The surprised winner told Hebrew media that he had never filled out lottery tickets before, and only decided to buy one now because he saw the unusually high prize sum. "I saw commercials about the high prize and decided, for the first time in my life, to fill out a lottery ticket," he said. "The moment I saw the winning numbers I knew that they looked familiar. I felt a kind of 'light' that I can't explain." Describing his process for filling out the winning ticket, he said he barely gave it any thought and had only just been explained the rules moments earlier. "I was in a hurry, so I invented a quick 'method' and only marked one primary number while letting the lottery machine choose the rest of the numbers in each row," he said. "I'm not really sure what I did, but it certainly worked." After realizing he had won, the excited winner woke up his wife to share the news with her. Illustrative. She didn't really understand at first… despite the late hour I immediately called my close family to tell them the news. I couldn't sleep. The adrenalin didn't allow me to. My wife and I were sitting in the living room and talking until 6 a.m.," he said. Despite the excitement, the winner did not immediately go to collect his prize. Instead, he went to work as usual and only went to hand in his ticket on Sunday afternoon. When asked by Channel 13 what he planned to do with the money, he said: "We don't lack for anything. My career provides for my family and we're content with our lifestyle. But there's always room for improvement, and one thing is sure — we will secure the future of our children and our families." Gambling is mostly illegal in Israel, with the exceptions of betting services offered by Israel's national lottery institute, Mifal HaPais, and The Israeli Sports Betting Council. In the weekly lottery game offered by Mifal HaPayis, participants choose six numbers out of 37 and an additional one primary number out of seven. The maximum prize is paid for matching all of them. This is too good not to share. I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following: 1. After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, and my friends, I have now started loving myself. 2. I have realized that I am not "Atlas". The world does not rest on my shoulders. 3. I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter's school fees. 4. I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am. 5. I stopped telling the elderly that they've already told that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past. 6. I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection. 7. I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You." 8. I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances. 9. I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do. 10. I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race. 11. I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It's my emotions that make me human. 12. I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas, with relationships, I will never be alone. 13. I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last. 14. I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be! I decided to share this with all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age? Sadly, when they are obvious it is often too late. Ensuring all you can do to help prevent the condition is pertinent for most and could mean a drastic sleep overhaul due to a study's surprising link. By Jessica Knibbs Dementia refers to a cluster of symptoms associated with brain decline. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer's disease, a brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills. One study has delved into certain habits in middle age and how it could increase the early onset of the condition. A study led by Doctor Séverine Sabia of Inserm and University College London examined how sleep patterns earlier in life may affect the onset of dementia decades later. The study was supported in part by NIH's National Institute on Ageing (NIA) and appeared in Nature Communications. The researchers examined data from nearly 8,000 people in the UK starting at age 50. Participants were assessed on a wide variety of measures, including being asked on six occasions between 1985 and 2016 how many hours they slept a night. To assess the accuracy of this self-reporting, some of the participants wore accelerometers to objectively measure sleep time. Over the course of the study, 521 participants were diagnosed with dementia, at an average age of 77. The results of the study showed that people in their 50s and 60s getting six hours of sleep or less were at greater risk of developing dementia later in life. Compared to those getting normal sleep (defined as seven hours), people getting less rest each night were 30 percent more likely to be diagnosed with dementia. 10 of the worlds's scariest roads 1. Tianmen Mountain Road, China For fans of films like Tokyo Drift, The Fast and the Furious, perhaps a street like this will imagine a car drifting leisurely. Of course, this road is not for people who have little guts with very sharp turns. 7. Transfagarasan, Romania This relaxing and gruesome road requires us to circle between the foothills of the Carpathian mountains. With a cool view but you have to be careful because the street has to be named 'Dare-Devil'. 8. Kardhung La, India If we usually go to the mountain on foot because the steep level is very dangerous using a vehicle, for Indians it is a big shock in itself. The Guinness World Books had to dub the street the "worst highest street". 9. Le Passage du Gois France This road passes through a strait where the tides often occur, so sometimes the road is covered by sea water or the road is dry because the sea water recedes. 10.
