middle East, and to support the military operation in Syria.

That means the Obama administration was indirectly funding the support of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah – and their attacks on Israel.

The Outcome Of Your Actions Are Up To G-d

Those who trust in G-d constantly have peace of mind.

This does not mean we should sit back and refrain from taking action for our welfare. Rather, it means that even when you do take action, you realize that the ultimate outcome is up to the Almighty. Hence you will have peace of mind regardless of the outcome.

Moreover, while you will take action, you will not panic. You will do what is necessary under the circumstances, but will not act out of anxiety and "desperation."

I once had a discussion with an Indian friend of mine. He could not wrap his mind around the fact that this truth in life applies not only to the big things but the litttle things as well, becasue there are no little things. Every kindness you do, and in reverse each evil gets paid back to you

logical explanation of the Mid-east

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam.

Forget the Syrian Civil War for a moment. Even without the Sunnis and Shiites competing to give each other machete haircuts every sunny morning, there would still be a permanent Muslim refugee crisis.

The vast majority of civil wars over the last ten years have taken place in Muslim countries. Muslim countries are also some of the poorest in the world. And Muslim countries also have high birth rates.

Combine violence and poverty with a population boom and you get a permanent migration crisis.

No matter what happens in Syria or Libya next year, that permanent migration crisis isn't going away.

The Muslim world is expanding unsustainably. In the Middle East and Asia, Muslims tend to underperform their non-Muslim neighbors both educationally and economically. Oil is the only asset that gave Muslims any advantage and in the age of fracking, its value is a lot shakier than it used to be.

The Muslim world had lost its old role as the intermediary between Asia and the West. And it has no economic function in the new world except to blackmail it by spreading violence and instability.

Muslim countries with lower literacy rates, especially for women, are never going to be economic winners at any trade that doesn't come gushing out of the ground. Nor will unstable dictatorships ever be able to provide social mobility or access to the good life. At best they'll hand out subsidies for bread.

The Muslim world has no prospects for getting any better. The Arab Spring was a Western delusion.

Growing populations divided along tribal and religious lines are competing for a limited amount of land, power and wealth. Countries without a future are set to double in size.

There are only two solutions; war or migration.

Either you fight and take what you want at home. Or you go abroad and take what you want there.

Let's assume that the Iraq War had never happened. How would a religiously and ethnically divided Iraq have managed its growth from 13 million in the eighties to 30 million around the Iraq War to 76 million in 2050?

The answer is a bloody civil war followed by genocide, ethnic cleansing and migration.

What's happening now would have happened anyway. It was already happening under Saddam Hussein.

Baghdad has one of the highest population densities in the world. And it has no future. The same is true across the region. The only real economic plan anyone here has is to get money from the West.

Plan A for getting money out of the West is creating a crisis that will force it to intervene. That can mean anything from starting a war to aiding terrorists that threaten the West. Muslim countries keep shooting themselves in the foot so that Westerners will rush over to kiss the booboo and make it better.

Plan B is to move to Europe.

What's This?
And Plan B is a great plan. It's the only real economic plan that works. At least until the West runs out of native and naïve Westerners who foot the bill for all the migrants, refugees and outright settlers.

For thousands of dollars, a Middle Eastern Muslim can pay to be smuggled into Europe. It's a small investment with a big payoff. Even the lowest tier welfare benefits in Sweden are higher than the average salary in a typical Muslim migrant nation. And Muslim migrants are extremely attuned to the payoffs. It's why they clamor to go to Germany or Sweden, not Greece or Slovakia. And it's why they insist on big cities with an existing Muslim social welfare infrastructure, not some rural village.

A Muslim migrant is an investment for an entire extended family. Once the young men get their papers, family reunification begins. That doesn't just mean every extended family member showing up and demanding their benefits. It also means that the family members will be selling access to Europe to anyone who can afford it. Don't hike or raft your way to Europe. Mohammed or Ahmed will claim that you're a family member. Or temporarily marry you so you can bring your whole extended family along.

Mohammed gets paid. So does Mo's extended family which brokers these transactions. Human trafficking doesn't just involve rafts. It's about having the right family connections.

And all that is just the tip of a very big business iceberg.

Where do Muslim migrants come up with a smuggling fee that amounts to several years of salary for an average worker? Some come from wealthy families. Others are sponsored by crime networks and family groups that are out to move everything from drugs to weapons to large numbers of people into Europe.

Large loans will be repaid as the new migrants begin sending their new welfare benefits back home. Many will be officially unemployed even while unofficially making money through everything from slave labor to organized crime. European authorities will blame their failure to participate in the job market on racism rather than acknowledging that they exist within the confines of an alternate economy.

It's not only individuals or families who can pursue Plan B. Turkey wants to join the European Union. It's one solution for an Islamist populist economy built on piles of debt. The EU has a choice between dealing with the stream of migrants from Turkey moving to Europe. Or all of Turkey moving into Europe.

The West didn't create this problem. Its interventions, however misguided, attempted to manage it.

Islamic violence is not a response to Western colonialism. Not only does it predate it, but as many foreign policy experts are so fond of pointing out, its greatest number of casualties are Muslims. The West did not create Muslim dysfunction. And it is not responsible for it. Instead the dysfunction of the Muslim world keeps dragging the West in. Every Western attempt to ameliorate it, from humanitarian aid to peacekeeping operations, only opens up the West to take the blame for Islamic dysfunction.

The permanent refugee crisis is a structural problem caused by the conditions of the Muslim world.

The West can't solve the crisis at its source. Only Muslims can do that. And there are no easy answers. But the West can and should avoid being dragged down into the black hole of Muslim dysfunction.

Even Germany's Merkel learned that the number of refugees is not a finite quantity that can be relieved with a charitable gesture. It's the same escalating number of people that will show up if you start throwing bags of money out of an open window. And it's a number that no country can absorb.

Muslim civil wars will continue even if the West never intervenes in them because their part of the world is fundamentally unstable. These conflicts will lead to the displacement of millions of people. But even without violence, economic opportunism alone will drive millions to the West. And those millions carry with them the dysfunction of their culture that will make them a burden and a threat.

If Muslims can't reconcile their conflicts at home, what makes us think that they will reconcile them in Europe? Instead of resolving their problems through migration, they only export them to new shores. The same outbursts of Islamic violence, xenophobia, economic malaise and unsustainable growth follow them across seas and oceans, across continents and countries. Distance is no answer. Travel is no cure.

Solving Syria will solve nothing. The Muslim world is full of fault lines. It's growing and it's running out of room to grow. We can't save Muslims from themselves. We can only save ourselves from their violence.

The permanent Muslim refugee crisis will never stop being our crisis unless we close the door.

See you tomorrow
