It will look like two intense, silvery-white "stars" almost touching. Here is exactly how and when to catch the conjunction from Israel: When to Look The Best Time: Start looking about 45 minutes after sunset (around 8:30 PM to 8:45 PM Israel Daylight Time). The Window: You will have about a 2 to 2.5-hour window after sunset before the planets sink below the horizon, so don't wait until late at night. By 10:30 PM, they will have already set. Where to Look Direction: Face directly West-Northwest. Position: They will be relatively low on the western horizon. You'll want to find a spot with a clear, unobstructed view of the horizon (away from tall buildings or trees). What you'll see: Venus will be the brighter of the two, positioned just 1.6 degrees slightly above and north of Jupiter. That is roughly the width of your pinky finger held out at arm's length. Bonus Tips If you have a pair of binoculars, bring them along! They will easily fit both planets in the same field of view and might even allow you to glimpse some of Jupiter's largest moons.
