The Portion of Miketz Light at the End of the Tunnel Years of darkness pass over Joseph after being thrown into prison for no legitimate reason Even Pharoh's Chief Butler, in whom Joseph at placed his hope, forgot all about him. Pharoh then dreams a dream which no one is able to interpret. And then the Chief Butler remembers Joseph., who is summoned to the palace to interpret Pharoh's dream. As a result of the successful interpretation, Joseph is appointed to a senior position, symbolized by his being given Pharoh's ring. Joseph is enrobed with royal garments and here the darkness gives way to the light at the end of the tunnel. All this transpires as Joseph is thirty years old and this is alluded to by the addition to the letter "lamed" (whose numerical value is thirty) in the word "vayalbeish" (and he attired him) (Genesis 41;42).
