In the decades that followed, the Rebbe revolutionized, inspired and guided the post-Holocaust transformation of the Jewish people that continues to this day. This day, so relevant to every Jew in our generation, is surely a day for reflection, learning, prayer, positive resolutions and acts of loving-kindness. The Three Musketeers at the Kotel The Three are Rabbi Yehuda Glick, famous temple mount activist, and former Israel Mk, and then Robert Weinger, the world's greatest shofar blower and seller of Shofars, and myself after we had gone to the 12 gates of the Temple Mount in 2020 to blow the shofar to ask G-d to heal the world from the Pandemic. It was a highlight to my experience in living in Israel and I put it on my blog each day to remember. Love Rabbi Yehuda Lave. NYC Returns $19 Million Worth of Antiquities Seized from Michael Steinhardt By David Israel Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. on Tuesday announced the return of 58 antiquities valued at close to $19 million to Italy. 21 of the pieces were seized from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many were from the collection of philanthropist Michael Steinhardt, one of the world's largest ancient art collectors, and the chairman of the board at The Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life and Taglit-Birthright Israel. The pieces were trafficked by Giacomo Medici, Giovanni Franco Becchina, Pasquale Camera, and Edoardo Almagiá. Steinhardt received a lifetime ban on acquiring antiquities following the New York County District Attorney's multi-year, multi-national criminal investigation of his "acquisition, possession and sale of more than 1,000 antiquities since at least 1987." In December 2021, Steinhardt struck a deal with the NYC DA to return 180 items with an estimated value of $70 million, in exchange for the dismissal of a grand jury investigation into his collection. Steinhardt kept the remaining pieces that he purchased legally. On Thursday, AFP reported that the authorities in New York announced the return of 16 antiquities to Egypt, including five works that were seized from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nine of the pieces had been in the possession of Michael Steinhardt. In May and June this year, five additional pieces worth $3.1 million were seized from the Met, at the conclusion of a probe of the US and French authorities into the criminal activities of former Louvre director Jean-Luc Martinez. Former DA Cyrus Vance Jr. said on December 6, 2021, that "for decades, Michael Steinhardt displayed a rapacious appetite for plundered artifacts without concern for the legality of his actions, the legitimacy of the pieces he bought and sold, or the grievous cultural damage he wrought across the globe." Steinhardt's attorney argued that many of the dealers from whom his client had bought the artifacts "made specific representations as to the dealers' lawful title to the items, and their alleged provenance." "These 58 pieces represent thousands of years of rich history, yet traffickers throughout Italy utilized looters to steal these items and to line their own pockets," District Attorney Bragg said on Tuesday. "For far too long, they have sat in museums, homes, and galleries that had no rightful claim to their ownership. Exposing these schemes takes years of diligent and difficult investigative work, and I applaud our team of prosecutors and analysts, who in coordination with our law enforcement partners, are continuing to make unparalleled progress in returning stolen antiquities." Fabrizio Di Michele, Consul General of Italy, announced: "We praise the intense and fruitful cooperation between Italian and US authorities, and notably with the New York County District Attorney's Office, for the recovery of looted or stolen antiquities. These extraordinary 58 masterpieces are an invaluable treasure of our history and heritage. It is to be underlined that this is the third repatriation ceremony that takes place in just nine months. I wish to acknowledge once more the work done by District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his outstanding team, as well as the Homeland Security Investigations, and our irreplaceable Carabinieri's Comando Tutela Patrimonio Culturale. The return of these artifacts to the places they belong is a testimony to their tireless and steadfast commitment." The bartender nods excitedly, and sees the man pull out a frog from his coat this time. He leans in and says, "Sing." The frog opens his mouth and begins singing a deep and rich love song. Everyone stops talking in the bar to listen to this frog. They have tears in their eyes, thinking about the ones they love, the loves that they let slip away. Not a dry eye in the bar. When the frog stops singing, the whole bar bursts into applause, and the weeping bartender gives the man the whole bottle of fine Scotch. One of the businessmen comes up to the man and says, "Hey buddy, you look hard up. I'll give you five thousand dollars for the frog, what do you say?" The man thinks it over, says yes, and accepts five thousand dollars that the businessman offers. The businessman takes the frog and runs out. By JERUSALEM POST STAFF New research highlights that a person with blood type A might be more likely to have an early-onset stroke while a person with blood type O is less likely to suffer one. The study, published on Wednesday in the journal Neurology, analyzed 48 studies involving almost 17,000 people with a stroke and more than 570,000 people with no past reported strokes. "Our meta-analysis looked at people's genetic profiles and found associations between blood type and risk of early-onset stroke. The association of blood type with later-onset stroke was much weaker than what we found with early stroke," said study co-principal investigator Braxton Mitchell. Which blood types are more likely to suffer strokes? Mitchell and his research team, from University of Maryland School of Medicine, examined the potential correlation between blood type and ischemic stroke risk, the most common type of stroke. Looking at the four main blood groups, study included the blood types A, AB, B, and O, they found that people with blood type A had the highest risk for early-onset stroke, which occurs before age 60. To get to this conclusion, the researchers divided participants by blood type and compared this with stroke status: early stroke, late stroke, and no stroke. They found that people with early stroke were more likely to have blood type A and less likely to have type O when compared to people who had a stroke at a later age or people who had no stroke history. "Our meta-analysis looked at people's genetic profiles and found associations between blood type and risk of early-onset stroke." Braxton Mitchell Furthermore, the team noted that people with both early and late stroke were more likely to have type B when compared to a control group. In 2020, nearly 3.5 million people worldwide died from an ischemic stroke, according to the American Heart Association. University of Maryland School of Medicine Dean Mark Gladwin noted the urgency of continuing the research. "This study raises an important question that requires deeper investigation into how our genetically predetermined blood type may play a role in early stroke risk," he said.
