Grow From Your Daily Routine

Character is developed one positive action at a time. Therefore nothing is actually trivial in our lives. To grow in character development, pay attention to seemingly trivial matters. Someone who grows from each minor life event will eventually reach high levels of character perfection.

Today, think about one character trait that you can develop further by paying close attention to a seemingly trivial aspect of your daily routine.

I have a mitzvah opportunity for those that want to help. I have a hard working friend that works as a cleaner here in Jerusalem even though he has a college education in Europe where he is from. He works very hard, but even with his hard work he is not able to pay for his teeth that need to be redone. He needs 6,000 scheckels for his repair and we all know how hard it is to eat with bad teeth and it is hard for him to work with the pain. I have one generous friend that gave him 3,000, 1/2 of what he needs, and I said I would break my rule of normally not sharing such stories of need for him. If you want to help him let me know.

PRESIDENT TRUMP PROCLAIMS MAY 'JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH'

"I call upon all Americans to celebrate the heritage and contributions of American Jews and to observe this month with appropriate programs, activities, and ceremonies."

President Donald Trump declared May to be Jewish American Heritage Month in a press release Friday.

"During Jewish American Heritage Month, we celebrate our nation's strong American Jewish heritage, rooted in the ancient faith and traditions of the Jewish people," Trump said

Trump mentioned that the Jewish people have left "an indelible mark on American culture" through an ethical code and tikkun olam, or repairing the world.

He also stated that Jews came to America to escape persecution and violence, and that American Jews have stood for "human freedom, equality and dignity."

Trump said he plans to celebrate the connection between the Jewish people and the United States with his daughter, Ivanka, and his son-in law, Jared Kushner.

"Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 2017 as Jewish American Heritage Month. I call upon all Americans to celebrate the heritage and contributions of American Jews and to observe this month with appropriate programs, activities and ceremonies," Trump said in closing.

Last week, Israel observed Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Trump signed a proclamation to observe Holocaust remembrance for the week of April 23-28.

Ivanka was in Berlin at the time, as a panelist at the W20 Summit on women's economic empowerment. She took some time to visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the German capital's Holocaust memorial. Ivanka posted about the visit on Instagram, saying, "I am deeply moved by the history of this memorial, honoring the six million European Jews whose lives were taken during the Holocaust."

According to data released last Sunday, US campuses have seen a rise of 45% in antisemitism.

The Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry at Tel Aviv University, in collaboration with the European Jewish Congress, released its Annual Report on Antisemitism for 2016 during a press conference held at the university.

In the report, US campuses were reported to have become hotbeds for Jew-hatred, often under the guise of anti-Zionism and due to increased pro-Palestinian movements, such as BDS on campuses.

MINNESOTA: First female Muslim Legislator -Democrat, of course!- Votes to FORCE life insurance companies to pay-up even if policy holder is a terrorists and killed while committing terror INSIDE U.S.A.! Today's Democrat Party undoubtedly hates America

MINNESOTA: FIRST FEMALE MUSLIM Legislator Votes To Make Life Insurance Companies Do The UNTHINKABLE For Dead Terrorists [VIDEO]

The first female Muslim legislator in America says that President Trump is a "fascist" (See video below). She also states that the Americans who voted for Trump were motivated by "hate." But apparently, voting to force life insurance companies to pay benefits to terrorists who are killed in the act of committing terror in the United States is an "act of love?" in Democrat Rep. Omar's eyes…

She burst on the scene last August when she upset a 44-year incumbent Democrat in the Minnesota state primary elections to become the nation's first female Muslim state legislator.

Ilhan Omar, the 34-year-old community organizer who came to America as a refugee from Somalia, was touted by Democrats as a model success story.

"From a refugee camp to the State Capitol with intelligence and insight," beamed former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, who endorsed Omar. "This is a wonderful story to tell as Americans, and a great source of pride for the state of Minnesota's open arms."

But on Thursday Omar made her mark in another way.

She was one of only two members of the Minnesota State House to vote against a bill that would allow life insurance companies to deny payouts to the beneficiaries of terrorists who die in violent attacks on Americans.

Omar, who represents the heavily immigrant Cedar Riverside area of Minneapolis, was joined by fellow Democratic Rep. John Lesch of St. Paul in voting against the bill.

Omar's vote sticks out because at least 42 Somali refugees have been confirmed by the FBI to have left the U.S. to join overseas terrorist organizations, including al-Shabab, the al-Qaida affiliate in Somalia, and ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Dozens of other Somali-Americans have been tried and/or convicted of providing material support to overseas terrorists.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul area is home to the nation's largest Somali refugee community.

The Minnesota insurance bill was introduced by Rep. Joe Hoppe, R-Chaska, in response to Syed Farook's jihadist rampage in San Bernardino, California, in December 2015 in which he shot and killed 14 people and injured 22 at an office Christmas party. Farook made sure his life insurance policies worth $275,000 were valid before conducting the deadly shooting with help from his wife, Tashfeen Malik.

After Farook died in a shootout with police, his mother fought to remain the beneficiary of the life insurance policies. The insurance company balked and the case has gone to court.

Democratic Rep. Debra Hilstrom said the goal of the Minnesota bill "is to make certain that folks don't benefit [from terrorism] and this limits the beneficiary to the premiums that were paid in. It limits the exposure for the insurance company when someone is committing an act of terrorism." –WND

MN State Rep. Ilan Omar (D) says President Trump is a "fascist" and that after the elections (not counting her election of course, where MN residents voted to elect the first female Muslim legislator) she was left feeling "betrayed" by "our America." She also states that she believes Americans voted for "despair, hate and divisiveness" when they voted for Donald Trump.

69th Birthday of Israel was full of anticipation for the upcoming visit of Trump

Appreciate Constructive Criticism

A truth seeker will want others to correct him if they see that he is doing something wrong. The more of a truth seeker you are, the more you will actually love criticism.

Of course, everyone prefers praise. But criticism will help us grow. If the criticism is valid, we gain by listening to it regardless of whether it's presented in a sensitive manner. If someone criticizes you in a painful way, use that as a lesson to be careful in giving others negative feedback.

The place in the alphabet of a letter determines if numerical value for the purpose of what is called gematria. Gematria compares the numerical value of words to see if they are related.

Both honey (Davash in Hebrew) and Muser (criticism in Hebrew) share the same Gematria telling us that a wife should give criticism with honey if she wants results.

A great day in the US on Vice President Pence speech to Rebublican Jewish Congress

Happy Birthday by Shalom Pollock

It is Independence day;our sixty ninth. Not bad for a tiny country smaller than Lake Michigan  under threat of annihilation every day of  each those years.

The stats are nothing short of miraculous.

Israel boasts the  best milk cows in the world; same for wheat production per acre, dates per tree..and the unbelievable list  goes on  This tiny desert land  and its people break the mold. It is an anti history phenomenon.

I met a group of Vietnamese at the Kotel last month. This was  the first group I have ever seen in Israel from that country.
I mentioned that to one of them. He said," No we are no tourists. We are a group of selected farmers here to  learn about farming from Israel."
They are  a country of one hundred million, farmers for millenia with the best soil in the world and they come to learn farming  from a handful of Jewish desert farmers who just returned to the soil very recently...

Shall we talk high tech? No need. We all know that  Israel is a high tech super power .
Medicine? water technology..?optics, software, nano space technology, miniature satellite innovation?

Israel's emergency aid teams are always first on the scene to help when natural disasters strike.

The world is witness that indeed a  hand full of Jews fulfill the Biblical statement that the Jews will indeed be a blessing for the world.

So why does Iran want  to destroy us. Our Arab neighbors? Why the hate  from Europe? Why does the family of nations  at the UN have it in for us?  Why? Why?.

This too has been prophesied, just as the ingathering of the exiles  has been prophesied.
It is all  unfolding very quickly and it is exciting.

I just finished guiding a group of six Chinese young professionals. They were a high tech. bunch and very curious about the tiny country they chose to visit.

Some takeaways:

They said that the Chinese and the Jews are the smartest people on earth.

They feel that Israel and China has much in common; strong family ties, very long traditions and history, not understood by the world, surrounded and threatened by enemies.
I thought the last one was cute.

They do not care much for Arabs or Muslims. They see them as backwards and crude. (Don't blame me!)
I do not see Sharia law being discussed in China for some time or  them  being woken by Mosque loudspeakers (as I  am) in the near future.

They understand that their country is not a democracy but "only a strong leadership can keep China united and prevent civil war. Interesting.
They do not know much about Tienanmen Square other than  that "outsider instigators" were trying to weaken China through the students.
I did not even mention Tibet.
They are very proud of their country's accomplishments and accept the price paid in the lack of western style freedoms.

Mao is a national hero who saved and united China. The cultural revolution was a mistake in which Mao was misguided by advisors.
Sixty million dead was not a good thing  but  nothing is perfect.
These are the thoughts of my young  Chinese professionals.

They reminded me of a story I heard a few years ago.
An Israeli general was invited for an official visit to China. He commented to his Chinese counterpart that he is jealous of china. Why? asked his host.
Because as  huge as your country is, you would fight forever and not relinquish even one grain, right? Of Course answered the Chinese general.
Well, my tiny country is trying its best to give away huge parts of it...

This made me ask myself," are the Jews and Chinese really the two smartest people in the world..?"

Somebody is looking after us out there;  sometimes despite ourselves.

The first sixty nine years are always the most challenging.
It only gets better.
Happy birthday to  you; you little miracle!.

Voices of Heartbreak: Memorial Day at OneFamily

OneFamily's annual Memorial Day ceremony was filled with moving speeches and heartfelt testimonies. To help you experience the emotions that spread from heart to heart all evening, from the siren to the singing of Hatikvah, we put the highlights together in a short video. .

This year's speakers included:

  • Yael Weissman – Widow of Tuvia Yania, killed in a stabbing attack on February 16, 2016 at a supermarket trying to save people from the terrorists.
  • Reut Ya'alomi – Bereaved sister of Netanel, killed when terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers along the Israel-Egypt border on September 21, 2012.
  • Tzachi Krigman – Bereaved father of Shiomit, stabbed to death in Beit Horon on January 25, 2016.
  • Malcha Kalangel – Bereaved mother of Yochai, an IDF soldier  killed in an ambush near the Lebanon border on January 28, 2015.
  • Ofir Sha'er – Bereaved father of Gilad, who was kidnapped and killed alongside Eyal Yifrah and Naftali Frenkel on June 12, 2014.
  • Liel Rubel – Bereaved brother of Bnaya Rubel, killed by a terrorist who infiltrated a tunnel in Israel from Gaza on the second day of Operation Protective Edge on July 19, 2014
  • Ido Ya'ori – Bereaved brother of Amit Yeori, killed in Operation Protective Edge on July 25, 2014.

The ceremony began as a memorial for the children in the OneFamily youth division, but grew in recent years to include the entire family of OneFamily.

Just as Israel moves from the darkness of Memorial Day to the freedom of Independence Day, OneFamily helps families overcome the despair of terror and return to the joy of independence.

Thank you for your earnest care and concern for victims of terror throughout the year.

Lead in Keys a new danger

Rabbi Yehuda Lave from Jerusalem
Develop Patience

The Talmud (Shabbos 31a) relates how someone tried to get the great sage Hillel angry by continually interrupting him on Friday afternoon when he was in the middle of bathing for Shabbos. Although the man asked Hillel ridiculous and irrelevant questions, Hillel answered him patiently.

The Talmud says we all need to strive to reach this level of humility. That is, we are all obligated to work on ourselves to develop the total patience of Hillel whom no one could anger.

This is one reson the Torah commands us to marry. Dealing with a spouse teaches us increased levels of patience. May G-d grant me a spouse that loves me and I love her and the patience to deal with her.

Love Yehuda Lave

As is well known, there is a minhag to make shlissel challah for the Shabbos after Pesach. Shlissel challahs are best known as a segulah for parnassah, although there are other several reasons for baking a challah with a key in it. However, some have raised health concerns regarding this minhag. Keys have been found to leave behind unsafe amounts of lead, leading some to suggest that the practice of placing keys in challahs in making shlissel challah may present a danger.

Brass is a soft metal, so lead is added to give keys more strength. Some keys have a silver-colored nickel coating over top the brass, but this wears away. Sucking on car keys is dangerous. Even handling car keys can leave lead on one's hands. Not all keys are brass; some are aluminum and are lighter weight.

Never give a child real car keys or brass items to play with. Adults should wash hands after handling keys or other brass items, especially if pregnant.

Don't mess with IsraeliTechnology! The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners. It's an armored booth you step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on your person.

Israel sees this as a win-win situation for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling. (and the best part) It will also eliminate the costs of long and expensive trials.

You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter, an announcement: "Attention to all standby passengers, El Al is proud to announce a seat available on Flight 670 to London."

Shalom!
