The masked man rides again ..........and Artist John Pugh

Not Speaking Against Others

Some people try to build themselves up by speaking against others. They believe that talking about the faults and limitations of others makes themselves seem better and more elevated than those people.

It is a total illusion to think that you are actually building yourself up when you put others down. Speaking against other people is a violation of the Bible commandment to refrain from speaking lashon hara (negative speech). Someone who speaks against others without a practical and constructive purpose is lowering himself by doing so.

Every time you control what you say and don't speak against others, you become a higher and more elevated person

Taylor Hall, California State University , Chico , California . The Doric-style columns are actually nothing but paint.

 mime-attachment 153.jpeg
Honolulu , Hawaii . This mural took two months of studio work to plan and another six months to execute with the help of 11 other artists. Featured are Queen Liliuokalani, the last monarch of the Hawaiian Islands ,and Duke Kahanamoku, the ultimate father of surfing. Even the stairs and of course, the sightseers, are part of the mural. Hard to believe this isn't 3-D. Check out the wave at the top. The fake skylight. Wow!

This mural at the Cafe Trompe L'oeil, San Jose , California , is entitled "Art Imitating Life Imitating Art Imitating Life."This customer doesn't leave at closing time. And, there is no doorway or stairs to go through or climb... and the statue never needs dusting.

Twenty-nine Palms, California . Valentine the bull and a patient buzzard are waiting for the artist to awake. No way... yep, way. This is all painting. Check along the base of the wall and you can see the seam between the vertical wall and the paved parking lot. How real can it get. Just outstanding.

**34.**  CAN AN ATHEIST GET INSURANCE AGAINST ACTS OF GOD?*

.

Here is a thought that adds perspective:

One of the more common questions asked of a person is, “What do you do?” This question does not refer to the person’s hobbies, vacations or charity work; rather, it is designed to find out how the person makes a living. This is what a person does. A person goes to work every day, and endeavors to make a comfortable income. More often than not, this results in his becoming entirely immersed and absorbed in the pursuit for wealth, every fiber of his being involved in the rat race of life.

This is why the paycheck is so precious; after all, our very life’s blood goes into every penny we earn. When we take part of this and give it away to charity, we bring meaning and significance into our entire workweek. We are demonstrating that we are willing to give to G-d of our very essence.

Does the process of personal redemption start with helping others?

Our sages strongly extol the virtue of charity, going so far as to say that it is “equal to all other mitzvot combined”! Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (founder of Chabad Chassidism, 1745–1812) explains that whereas every mitzvah is designed to introduce holiness into a specific part of our being—the particular limb which performs the mitzvah—charity is the one exception to this rule. The few coins which one puts into a charity box, or the check one writes to a charitable organization, have the ability to sanctify one’s entire being.

In this aspect, monetary charity is much greater than volunteering time to a charitable cause. Volunteering involves donating a certain amount of time to G‑d, one’s fellow man, or both. When the hour or two conclude, one returns to a normal, self-absorbed daily schedule, and the kindness is now part of the past. Charity, however, elevates the entire labor which netted the earnings, and the entire individual who toiled—physically and mentally—for this livelihood.

In order to start the process of redemption, it is first necessary to make the major step of infusing the whole day with an aura of holiness. Only then can one successfully confront all the struggles and tribulations which he will certainly encounter on this challenging yet rewarding journey. Charity has the ability to suffuse the most mundane business meeting with holy purpose.

Famous Last Words and Jewish Proverbs words of wisdom on Passover and Good Friday

Progress

Every single human being you ever met, heard about, or read about started his life as an infant. Regardless of how much knowledge anyone has gained, he didn't have it when he was one day old. He needed to learn it piece by piece. Regardless of how much anyone has ever accomplished, he wasn't born with the skills and talents to accomplish anything.

How much progress have you already made from the time you were one day old?

Your progress has made you into what you are now. The progress that you will make from now on will create the rest of your life. May you continue to make more and more progress each day of your life.

------

We've always been intrigued by the last words of others. What did a person use his final mortal breaths to utter? What were they thinking about? Were they scared as they glimpsed the great beyond? Or did they brace up and stoically give up the ghost?

The following 16 men looked death in the eye and embraced whatever came next.

The 80-year-old Corey was accused of witchcraft during the 1692 Salem trials, but he refused to enter a plea to the court. As punishment, he was laid naked in a pit in a field, and slowly pressed to death over two days. Heavy rocks were gradually placed upon his chest--but he refused to cry out in pain, or enter a plea, and each time he was asked to do so, he simply replied: "More weight."

During the War of 1812, Lawrence's ship, the USS Chesapeake engaged in battle with the Royal Navy's HMS Shannon. The captain was mortally wounded with small arms fire, but encouraged his men to keep up the fight. His orders became a popular Naval battle cry.

These were Childers' last words to his firing squad before he was executed in 1922 during the Irish Civil War.

Thomas More was tried and executed for treason in 1535 because he wouldn't support King Henry VII's marriage annulment and denied that the king was the head of the Church. Before being beheaded, he said his last words in reference to his beard. He positioned his beard on the executioner's block so that it wouldn't be harmed while he was beheaded.

On the 800-mile return trip of Robert Falcon Scott's unsuccessful attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole, his team desperately slogged through freezing temperatures and blizzards, trying to stay on schedule and reach the supply depots along the way. Oates' feet were badly frostbitten, and he was slowing down the rest of the men. He volunteered to be left behind, but his comrades refused to leave him. So finally he simply walked outside his tent and into a blizzard, telling the others, "I am just going outside. I may be some time."

Hartley and his fellow band members continued to play as the Titanic sunk, in order to keep the passengers and crew calm. When the last lifeboats had been loaded, the musicians grabbed the railing on top the Grand Staircase's deckhouse, and Hartley said this farewell to them just before a wave hit and washed him overboard.

Patton died in 1945, right before leaving Europe. He was in a car accident en route to a hunting excursion that left him paralyzed from the neck down. He lingered in a hospital in spinal traction for 12 days; twas not the kind of glorious death the lifetime soldier had imagined for himself.

Passionate about the idea of manned flight, Otto Lilienthal was known as the "Glider King" and made over 2,000 flights in glider models he designed himself. In 1896, his glider stalled, and he fell 56 ft, critically fracturing his spine. These were his last words to his brother before he succumbed to the injury.

True story

Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills.  They knew beyond a doubt that the bills weren't representative of their actual usage, and no matter how they tried to conserve, the high bills continue.  Although they could see nothing wrong, they had everything checked for leaks or problems; first the water meter, then outdoor pipes, indoor pipes, underground pipes, faucets, toilets, washer, ice maker, etc., all to no avail..

One day Jim was sick and stayed home in bed, but kept hearing water running downstairs.  He finally got up from his sick bed ( actually sick, but not deaf ) and went to investigate, and stumbled onto the cause of such high water bills.

Apparently this was happening all day long when they were not at home.  Knowing that few would believe him, he taped a segment of the "problem", for posterity.

Matzo Balls! A joke and Palestine Lies

Passover Greetings

Love Yehuda

Happy Passover to you all!

With Passover coming up on Friday Night
here are some points you might want to consider.

A group of leading medical researchers  have published data  indicating that Seder participants should NOT partake of both chopped liver and charoses, it seems that this  combination can lead to Charoses of the Liver.

At our Seder, we had whole wheat and  bran matzoh, fortified with Metamucil.
The brand name, of course, is...'Let My People Go.'

Old Jewish men in Miami get hernias  from  wearing chai's which are too heavy.
This condition is called chaiatal  hernia!

If a doctor carries a black bag and a  plumber carries a tool box, what does a mohel carry?
A briskit!

JEWISH JEOPARDY - We give the answer, you give the question

A:  Midrash
Q: What is a Mideast skin disease?

A: The  Gaza Strip
Q: What is an Egyptian Belly Dance?

A: A classroom, a Passover ceremony, and latke
Q: What are a cheder, a Seder, and a tater?

A: Sofer
Q: On what do Jews recline on Passover?

A:  Babylon
Q: What does the rabbi do during some sermons?

A: Filet Minyan
Q: What do you call steaks ordered by 10 Jews?

A: Kishka, sukkah, and  circumcision.
Q: What are a gut, a hut, and a cut?

And speaking of circumcisions:  An enterprising Rabbi is offering circumcisions via the  Internet.
The  service  is to be called...
'E-MOIL¡

Wishing all my friends and family a happy and healthy Passover filled with good food and warm memories.

CLICK ON MATZO BALLS--This is a funny video--don't take too seriously

This one you can take seriously, the lies coming out of the Middle East

As Jews around the world prepare for Passover On Friday night - the celebration of Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt - Palestinians are working overtime to rewrite history by presenting Moses as "the great Muslim leader who liberated Palestine."

On Palestinian Authority television, Dr. Omar Ja'ara, a lecturer at Al-Najah University in Nablus, declared:

"We must make clear to the world that David in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to David in the Koran, Solomon in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to Solomon in the Koran… and unfortunately, many researchers deny the Exodus of those oppressed people who were liberated by a great leader, like Moses the Muslim, the believing leader, the great Muslim, who was succeeded by Saul, the leader of these Muslims in liberating Palestine. This was the first Palestinian liberation through armed struggle to liberate Palestine…"

This outrage is the latest Palestinian effort to dismiss Jewish nationhood, a corollary to the repeated denial of any Jewish connection to the Holy Land. "The claims of historic and religious ties between Jews and Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history," reads the Palestinian National Charter (Article 18).

When archaeologists in Jerusalem discovered a small golden bell, possibly from a tunic worn by a high priest during the Second Temple period, Palestinian officials angrily said this "underlines the efforts of the occupation and the extremist Jewish groups to falsify history and plant Jewish history forged in the region." And following the release of an iPhone app that sends prayers to the Western Wall, Palestinians immediately went into protest mode, insisted that "the Wailing Wall is an integral part of the al-Aqsa Mosque, and it is exclusively Islamic… and non-Muslims have no right to it, even to the dust of the Wailing Wall." (Palestine News Network, January 4, 2011)

This deceit goes straight to the top: In the words of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, the Jewish people "claim that 2,000 years ago they had a Temple. I challenge the claim that this is so." (Kul Al-Arab, August 25, 2000) The Palestinian ambassador to Washington, Maen Rashid Areikat, claimed that historically the Jewish presence in Israel "never was in Jerusalem, it never was on the coast, it never was in Hebron."

It's all part of an ongoing deligitimization campaign - aided by a willing media. Le Monde, the French newspaper of record, quoted PA cabinet minister Yasser Abed Rabbo: "Looking at the situation from an archaeological standpoint, I am sure there is no temple."

Even canonized Jewish writings, accepted for millennia by billions of people worldwide, are targeted for revision. Speaking on Palestinian TV, researcher Dr. Hayel Sanduqa claimed that the well-known verse from Psalm 137, "If I forget thee, oh Jerusalem," is not a Jewish source at all, but rather words uttered by a Christian Crusader, now "falsified in the name of Zionism." And when the iconic 1970s disco group Boney M played a concert in Ramallah, Palestinian organizers demanded that the band not perform one of its biggest hits, "Rivers of Babylon." Why? Because the song's chorus quotes from the Book of Psalms which - in a brazen act of Zionist propaganda! - refers to the Jewish yearning for the land of Israel.

Follow the steps: First, Palestinians claim that Moses was a Muslim leader and that Jews never lived in Israel. Then before you know it, standard media references to the Jewish Temple - accepted as historical fact by every legitimate archaeologist and scholar - is deemed debatable. London's Daily Telegraph referred to "the Temple Mount, where the two Jewish temples of antiquity are believed to have been built," and Time magazine identified the "Dome of the Rock, where Jews believe Solomon and Herod built the First and Second Temples." Not an indisputable fact of history; just something that "Jews believe."

Beyond the problem of factual inaccuracy, these media manipulations can actually impede the peace process. Invariably, the starting point in any negotiation is whatever is defined in common terms as "normative." With these outrageous pro-Palestinian views reinforced in the media, Palestinians sense the momentum predisposed in their favor, and harbor the illusion of bringing these demands to the negotiating table. Inevitably, Palestinians get a rude awakening every time that Israel - secure in their 4,000-year history and connection to the land - refuses to allow these skewed perceptions to dictate terms of an agreement.

Looking at the bright side, this is surely a good conversation starter for this year's Passover Seder.

Who are they ? and Airplanes and five ways to spirituality

Helping others is a pillar of Judaism (I define Judaism as  spirituality for everyone)

Rabbi Akiva (one of Judaism's greatest sages)  described the verse "Love your fellow as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18) as being "a great Bible principle." ( this quote is from the Jerusalem Talmud – Nedarim 9:4)

How do we fulfill the mitzvah to love your fellow man? Just as each of us has needs and does our best to satisfy them, so too we should view other people's needs as our own. Whether the needs are large or small – whether it's hosting someone in your home for a week or holding the door open for a friend – if you are aware of the situation, that's a signal for you to help.

Think about a time when somebody really cared about you and reached out with unconditional love. Think about the bond that was created and imagine what the world would look like if we acted this way all the time.

There's a deeper side to this as well. Giving to others was G-d's premise for creating the world. After all, God is Infinite and by definition has no needs. So creation was an expression of pure altruistic giving.

Our purpose in life is to emulate G-d. One of the most powerful ways we do so is by giving. When we give to someone, we recognize the common bond between us – our shared status as souls created in the image of G-d. Every human being – whether red, black, or a different religious perspective than me – is created in the image of G-d and thus worthy of profound respect. When we connect to their inner G-dliness we transcend the physical barriers that appear to divide us.

Giving draws us closer, adding another drop of love and unity between us. This is the bedrock of creating a loving family; it is equally crucial to creating a united nation.

Jewish unity was a precondition for entering the Covenant at Mount Sinai to become Jewish. And Jewish unity – pooling all our diverse talents and strengths – is likewise key to fulfilling our national destiny of creating a more spiritual and perfect world.

That does not mean we all need to be identical. Rather, unity means showing respect to each individual and appreciating their unique contribution to the collective whole. According to the Midrash (the oral tradition), there are "seventy faces to the Bible" and each of the Twelve Tribes had their own "gate in Heaven" through which their prayers entered. We are all on the same team – and each of us adds positively to the mix.

Especially in these challenging times, it is crucial that we build unity among all people by engaging in acts of kindness, caring and tolerance toward others. The Talmud says that it was baseless hatred amongst Jews that brought about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Only through unconditional love will it be rebuilt.

So how do we do it?

Here are five practical and immediate ways to fulfill the imperative of "Love your fellow as yourself":

1. Look for ways to help.

Maimonides (Character 6:3) writes that a person should be concerned about other people's spiritual, emotional and material needs, just as one is concerned about his own needs.

Go out of your way to help others. Give a patient, listening ear (with cellphone off) when someone needs to talk. Make suggestions for someone who is trying to find a job or a marriage partner. Offer to grocery shop to give your spouse a break.

Make the commitment to practice one daily act of kindness. Put it in your day timer along with all your other goals, and track it to completion. At the end of the week, reflect back and take pleasure in having accomplished something important..

And don't do things only for "people that you like." The Talmud says it's even greater to help those you have a strained relationship with. That's because the act of giving will build love between you and help mend the rift.

2. Give the benefit of the doubt.

You don't know a person until you've been in his shoes. In other words, you can never really know. Everyone has their challenges; everyone is moving at their own pace. This is the meaning of the Talmudic imperative: "Be patient in judgment" (Ethics of the Fathers 1:1).

Do you keep a different standard of observance than the next guy? Don't judge. The Talmud says: "Nobody knows whose blood is redder." No one can judge the worth of another person because no one knows where the other is situated on the ladder of life – where he began and how many rungs he has climbed. Some people may be born smarter, and some with more talent in one area or another. But that doesn't make one individual any "better." Perhaps a thief, given his life's circumstances, is making greater, more difficult life choices than the finest rabbi.

Try focusing on seeing others with a good eye. Assume that they're "doing the best with what they've got."

3. Focus on the positive.

We all have bad days where we're tense or disappointed. Although I may feel like letting out a burst of criticism, I try to flip it upside down (or right-side up, in this case) – to take that moment of potentially negative interaction and use it to say something complimentary, endearing. Something that will build the other person and build our relationship. It's just a matter of flicking the switch, a decision to unify rather than divide.

When someone helps you out, express gratitude and don't assume the other person "knows" they are appreciated. Everybody (even the most "annoying" person!) has something positive. Give a genuine complement and encourage their good traits. Everybody needs to hear praise – especially someone with low self-esteem. A kind word at the right time can inspire, lift, and even change a life.

The Talmudic sage Shammai exhorts us to "greet every person cheerfully" (Ethics of the Fathers 1:15). No, not the fake kind at the checkout counter. Rather, genuine eye contact that communicates, "You are important" – and punctuated with a smile.

Another aspect to this is how we react to other peoples' success. If we're all in this together, then I will be thrilled for his success.

A corollary of this is to not speak negatively about others (Leviticus 19:16). Gossip is the verbal atomic bomb of relationships. It destroys marriages, businesses, friendships. Just because it's true doesn't mean you need to say it. Big people speak about ideas, average people speak about things, small people speak about people. Be big.

4. Respect elders.

There was a time when society accorded honor to the elderly. Today, when one's worth seems to be based on an ability to master the latest technology, the "older generation" simply cannot compete.

Judaism teaches that every old person has a special wisdom that comes with life experience. Humans are made up of two parts, physical and spiritual. As a person ages, the body weakens, thus enabling the spiritual side to exert itself to a greater degree. The Talmud delineates age 80 as peak spiritual strength – the prime of life!

Thus the Torah specifically instructs us to "honor the elderly" (Leviticus 19:32). On public buses in Israel, for example, the first row of seats is marked with a sign quoting this verse.

We even give honor even to one who no longer possesses full mental faculties. The tablets of the Ten Commandments, which Moses shattered, were kept alongside the new tablets in the Ark of the Covenant. This teaches that we must continue to respect the elderly, even when they are intellectually "broken."

5. Share wisdom.

One of the greatest gifts you can impart is the gift of wisdom.

Whenever you learn something – from books, lectures, or life experience – do so with the goal of sharing with others. If it was fascinating, how did it change you? What did you learn about living? And how can you transfer that insight to others? If something is worth learning, it's worth sharing.

Let's say that your friend is struggling in marriage. If you have an insight into how to achieve marital harmony, share it. Invite your friend for coffee and, without being judgmental or intimidating, impart the wisdom that you know.

Ignorance is a terrible malady. Ignorance can cause untold suffering – mistreatment of children, wasted resources, and suffering in a dead-end job. All out of ignorance. Some diseases only a doctor can treat, but ignorance can be cured by everyone who takes wisdom seriously. When you reduce ignorance in the world, even by a little bit, you offer a great gift to mankind.

You don't have to be perfect to share. The key is to care and do the best you can. Connect with others, seeing their needs as your own. King David declares: Olam Chesed Yibane – the world is built through kindness. That is the essence of Judaism and Spirituality

PROFOUND NOT TO BE IGNORED and don't be impatient

Be Mindful Of The Effects Of Impatience

Being on the receiving end of someone else's impatience gives us a first-hand experience of what others experience if we are impatient with them.

Doesn't it feel distressful to be rushed by an impatient clerk? Isn't it irritating when someone you call up for instructions or to register a complaint is too impatient to hear you out? Isn't it annoying when you're going as fast as you can and someone yells, "Hurry up already!"

An amazing letter from an Israeli reservist!-INTERESTING, from such Young Man and on the right road in Hawaii

On the Right Road

Rabbi Simcha Zissel of Kelm used to say that when a person travels to a party which he looks forward to attending, he is happy all the way there in anticipation of having a good time at the party.

Similarly, a person who lives a life of good deeds can be constantly happy, knowing that he is traveling along the road to everlasting pleasure.

Speaking of travels and being on the right road here are:

Latest Ayatollah ramblings against Israel

Love Yehuda

This is a must read that defines what is truly happening along the borders of Israel. A very sad and inhuman account of the atrocities perpetuated today among those of the human race.

Subject: FW: :An amazing letter from an Israeli reservist!

Shalom,

The letter below was sent to us by our son Aron who is doing IDF reserve duty on the Egyptian border. I would humbly comment that it would be a Kiddush Hashem for the world to see this. Please feel free to pass it on to whomever you please, including to the editors of newspapers.
Thank you,
Marilyn & Josh Adler

My name is Aron Adler.

I am 25 years old, was born in Brooklyn NY, and raised in Efrat Israel. Though very busy, I don't view my life as unusual. Most of the time, I am just another Israeli citizen. During the day I work as a paramedic in Magen David Adom, Israel's national EMS service. At night, I'm in my first year of law school. I got married this October and am starting a new chapter of life together with my wonderful wife Shulamit.

15-20 days out of every year, I'm called up to the Israeli army to do my reserve duty. I serve as a paramedic in an IDF paratrooper unit. My squad is made up of others like me; people living normal lives who step up to serve whenever responsibility calls. The oldest in my squad is 58, a father of four girls and grandfather of two; there are two bankers, one engineer, a holistic healer, and my 24 year old commander who is still trying to figure out what to do with his life. Most of the year we are just normal people living our lives, but for 15-20 days each year we are soldiers on the front lines preparing for a war that we hope we never have to fight.

This year, our reserve unit was stationed on the border between Israel, Egypt and the Gaza Strip in an area called "Kerem Shalom." Above and beyond the "typical" things for which we train – war, terrorism, border infiltration, etc., - this year we were confronted by a new challenge. Several years ago, a trend started of African refugees crossing the Egyptian border from Sinai into Israel to seek asylum from the atrocities in Darfur.

What started out as a small number of men, women and children fleeing from the machetes of the Janjaweed and violent fundamentalists to seek a better life elsewhere, turned into an organized industry of human trafficking. In return for huge sums of money, sometimes entire life savings paid to Bedouin "guides," these refugees are promised to be transported from Sudan, Eritrea, and other African countries through Egypt and the Sinai desert, into the safe haven of Israel.

We increasingly hear horror stories of the atrocities these refugees suffer on their way to freedom. They are subject to, and victims of extortion, rape, murder, and even organ theft, their bodies left to rot in the desert. Then, if lucky, after surviving this gruesome experience whose prize is freedom, when only a barbed wire fence separates them from Israel and their goal, they must go through the final death run and try to evade the bullets of the Egyptian soldiers stationed along the border. Egypt's soldiers are ordered to shoot to kill anyone trying to cross the border OUT of Egypt and into Israel. It's an almost nightly event.

For those who finally get across the border, the first people they encounter are Israeli soldiers, people like me and those in my unit, who are tasked with a primary mission of defending the lives of the Israeli people. On one side of the border soldiers shoot to kill. On the other side, they know they will be treated with more respect than in any of the countries they crossed to get to this point.

The region where it all happens is highly sensitive and risky from a security point of view, an area stricken with terror at every turn. It's just a few miles south of the place where Gilad Shalit was kidnapped. And yet the Israeli soldiers who are confronted with these refugees do it not with rifles aimed at them, but with a helping hand and an open heart. The refugees are taken to a nearby IDF base, given clean clothes, a hot drink, food and medical attention. They are finally safe.

Even though I live Israel and am aware through media reports of the events that take place on the Egyptian border, I never understood the intensity and complexity of the scenario until I experienced it myself.

In the course of the past few nights, I have witnessed much. At 9:00 PM last night, the first reports came in of gunfire heard from the Egyptian border. Minutes later, IDF scouts spotted small groups of people trying to get across the fence. In the period of about one hour, we picked up 13 men - cold, barefoot, dehydrated - some wearing nothing except underpants. Their bodies were covered with lacerations and other wounds. We gathered them in a room, gave them blankets, tea and treated their wounds. I don't speak a word of their language, but the look on their faces said it all and reminded me once again why I am so proud to be a Jew and an Israeli. Sadly, it was later determined that the gunshots we heard were deadly, killing three others fleeing for their lives.

During the 350 days a year when I am not on active duty, when I am just another man trying to get by, the people tasked with doing this amazing job, this amazing deed, the people witnessing these events, are mostly young Israeli soldiers just out of high school, serving their compulsory time in the IDF, some only 18 years old.

The refugees flooding into Israel are a heavy burden on our small country. More than 100,000 refugees have fled this way, and hundreds more cross the border every month. The social, economic, and humanitarian issues created by this influx of refugees are immense. There are serious security consequences for Israel as well. This influx of African refugees poses a crisis for Israel. Israel has yet to come up with the solutions required to deal with this crisis effectively, balancing its' sensitive social, economic, and security issues, at the same time striving to care for the refugees.

I don't have the answers to these complex problems which desperately need to be resolved. I'm not writing these words with the intention of taking a political position or a tactical stand on the issue.

I am writing to tell you and the entire world what's really happening down here on the Egyptian/Israeli border. And to tell you that despite all the serious problems created by this national crisis, these refugees have no reason to fear us. Because they know, as the entire world needs to know, that Israel has not shut its eyes to their suffering and pain. Israel has not looked the other way. The State of Israel has put politics aside to take the ethical and humane path as it has so often done before, in every instance of human suffering and natural disasters around the globe. We Jews know only too well about suffering and pain. The Jewish people have been there. We have been the refugees and the persecuted so many times, over thousands of years, all over the world.

Today, when African refugees flood our borders in search of freedom and better lives, and some for fear of their lives, it is particularly noteworthy how Israel deals with them, despite the enormous strain it puts on our country on so many levels. Our young and thriving Jewish people and country, built from the ashes of the Holocaust, do not turn their backs on humanity. Though I already knew that, this week I once again experienced it firsthand. I am overwhelmed with emotion and immensely proud to be a member of this nation.

With love of Israel,

Aron Adler writing from the Israel/Gaza/Egyptian border.

This will make you hang onto your seat. Speed and hiking and a jeep

Don't Take Disagreements Personally

When someone disagrees with your ideas, realize that he's not attacking you personally.

This perspective will help you be more open to listen to someone who disagrees with your position.

As an experiment, go an entire week without reacting defensively (unless it is necessary to do so to protect yourself from loss or harm).

How fast are you – Korean War Jeep

About 8  soldiers pull up on a main street in Toms River,NJ= some holiday. They're in a standard issue Korean war type Willys Jeep. In the span of about 5 minutes they completely disassemble the vehicle and reassemble it and drive off in it fully operable! The idea being to show the genius that went into the making of the jeep and its basic simplicity. Fantastic.
