The vaccines are here because of Bibi

Many refuse to give the PM any credit for the success of Israel's vaccination campaign despite the words of Pfizer's CEO. Op Ed

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in no uncertain terms that Israel had the vaccine as early as it did and in the quantities that it did because of… Bibi.

Period. Bibi brought them here. Bibi led this country to where it is in terms of the pandemic.

The country has opened up ahead of almost the entire world.

Were there thousands of deaths in Israel? Yes. Is that a horrible tragedy? Absolutely. Was it on Bibi's watch? Yep. Is it his fault? Um, no. It's called a global pandemic.

Bibi got us out of this because of his "Obsession" for saving lives. That's not what I'm saying. That's what the CEO said.

But the "Anti-Bibi camp" can't give him that. Why is it so difficult for people to say that they don't like the man but to give him credit where credit is due?

It's actually unbelievable to me that normal, intelligent people can actually carry out a rational conversation about why Bibi isn't responsible for getting us out of COVID!

It sort of reminds me of the leftist opinion on the conflict.

"The Palestinians want peace. We just have to give them what they want!"

"Um; show me one Palestinian leader who says Israel has a right to exist! One!"

Do you know what "From the river to the sea" means? It means no Israel!

"Weren't they offered a state in 1948 but rejected it because they don't want a state, they want no Israel?"

"No, they don't mean it. They really do want peace!"

"But they say they don't!"

"Don't listen to them. They don't know what they want."

"Ok, got it!"

"But he brought the vaccines here before anyone else got them."

"Nope. Not him."

"But the CEO said explicitly that he gave them to Israel because of Bibi!"

"Yes. It's horrible. And we got out of it before millions more died thanks to the vaccines that Bibi brought."

"Na, we are just guinea pigs testing out the vaccines."

"Um, the whole world is using it now. We just had it first and managed to vaccinate the whole country before other countries even got started."

"Yea, but Bibi has indictments. He needs to go."

"Ever hear of innocent until proven guilty? You know? That rule of a democracy, the thing you mention every chance you get?"

"He's been in power too long."

"Fine. So who can replace him? Gantz who can't get the name of a news reporter right or Lapid who didn't finish high school but lied about it?"

"Anyone but Bibi" and I'm going to go protest to get him out of office even though he got more votes than any other candidate by far! Yes, I'm gonna go yell and shout in the streets while condemning the ultra orthodox for going to a funeral. As long as Bibi goes home."

"Got it. Solid argument."

This is so tiring already. Give it a rest and be grateful that we are getting back to life thanks to our obsessive prime minister.

Israel May Be First to Reach 'Herd Immunity from COVID-19

A computational biologist at the Weizmann Institute of Science says Israel may have reached a "sort of herd immunity" from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Speaking with Israel's Channel 12 television news team, biology expert Eran Segal said the number of Israel's daily coronavirus cases has dropped by 97 percent since January.

The term, "herd immunity" – or community immunity – means a large part of the population in a specific area is immune to a specific disease. If enough people are immune to the cause of the disease, like a virus or a bacteria, the disease has nowhere to go.

There were just 86 new cases of the virus diagnosed this weekend, with less than one percent of COVID-19 tests having returned with positive results.

"It is possible that Israel has reached a sort of herd immunity," Segal said. "But in any case, we have a wide safety net. I think that makes it possible to remove some of the restrictions immediately."

Segal added that there was no spike in new cases after the Purim and Passover holiday gatherings, and the reopening of the nation's economy. If confirmed, it may mean that Israel will become the first country in the world to reach the "herd immunity milestone."

More than 4.9 million Israelis are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. A total of 5,310,216 Israelis have been inoculated with at least the first of the two-dose vaccine regimen.

Israel's outdoor mask mandate is expected to be lifted by the Health Minister later this month in light of the improvement.

Former FDA Chief Says Social Distancing Mandate 'Wasn't Based on Clear Science'

Former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said that the six-foot social distancing mandate that was employed across much of the United States and the world to deal with the CCP virus pandemic "wasn't based on clear science."

"This six-foot distancing requirement has probably been the single costliest mitigation tactic that we've employed in response to COVID … and it really wasn't based on clear science. … We should have re-adjudicated this much earlier," he said in an interview with CNBC.

Amid the relaxation of CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus guidelines—including one from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) saying it's safe for schoolchildren to have three-foot distancing—Gottlieb suggested that masks may also be safely removed.

"We now know that the vaccines dramatically reduce your chance of both contracting COVID and becoming symptomatic to the point where you are going to have a bad outcome; we also know it reduces asymptomatic disease and reduces transmission … we are seeing that in the data," he said.

Gottlieb also was asked about a public dispute between Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who also is a physician, about whether masks should be worn after a recipient is vaccinated for the CCP virus, which causes the disease COVID-19.

"You're telling everyone to wear a mask," Paul told Fauci, who has faced increasing pushback over his statements in the press. "If we're not spreading the infection, isn't it just theater? You have the vaccine and you're wearing two masks, isn't that theater?"

Fauci responded by saying that "masks are not theater" and that he "totally disagree[s]" with Paul's statement.

Gottlieb said "both [Paul and Fauci] made valid points," but noted that "Senator Paul was right, we need to see light at the end of the tunnel and have guidance that prescribes an environment where people can start doing things again."

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said on March 19 that new studies have shown that in schools, three-foot distancing is sufficient if other health safeguards are in place. Studies have found that there is a low transmission of the virus in schools.

"These include universal and correct use of masks, physical distancing, hand washing, and respiratory etiquette, cleaning to maintain healthy facilities and diagnostic testing with rapid and efficient contact tracing in combination with isolation in quarantine and in collaboration with local health departments," Walensky told CNN.

Fauci responded by saying that "masks are not theater" and that he "totally disagree[s]" with Paul's statement.
