Modern Architecture and Train in China.. Wow!! Plan to come to hear Rabbi Sprecher next Saturday night May 26th, 2012 with a taste of Israel

Practicing Foresight

Neglecting to look ahead is a prime cause of unhappiness. One who overeats disparages the value of food. A quarrelsome man complains against the blessings of marriage, relatives and neighbors. By practicing foresight, many evils can be avoided.

Love Yehuda

I will repeat this announcement several times over the next week, since I know that everybody doesn't get a chance to check my email every day. Next Saturday (the 26th), my friends (and anyone else that wants to come to San Diego) will have the unique opportunity to hear one of my primary teachers from my years in Israel, teach over the Shavout holiday. You don't have to come to prayer services. Just come to the lectures about the interesting topics below. On Saturday night the 26th we have the custom to stay up all night and study the bible through these lectures. Anyone interested, please contact me for details.

All you really need for this is a little bit of slave labor. Say maybe 80%.  I wonder how many day laborers can afford to ride this train.
The countries of the world owe China more money than they can ever pay back.
China is buying and or building something all around the world.
They are building all kinds of things all over China .
And they are debt free, and they don't have anyone shooting at them and no wars to fight.
Or a ship load of people trying to get into their country.
Tell me what are they doing right, and the rest of us doing wrong???
And they still have the money to build this train line???
.
New Chinese Train...unbelievable!

Better thinker ideas and help cleaning and the Vietnam Caves

Hold That Thought

Everyone has moments of greater clarity and inspiration. Your brain has probably experienced this a number of times. After each such moment your brain is upgraded. Even if a moment of clarity and inspiration doesn't last in its entirety, it serves as a beacon of light that shines on the road. This enables you to see further down the path and makes your journey a bit easier.

As your brain contemplates what it has gained from past moments of clarity and inspiration, you will be able to upgrade new moments with the same light.

How to think better

http://www.quora.com/Cristina-Hartmann

So, what's an aspiring thinker to do? Here's a few suggestions:

1. Pause

Stop. Think. A lot of people pass through life, too busy with the daily doings of life. Focusing too much on the relatively minor details hampers your thinking. Just take a few moments every day (or one day per week) and just think.

If you don't allow yourself time to think, then you end up substituting conventional wisdom for true thinking. There's a reason why busy people don't write deep philosophical texts, or even think broadly. They just don't have the time. Thinking isn't something that you can do properly when you're focusing your mind on something else.

2. Question Assumptions

Shortcuts are fun. Shortcuts are easy. That's fine for walking to work, but not for thinking. Intellectual shortcuts mean that you're not thinking about the brass tacks. You're not thinking about the foundation of your ideas and theories. It's intellectual laziness, pure and simple.

Think about why you and other people think a certain way. Consider what factors contribute to conventional wisdom. Does these factors apply to your case? For example, it's conventional wisdom to buy a house when you have money. But does it really suit your life? What if you're the nomad type and you want the freedom to pack up your bags and go at a drop of a hat? A house purchase is a great idea if you're planning to stay somewhere for years.

Analyze the brass tacks yourself. Don't rely on others to think for you.

3. Break it Down

Henry Ford had it right when he automated his factories. Tasks are easier when they are broken down to smaller pieces. This process applies to thinking as well. Thinking about an issue or problem in discrete chunks makes you a more thorough and meticulous thinker.

Yet, that begs the question. How do you break down your problem into smaller pieces? That takes some serious intellectual horsepower. Here's where my next point comes in -- find patterns.

4. Find Patterns

Pattern recognition requires high-level abstract thinking. It's truly seeing forests, not obsessing over individual trees. There's no one direct route to pattern recognition expertise, so I won't even try to list them.

There are, however, some universal themes and rules -- especially in writing and fiction. If you gather enough knowledge and insights, you may be able to recognize these themes when they arise. Over time, you'll develop an instinct for pattern recognition. This is an art, not a science. For anyone to achieve pattern recognition skills, one must explore.

5. Explore Different Subjects and Interests

It's great to become an expert at something. Specialization is crucial in today's economy, but it doesn't do much for independent thinking. Break free of your usual books and television shows. Try some new subjects and ideas.

As you become more knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, you get better at pattern recognition. You get more creative. Maybe that theme you read in a literary novel can apply to economics. Your intellect is a muscle, you need to exercise it in different ways for it to fully develop.

6. Ask "What if...?"

As others have said, learn about different viewpoints on a subject. That will help you think about possible angles. No problem has only one angle. It's your job to find all possible distinctions that you may make.

The best way to test the boundaries of your ideas and issues is to ask what if? This will allow you to understand distinctions. Great thinkers can address ambiguities because they understand that details matter. Details can affect outcomes. it's just a matter of figuring out which details are important. That's why it's important to ask "what if..?"

7. Rinse and Repeat -- Practice Makes Perfect

Thinking is like any other skill. Practice leads to improvement. Once you practice something often enough, it'll become a habit. You'll think critically and logically about everything -- including your grocery shopping list. (Not sure if that's a good thing.)

Opportunities for concerted practice are hard to come by these days. Purely intellectual conversations are relegated to college students, hipsters and academics. Fortunately for you, there are some great places to practice. Quora for one. You should write every answer -- even frivolous ones -- seriously. Think about pattern recognition and alternative arguments. Also, surround yourself with intellectually curious people. Their conversations will get your brain spinning.

We are in trouble! And flower slides and the buzzard

Greet Everyone with a Smile

"The Bible  ideal is to greet each and every person with a pleasant facial expression."  ( from Tomar Devorah, ch.2) .

When you greet someone in a friendly way, you never know what a positive effect you will have. A certain individual who greeted everyone with a smile and kind words was approached by someone and told, "You saved my life." The person went on to tell how he'd suffered a number of serious setbacks and was contemplating suicide. He felt totally alone and depressed and felt that no one cared about him. Then this fellow greeted him with a sincere smile and a cheerful voice. This immediately lifted up his spirits and he was resolved to continue living.

Experiment just for today. Greet everyone you encounter with a smile. If you need to, visualize yourself greeting others in a cheerful and friendly way. Note how they react. A smile is contagious and can potentially transform the mood of thousands!

Love  Rabbi Yehuda Lave

Last night we went to a seminar on Human Rights at the University of California San Diego and on leaving a young Christian lady saw me and immediately asked to pray for me to have a full recovery from my broken arm (yesterday was one month since it happened). She did one better than greeting me with a smile, she greeting me with a prayer in G-d's name.

King David's 3,025th Birthday Celebrated at New Museum

by Gil Ronen King David's 3,025th Birthday Bash at New Museum

A new museum in Tel Aviv – the Beit David Museum, dedicated to the House of David – offers two fun-filled free days honoring the holiday of Shavuot, which is also celebrated as the 3,025th birthday of greatest Jewish king ever.

The twin-day treat will take place on Monday, 21.5, and Tuesday, 22.5. It will include a lecture at 7:00 p.m. Monday by Dr. Chaim Luria on genealogy and King David's DNA, and events for children starting at 11:00 a.m. on the following day. These will include actors dressed as biblical characters who will teach the children about King David in a fun way.

The museum, located on 5 Brenner St. in central Tel Aviv, opened just four months ago. It contains archeological exhibits from First and Second Temple times and includes artifacts of special significance in the story of King David: for instance, one section displays slingshot stones found in the Emek HaEla region, where David killed Goliath with a single accurate stone to the head.

In another room, a video shows the life of King David, from his humble beginning as a lonely shepherd until his anointment as king. Another video explains the art of lyre-making, and based on writings that describe how King David built the lyres he played.

The museum prides itself on the Genealogy Center, a database that traces the descendants of King David to this very day. It is centered on Rashi, a famous descendant of David, and his progeny. It includes over 100 surnames of present-day families descended from the greatest king of all. The results of the research are presented in the museum and can be accessed through a special website

Susan Roth, founder of the King David Museum and the Genealogy Center, is herself a direct descendant of King David.

you never saw this coming? where have you been?

The
population of this country is 310 million.

160
million are retired.

That leaves 140 million to do the
work.

There are 85 million in school.

Which leaves 55 million to do the work.

Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal
government.

Leaving 20 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied
with killing TERRORISTS

Which leaves 17.2
million to do the work.

Take from that total the 15.8
million people who work for state and city
Governments. And that
leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given
time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving
1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people
in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the
work.

You and me.

And there
you are,

Sitting on your rear,

At your computer, reading jokes

Nice. Real nice.

 THE BUZZARD

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly,
will be an absolute prisoner.

The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of
10 to 12 feet.

Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly,

But will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

-------------------------------

THE BAT

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place.

If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air.

Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

-------------------------------

THE BUMBLEBEE

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out.

It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom.

It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.

-------------------------------

PEOPLE

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee.

We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up!

That's the answer, the escape route and the solution to any problem...

Just look up!

--------------------------------
Sorrow looks back,

Worry looks around,

But faith looks up!

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly, and

Trust in our Creator,

Who loves us.

Share this with a friend... I just did.

Israel at 64 and a friend in need video about a good deed will bring on the tears

Life Isn't a Competitive Game

Each human being is unique and one of a kind. We each have a unique purpose in life. We each have our own unique ability to connect with our Creator. We each have our own strengths and weaknesses, virtues and faults. We are not meant to be an exact clone of anyone else. Therefore, life isn't a competitive game. We each are meant to serve the Almighty with our unique character, temperament, and personality based on our unique life situations and circumstances in the past and present.

Love Yehuda

As you can see from the beautiful video  below that as I have said above, we can each find a way to make the world a better place with a good deed.

A friend in need is a friend indeed

The Roy Rogers Museum Is Closed For Good... and overpopulated lands.......and Self Image

This, Too, Will Build My Self-Image

Each and every day you will have many opportunities to build yourself and your self-image. Every positive thought, word, and action builds you.

When you see that you have behaved in a positive way, you can say to yourself, "This, too, will build my self-image."

If you have not behaved the way you would have liked, you can think about how you wished to have thought, spoken, and acted. Thinking about what you want to be like conditions your mind to think, speak, and act more in that way. You can say about this pattern of thinking, "This, too, will build my self-image."

The Roy Rogers Museum has closed its doors for good.
A time in history, never to be seen again, but what a ride it was.

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU! THOSE WERE THE DAYS, MY FRIEND!

The Roy Rogers Museum in Branson , MO has closed its doors forever. The contents of the museum were sold at a public auction. Roy Rogers told his son, if the museum ever operates at a loss, close it and sell the contents. He complied. Here is a partial listing of some of the items that were sold at auction

Roy's 1964 Bonneville sold for $254,500, it was estimated to sell between 100 and 150 thousand dollars.
His script book from the January 14,1953 episode of "This Is Your Life" sold for $10,000 (est. $800-$1,000).

A collection of signed baseballs (Pete Rose, Duke Snyder and other greats) sold for $3,750.

A collection of signed bats (Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Bob Feller and others) sold for $2,750.

Trigger's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500 (est. 100-150 K).

One of many of Roy 's shirts sold for $16,250 and one of his many cowboy hats sold for $17,500.

One set of boot spurs sold for $10,625. (He never used a set of spurs on Trigger).

A life size shooting gallery sold for $27,500.

Various chandeliers sold from $6,875 to $20,000. Very unique and artistic in their western style.

A signed photograph by Don Larsen taken during his perfect game in the world series against the Dodgers on Oct. 8, 1953, along with a signed baseball to Roy from Don, sold for $2,500.

Two fabulous limited edition BB guns in their original boxes with numerous photos of Roy, Dale, Gabby and Pat sold for $3,750.

A collection of memorabilia from his shows                        entertaining the troops in Vietnam sold for $938. I never knew he was there. His flight jacket sold for $7,500.
His set of dinner ware plates and silverware sold for $11,875. The Bible they used at the dinner table every night sold for $8,750.

One of several of his guitars sold for $27,500.

Nellybelle sold for $116,500.
A fabulous painting of Roy , Dale, Pat, Buttermilk, Trigger and Bullet sold for $10,625.

One of several sets of movie posters sold for $18,750.

A black and white photograph of Gene Autry with a touching inscription from Gene to Roy sold for $17,500.

A Republic Productions Poster bearing many autographs of the people that played in Roy 's movies sold for $11,875.

Dale's horse, Buttermilk (whose history is very interesting) sold below the presale estimate for $25,000. (est. 30-40 K).

Bullet sold for $35,000 (est. 10-15 K). He was their real pet.

Dale's parade saddle, estimated to sell between 20-30 K, sold for $104,500.

One of many pairs of Roy 's boots sold for $21,250.

Trigger sold for $266,500.
Do you remember the 1938 movie The Adventures of Robinhood, with Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland? Well Olivia rode Trigger in that movie.

Trigger was bred on a farm co-owned by Bing Crosby. Roy bought Trigger on a time payment plan for $2,500. Roy and Trigger made 188 movies together. Trigger even outdid Bob Hope by winning an Oscar in the movie "Son of Paleface" in 1953.

It is extremely sad to see this era lost forever. Despite the fact that Gene and Roy 's movies, as well as those of other great characters, can be bought or rented for viewing, today's kids would rather spend their time playing video games. Today it takes a very special pair of parents to raise their kids with the right values and morals. These were the great heroes of our childhood, and they did teach us right from wrong and how to have and show respect for each other and the animals that share this earth.

You and I were born at the right time. We were able to grow up with these great people even if we never met them. In their own way they taught us patriotism and honor, we learned that lying and cheating were bad, and sex wasn't as important as love. We learned how to suffer through disappointment and failure and work through it. Our lives were drug free.

So it's good-bye to Roy and Dale, Gene and Hoppy, The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Farewell to Sky King and Superman and Sgt. Friday. Thanks to Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Rogers and Captain Noah and all those people whose lives touched ours, and made them better.
It was a great ride through childhood.
HAPPY TRAILS MY FRIENDS
