Serene Time Management

Serene time management is a balance between two extremes. Some people are overly lax about time. They tend to come late even for important meetings. Others are overly concerned about being on time. They dread being late for anything and this creates a heightened level of tension whenever they must be on time or complete a task by a specific deadline.

Those who are lax about being on time create stress for others. Those who are overly concerned about being exactly on time often create stress for themselves when circumstances beyond their control prevent them from being on time. The ideal to strive for is to remain serene, yet consider it important to be on time and to finish tasks and projects by the time that you or others designate for them.

SEARCHING FOR GOD IN THE GARBAGE

It is not a secret that the US is one of the leading countries when it comes to eating disorders.... In the country with insatiable appetites overall satisfaction with life is extremely low…Why is this happening? Meet a Harvard graduate and the author of 37 (!) books Bracha Goetz for this thought-provoking interview on Searching for God in the Garbage.

Joie De Vivre, Living With A Ravenous Thirst For Life: "We forget that we are souls." With Author Bracha Goetz and Dr. Marina Kostina

We forget that we are souls. We are souls clothed in bodies, but because our souls are invisible, we tend to forget that at our core, we are spiritual beings. That is our essence — who we really are — but we can ignore that. And in the United States, it is easy to forget about our souls and get drawn after temporary and artificial pleasures, as there are loads of options from which our eyes can choose. But the more time we spend becoming aware that we are souls that thrive on spiritual nourishment, the more lasting fulfillment and deep joy we can bring into our lives.

Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, unchallenged, and have nothing to look forward to? It doesn't have to be that way. One idea that I always advise my clients is the concept of "Stop pushing the pain away and see it as the guide to your life purpose"

As a society, we are hardwired to sit on our tush in a comfortable lethargy. I invite you to start EXPERIENCING your life, rather than observing it, getting used to the uncomfortable and finding the deepest inspirations in your pain. We grow from the dark much more and faster than we do from the light and often our deepest gifts (and the source of our passion, pleasure and joy) are located where it hurts the most. Life purpose is a waltz between pain, pleasure, play

For me, all my trials and tribulations resulted in the most incredible outcome- finding my life purpose and aligning my entire life around it. Once I did that my business took off, my lifestyle changed and, most importantly, I started living a passionate, joyful life. I started TRULY trusting myself. While before I outsourced my reasons for happiness outside of myself to online courses that promised to give me love overnight or make me rich in a click of a button, to gurus that were telling me how to live my life and lead my business, to magical objects or juju, now I use these means as supplementary help, not as my guide as I have found my own internal compass that is never wrong and is ALWAYS working for me.

As a part of our series interviewing experts on how to live a "ravenous life" — a life filled with the passion, pleasure, playfulness and abundance that come naturally to those who dare to be authentic, I had the pleasure of interviewing Bracha Goetz. Bracha Goetz is not your typical Harvard grad, as she's the author of 37 simply written spiritual picture books. Her books are designed to make life's deepest concepts clear so each uniquely beautiful soul can shine. Bracha is also the author of the candid new memoir for adults, Searching for God in the Garbage, that chronicles Bracha's path to discovering a life full of joy and meaning. All of her books are found here: http://www.amazon.com/author/spiritualkidsbooks-brachagoetz.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Once upon a time, I attended an exclusive garden party at Harvard with people from the Kennedy family and others who seemed to be the most up and coming powerful people around. I had been trying to get to that kind of an elite spot for years, but when I finally got all the way "up there," it wasn't all that interesting after all. And when it started raining on the party, it suddenly became clear that there had to be something even more powerful beyond this.

My career path involves sharing the clarity that I have been blessed to experience with both young and old so that people don't have to waste time chasing after elusive mirages. Then they can also spend more time enjoying those things that bring the greatest and most lasting pleasure in life.

What does it mean for you to live "on purpose"? Can you explain? How can one achieve that?

I searched from age 12 to age 22, with increasing desperation, for the purpose to life. I experimented with involvement in different religions, drugs, relationships, social action, environmentalism, and secular education during my search. It didn't make sense to me that life was purposeless, so I put a lot of curious energy into exploring what the purpose could possibly be. When I finally got to learn ancient wisdom from my very own heritage in depth, I began to actualize the wisdom by integrating it into both my body and my soul. To put it simply, we live on purpose when our bodies and souls are in sync. That is how we get to rejoice in life's ultimate pleasures.

Do you have an example or story in your own life of how your pain helped to guide you to finding your life's purpose?

While at Harvard as an undergraduate, I did groundbreaking research projects on women and eating disorders which were included in a textbook that was eventually used in women's studies classes across the US. But while I was doing this, I was getting sicker from food addictions myself. After graduating, I went on to medical school where I was studying to become a psychiatrist, but all the intellectual understanding that I had, was not helping me get better. Years later I had an epiphany about this that is documented in the memoir. The ravenous hunger was relentless because no amount of food could ever fill the emptiness within. It was really a ravenous and vital quest for the sweetness of spiritual well-being that could fill the emptiness in my soul. But I didn't know that back then.

You see, I believe that one important purpose of my life is to share that there is a spiritual basis to addictions, including food addictions, which are one of the most common and basic types of addictions. In other words, there is a far deeper reason for food addictions than just "emotional eating." My thesis is that we tend to develop addictions to escape from the pain our hungry souls are experiencing, when they are starving for spiritual nourishment.

The United States is currently rated at #18 in the World Happiness Report. Can you share a few reasons why you think the ranking is so low?

We forget that we are souls. We are souls clothed in bodies, but because our souls are invisible, we tend to forget that at our core, we are spiritual beings. That is our essence — who we really are — but we can ignore that. And in the United States, it is easy to forget about our souls and get drawn after temporary and artificial pleasures, as there are loads of options from which our eyes can choose. But the more time we spend becoming aware that we are souls that thrive on spiritual nourishment, the more lasting fulfillment and deep joy we can bring into our lives.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I try to write the kind of books that I would have wanted to read when I was a young child so that each uniquely beautiful soul can shine from very early on in life. And now, with the publication of my memoir, I am grateful that I am also able to help adults' souls to shine more brightly too.

What are your 6 strategies to help you face your day with exuberance, "Joie De Vivre" and a "ravenous thirst for life"? Can you please give a story or example for each?

  1. When we first awaken, ancient Jewish wisdom guides us to express gratitude that we, as souls, were given another day of life to enjoy this world. It's a wonderful way to begin each day.
  2. Spending even a few precious moments being in nature helps a soul to shine with exuberance. Savoring moments by pausing to look at the world with wonder again is delightful. And even when sitting at a desk indoors, just taking the time to become more aware of one's breath by breathing more slowly can enhance one's sense of wonder.
  3. No matter how lonely a person may be feeling, one can always find someone even lonelier. When we reach out and brighten someone else's day, we know how it brightens our own life too. There are people in assisted living residences and nursing homes that never get any visitors. There are children who love having books read to them in shelters and preschools. There are abandoned animals that enjoy company too.
  4. Movement can be very helpful and so can music. Together, they form a joyful way to dance through life. Involving our bodies in joyous movement also somehow helps our soul power to rev up too.
  5. Ingesting healthful things assists in keeping positive energy flowing in a natural way. And when we ingest more that is natural and healthy into our bodies, we tend to want to put more good stuff into our souls as well.
  6. Ending our day with gratitude is a wonderful practice. Counting even just a few of the gifts in our life before we go to sleep at night creates a calm and lovely feeling. But throughout the day, it is a joy to do it too. There is even a blessing I learned to say after going to the bathroom, expressing gratitude that our bodies are working well. It helps us to not take things like that for granted quite as much.

Developing an attitude of gratitude definitely fills us with "Joie De Vivre." And since we can't feel misery and gratitude at the same moment, we get to pick which one we want to experience any given moment.

Do you have any favorite books, podcasts, or resources that most inspired you to live with a thirst for life?

It was Rabbi Noach Weinberg's teachings that opened my mind up tremendously. And his writing and classes can be found online. I remember when I first heard him explain that the purpose of life is to experience the greatest pleasure possible. What an expansive concept! What a joyful and liberating way to look at life! It's surprising to hear that because it sounds hedonistic at first, but the greatest pleasure possible comes from nourishing our souls so that they can shine with their full radiance, illuminating our world.

Can you please give us your favorite "Life Lesson Quote" that relates to having a Joie De Vivre? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

It's my pleasure! Here is one of the most practical takeaways from Searching for God in the Garbage that I love to share because it has become an enlightening habit ingrained in my life. The next time you are in the midst of overeating, try asking yourself this one simple question, "Is it my body that is hungry or my soul?"

With the newfound awareness that question immediately brings to the surface, you can then start thinking about calling or texting someone lonely, stepping outside to breathe in some nature, getting up and stretching to music you love, focusing on the blessings in your life — or doing whatever it is that fills your hungry soul. Why does this work immediately? Because when we are overeating, it is our souls that are in need of more pleasure in life, not our stomachs. Suddenly that bottomless bag of potato chips stops calling your name so persistently, and you are free to bring the far greater pleasure that is genuinely needed into your life!

Are you working on any exciting new projects now? How do you think that will help people?

This is my new project! Spreading this game-changing, yet very simple message: what we are meant to do is enjoy life as much as possible! And each of us is blessed with the soul power to experience, savor, and spread that joy.

You are a person of great influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. :-)

I want this message to be shared everywhere, especially where it is needed most — with prisoners, with addicts, with nursing home residents, with patients in hospitals, with all those children who have been abused and neglected, with everyone whose soul has been covered with so much garbage that they barely know it's still there. But it is still there. And what's miraculous, is that our souls remain as pure — and as resilient — as ever. It's there, patiently or maybe not so patiently, waiting to shine. And all we have to do is ignite that tiny spark with joy.

ROSEANNE BARR: BDS IS A NAZI-STYLE BOYCOTTER OF JEWS

I attented this event on Sunday night

At Jerusalem event, actress is defiant over her "racist tweet" and calls for anti-Zionist Jews to be censored BY AMY SPIRO

Roseanne Barr railed against foes of the Jewish state in a sweeping and defiant speech in Jerusalem on Sunday night.

Barr said anti-Zionist Jews should be censored, said Hamas has representatives in Congress, called for Jews to pray on the Temple Mount and said BDS is a Nazi-style boycott during her address.

The actress spoke at an event titled "Hollywood and Hasbarah" at the Begin Center in Jerusalem, alongside her friend and mentor Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and Labor MK Hilik Bar.

Barr opened her speech - a not-so-fashionable 45 minutes late - by noting that she wrote 19 other drafts of her address before settling on the final version, which she delivered in front of more than 300 people.

The event was originally slated to be held in a room at the Knesset, but that idea was nixed less when - less than 48 hours after the speech was announced - the Knesset dispersed ahead of elections on April 9. Bar (no relation) explained that Knesset bylaws prevent him holding an event in the Knesset during an election season.

At times emotional and at times outraged, Barr used her speech to recount moments from her childhood, spoke about her love of studying Torah and her conversations with God, and railed against ABC for firing her from her hit TV show, Roseanne, last year.

"I was silenced because I was defending Israel," said Barr on Sunday, repeating something she told The Jerusalem Post earlier this month. "It was one tweet, one line out of a three-month conversation with people all over the world, specifically people in Iran... the most important freedom we have which is freedom of speech, and freedom to explain your tweet."

Her voice shaking, Barr added: "I have in my life, stood up for what is right, and what is so painful to me is that I would have my tweet misconstrued.... it hurt me very badly that anyone would think that I would make a racial slur at someone, because that is in no way what I ever intended."

While for months Barr took an apologetic tone after her firing, on Sunday she was fiery and unrepentant. When an Israeli reporter asked Barr if she wanted to apologize for the tweet, she berated him for spreading fake news, said he was the real racist in the room and called him a terrible person.

Barr's fall from Hollywood grace last year was swift and merciless. Less than 24 hours hours after she tweeted that former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett was the result if "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby," Barr's smash hit revival Roseanne was canceled by ABC.

It was far from Barr's first inflammatory tweet, but it was the final straw for ABC executives who said the tweet was "abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values." At other times Barr tweeted the false claim that Chelsea Clinton is married to a nephew of George Soros and that Soros is a Nazi who turned in his fellow Jews - a long debunked antisemitic trope. She also once told Haaretz's Rogel Alpher to "stfu privileged fat skinhead"; called Hillary Clinton an antisemite and said her top aide, Huma Abedin was "a filthy Nazi whore"; and said that she hopes "all the Jews leave UC Davis & then it gets nuked" after the university voted in favor of BD

U.S. comedian Roseanne visits Jerusalem

Speaking in Jerusalem on Sunday, Barr said BDS is "an actual boycott of Jewish businesses worldwide. It's a Nazi boycott.... and they never stop. If they don't win for a while, they take 70 years off and they always come back. That is our history - every 70 years a generation will rise up against us."

She also said that the BDS movement is driven by those who want to see conflict continue, and who profit off of ongoing war.

"It's just to keep people fighting so we don't watch when they are unloading their trucks of money and driving away," she said.
In her often rambling remarks, Barr recounted her childhood growing up Jewish in Utah, said her Hebrew name is Shayna Rivka and said she would talk to God as a child.

"If you have a vision from heaven or from something higher than this earth, they do think you're crazy," she said. "But I did. And I heard someone talking to me. And that voice told me you'll be alright, you'll live... I had an imaginary friend, like many children, but mine was God. And I did talk to God all the time."

Barr said today she studies Torah and Kabballah, quoted the Zohar, and said her goal is to visit every mikva in the State of Israel.

"I'm a religious Jew," she said. "I'm a real Jew Jew. And tonight I'm speaking as a Jewish grandmother, from the holiest city in the world to me, which is Jerusalem. My hope is that someday soon I will be able to pray at the holiest site in the world, free of arrest - because it is against international law for a Jew to pray at the Temple Mount. Now why is that?"

It is not against international law for Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, but it is against the status quo enforced by both Israeli and Jordanian officials.

Later, while sitting and speaking to Boteach and Bar, the conversation turned toward American politics. When Barr said she voted for Trump ("he's good for the Jews"), the Jerusalem crowd erupted with applause. She also, in a conversation referencing two new congresswomen - Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib - said they were "Hamas in Congress." She then, despite Boteach's protests, said that there are no Democrats in Congress who support Israel.

Despite speaking passionately earlier in the evening about the freedom of speech, Barr took a different tone later, while taking questions.

"The Jews who are out there turning on Israel, who align with people who say they're going to genocide us, and drive us into the sea... those Jews need to be censored. They need to be confronted. And they're in all leadership roles. They lull us into a false sense of security. Don't be tricked."

You can experience love from others ONLY if you feel love for yourself. If you do not love, accept and appreciate yourself, you will simply not experience its existence. Without self-acceptance, your brain will discount, dismiss and delete any words of appreciation and love that you do get."

Today is my Mother's Yahrseit. Her entire family was murdered in Germany, but she escaped as a child to the United States to give me life. I have always been in fear of going to Germany, but I married a Czech girl (who although she is not from Prague), goes back to visit her parents in Czech twice a year. It turns out that where my Mother was born and where here family lived for 500 years before they were murdered, is 368 kilometers from Prague. I am combining going to visit her parents with my first trip to Germany to see where she was born and where the family was. There is a lady there that knew my family and is giving me the grand tour. I am going to Budapest first, because Wizz airlines flies you to Europe for $25 if you buy the ticket at the right time (your suitcase costs $50). I have alwasys heard about how beautiful Budapest is so I am combining many ideas on this trip. Don't worry, the blog will continue as I travel, but I may be a little slower getting back to you. On Saturday night, someone calledthis a "roots" trip.

On my return as usual there will be pictures and reflections on my trip.

Is there baseball in heaven?

Of course you know the famous joke about the two old men (Sam and Max) who loved baseball. They made a pact that who ever would die first would come back and tell the other if there was baseball on Tuesday.

Sam passed on and a week later came back to Max, and said, "I have good news and bad news". The good news is that there is baseball in heaven. The bad news is you are the starting pitcher, next Tuesday.

Watch the highlights from the 2014 Airshow Budapest!

This will be my first visit to Budapest

Damon Kabb 3 months ago Virtually every comment I have read here is hateful and prejudice against Jews. Every culture has its strength, chinese good at mass manufacturing, blacks at sport and germans at precision and Jews in intellectual capacity. So I think it is jealousy and envy to say that it is some conspiracy theory of Jew world domination. That is horse crap. Jews combine intelligence with hard work and helping each other which is what other nations fail to do. Coming from South Africa when one person achieves success he does not help his black brothers but buys a fancy house and car and ignores the plea of his impoverished black brother. Jews help each other. So get off your arse and help each other and work hard and emulate Jewish behaviour instead of bitching about Jews out of hate and jealousy. There are good and bad Jewish people like any other race in the world. To say that any race is all bad is based on prejudism not fact. and btw I have the balls to use my real name and country unlike many of the trolls and spineless twits I read about in comments. Who has the guts to agree.

Baruch Marzel interview with Jewish Press

MEIR KAHANE , THE KNESSET, AND PRIDE PARADES
An Interview with Chevron Activist Baruch Marzel
By Elliot Resnick Jewish Press Chief Editor

Baruch Marzel is a perhaps the most famous far right-wing activist in the world. The right-hand man of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane when he was an MK (1984-1988), Marzel is now running for Knesset next year with the Otzma Yehudit party, having narrowly missed entering the Knesset in previous elections.
Marzel is a resident of the Tel Rumeida section of Chevron and the father of nine. "I would like to have more than nine kids," Marzel says in a short 2016 documentary made about him, "but unfortunately that's what G-d gave us."

He recently spoke to The Jewish Press from Israel.

The Jewish Press: What policies does Otzma Yehudit stand for?
Marzel: It stands for the same things Rabbi Kahane taught us – not to give one inch of the Land of Israel, not to give one inch of Torah, and not to give up on one Jew anywhere in the world. That's one side. The second side is to fight the enemy and expel it from Israel.

Who's leading the party?
Dr. Michael Ben Ari and I. But who's leading it is not the important issue. The ideology is what's important.
Why should a right-wing voter vote for Otzma Yehudit over other nationalist parties like Zehut – led by Moshe Feiglin – for example?
We are the only group that never changed its platform. We are loyal to the same exact things we were loyal to 30 and 40 years ago. We never said [as Feiglin did, that working through] Likud is the way to bring the redemption of Am Yisrael.
What are your chances of making it into the Knesset?
We're getting stronger every day. Everyone in Israel feels Otzma Yehudit everywhere. There's no doubt that we're the strongest group outside the Knesset today.

You ran in several previous elections and came up just short of making it into the Knesset. Why do you think that won't happen again?
We got 126,000 votes last time. We needed a little bit more than 130,000. We'll have to join maybe with another group. We'll see. We're open to everything except compromising our ideology.
In 2015, you had to make some sort of statement disassociating yourself from Rabbi Kahane so that the Supreme Court would allow you to run for Knesset? Were you telling the truth? Did you just say whateve you needed to say to run?

Have you, in fact, abandoned Rabbi Kahane's ideas?
Rabbi Kahane is illegal in Israel, but we're doing everything in a legal way. We're not against the Arabs because they're Arabs. We're against our enemy. Any race that fights the Jewish people we'll fight him and throw him out of Israel. That's what Rabbi Kahane thought, and that's what we think.

But didn't you declare before the Supreme Court that you no longer believe in Rabbi Kahane's ideology?
No. They tried to make me to say it, but I said, "Ask me about my views and I'll tell you," and everything I said was legitimate. I'm the most kosher candidate. I got a hechsher twice by the ultra-left Supreme Court.

Suppose you got in the Knesset and your party started growing to the point that it represented a real threat to the establishment – wouldn't the Knesset ban you just like it banned Rabbi Kahane?
I don't know. But I know what I have to do. We have to show the Jewish people that there is another way. Netanyahu, Lieberman, and Bennett are phony. They're ready to compromise on Eretz Yisrael. They're ready to compromise with our enemy.

Do you quote Rabbi Kahane when you speak or do you have to avoid saying his name?
I quote Rabbi Kahane everywhere I go.
What kind of reaction do you get?
People who forgot who the prime minister was 20 years ago remember Rabbi Kahane and tell us that everything he said was true – that he was a prophet and knew what was going to happen exactly.

You worked alongside Rabbi Kahane for a long time. What was he like as a person?
Rabbi Kahane was the most adin, the most nice, soft person in the world [in his] personal relations – until somebody hurt a Jew or Israel. At that point, Rabbi Kahane became like a lion and started fighting for the Jewish people. [He was like] David Hamelech: When he wrote the Tehillim, he was soft, and when he went to war, he was like a wolf.

You're active in Lehava, which seeks to combat assimilation and intermarriage in Israel. In October, many liberal news outlets were excitedly reporting a celebrity intermarriage between a Muslim and a Jew. What was your take?
There's no doubt that the biggest danger to Judaism in the world is intermarriage. What's happening in America is a spiritual Holocaust, and now it's starting in Israel too. If we don't stop it at the beginning, it will be like in America, chas v'shalom.
Are intermarriages in Israel a growing problem? If yes, what can be done to solve it?

It's a growing problem every day. The main solution is educational, and the second thing is to help girls who currently are going to Arabs because of social problems.
You have also been active in attempts to combat the homosexual lobby, pride parades in Jerusalem, etc. Some people say we've lost this battle and we should just accept the new reality. What's your opinion? I'm not fighting what a person does privately in his house. But we are against parades in the center of the holy city of Yerushalayim. The city of the Temple cannot have these kinds of parades, and that's what the vast majority of Yerushalayim thinks.

But what can be done to stop these parades that hasn't been tried already?
Success only comes with the help of G-d. So we have to continue trying until G-d decides it's time for us to succeed. We're doing everything He wants us to do. We're continuing to try. And thank G-d, we have a lot of support all over Israel.
The [problem] is that to succeed we need a lot of money, which we don't have because we don't sell our ideas for anything.

BAR
Returning to the elections: Many Jews like Netanyahu and think he's a very strong prime minister. Why not just vote for Likud, then? Why vote for Otzma Yehudit?
Netanyahu is the most dangerous prime minister we've ever had. He's a very good politician; he knows how to sell water as if it were gold. But Netanyahu gave 97 percent of Chevron to the terrorists, gave North Shomron to the terrorists, and is the number-one releasing terrorist in Israel.
Netanyahu doesn't know how to be strong against Hamas. He's the best politician and the worst leader. For already 10 years Netanyahu has not let anyone build in Judea and Samaria. Even in Yerushalayim, there have been more Arab houses built than Jewish houses. I'm not even talking about Chevron where even one stone wasn't built.
Netanyahu talks a lot about building, but nothing happens. He is a failure, but politically he knows how to survive. He's a very, very strong politician, and a very, very weak leader.
He makes a very good impression, though, on the international scene and many consider him a very strong leader.
Yes, he's a better foreign minister than a prime minister. But even there, to succeed he [makes concessions].
Some people claim that everyone compromises on their hawkish principles once they're in power. What do you say to that argument?
We are different. If we were willing to compromise, we would have been members of the Knesset – maybe even members of the government – a long time ago. But we aren't.

See you tomorrow
