VERY RARE PHOTOS. and Pray one step at a time

Pray One Step at a Time

Prayer is an excellent training ground for practicing control of one's thoughts. Some people give up hope on concentrating during the set prayers because they feel they are so long with  so much to say, and they find it hard to concentrate for so long. Rabbi Nachman of Breslov offered the following advice: When external thoughts come to you during prayers, ignore them. Don't try to fight them, since the more you battle them the more they will bother you. Make up your mind to concentrate on just a few pages. By using this process you can get some prayers done each time. Every time more will be done with more  practice.

Yesterday Rabbi Marx, taught a class from the book of Chronicles. We learned that King David, who spent a life dealing with challenges, focused on what he had, not what he didn't.

An excellent opportunity of practiing to control one's thoughts, like we attempt to do with praying one step at a time.
