GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS ENGINEERING FACTS and act Joyously

Act Joyously

Act joyously. These two words are powerful. They work. Test it out congruently and see for yourself

 how effective this formula is.

If it's so easy, how come everyone isn't radiating joy? I didn't claim it was easy. It's simple to say,

but the very fact that not everyone consistently applies it shows that it doesn't come naturally to many people. It takes effort. And it also takes belief in the process. You can counteract the effects of acting joyously by holding back or by repeating to yourself, "This won't really work."

"Act with enthusiastic joy and you will actually experience it," was expressed by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto

in his classic work "Path of The Just" written in 1740. Since then many professionals in the field of human

emotions have repeated this formula. It worked then and it still works now. The more flexible someone is with

their emotions, the easier it is for them to apply this. Experiments with biofeedback technology and the testing

of hormones in the blood after acting joyously have proven its effectiveness.

Self help through Torah & Psychology

Recently Rabbi Pliskin and I completed a series on Controlling your Anger and finding more Joy in your life. Several people asked for follow-up as to what they could do in their lives for improvement. This follow-up to how to improve your life.

Everyone wants a more peaceful and successful life. The question is what to do? Where do we turn for answers when we have no heroes to turn to do, no leaders that we want to emulate?

In times like these, we must return to our basics to center out lives. When we feel there is no purpose to our lives, we our in a crisis. Dr. Harold Bloomfield, a psychoanalyst in California, put forth the proposition that when we are in a personal crisis, underneath it is always a spiritual crisis. The same concerns that we used to be able to live with our now a crisis, because we have lost faith in G-d.

This is no small matter. What makes humans unique as a species is the fact that we can contemplate our own mortality. Animals don't worry about their short time on this earth, because they don't have the intellectual ability to worry about it. We do. And because we do, at times it causes a crisis in our ability to be functional human beings. The knowledge that we have a limited time to complete our jobs here on the planet can either motivate us our turn us into non-functional beings that are incapable of getting anything done. We must motivate ourselves constantly to appreciate the things we have or we soon turn into callous selfish human beings. And time is the most precious thing of all. A child doesn't feel it yet, but with each ache and wrinkle that calls us to the grave, we start to recognize our limitations. Without a purpose for our lives, we see no hope no meaning.

For thousands of years the Jewish People have seen their mission as G-d's first born nation as that hope and function. The fact that you have chosen to live or visit in Israel is one manifestation of that hope. The Jewish people have survived constant torture and death in their long history, with their faith being the germane reason for their existence. That faith that sustained us in our long march through history can nurture us to today in what is seemingly a G-d less world. It is a principal of psychology that what we see is what we get. If we see a G-d less world, we live in one. If we see a G-d that is loving and nurturing we live in one. One of my friends made a play on my name of Lave (heart in English), and called me Dr. Love. If Love is all we need in this world than I will gladly be Dr. Love to bring this knowledge to the world.

This is why today there is such hope for the interplay between Torah and Psychology. People are cognizant of the fact that the brain has been studied enough to be able to accept that a psychologist can help them sort out their problems. If a person accepts the Torah as being divine, obviously as the Ramban said, G-d is the world's greatest psychologist, because he invented the brain and knows how it works. It is only today, however, that we are just beginning to use our psychological science to appreciate how great G-d's wisdom is.

With that new appreciation, we can start to practically apply Torah ideas as the basis for our lives. When it asks in the Mishna as to who is a wise man, and answers as to one who can see the outcome of his or her actions, we can practically apply this to our lives. When we abuse our bodies, we suffer. When we yell at our children, they learn to disrespect us. When we our not in appreciation of all of G-d's gifts, we sometimes loose them. Studying the affects of our outcomes, can lead us to new and improved wisdom.

The purpose of study is learn how to make a more successful life. Those of who spend many hours of our day learning, most realize without application, learning is simply unrealized potential.

Cordially yours,

 Yehuda Lave

WHITE TIGER CUBS and Forgive Fully

Forgive Fully

A person who sincerely fears the Almighty should forgive someone who wronged him when that person

asks for forgiveness. He should do his best to return to the previous state of loving-friendship that existed before the other person erred.

We find in the Torah (Genesis 50:21) that Yosef forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery as soon as they asked his forgiveness. He told them that because he fears G-d they need not worry.

Is there anyone you have not yet forgiven? If yes, imagine that the person has the wisdom and courage to

ask you for forgiveness. Visualize yourself forgiving that person. The next time you encounter that person

act with the friendliness of someone you have forgiven.

When hurricane Hannah separated two white tigers from their mother, Anjana came to the Rescue. Anjana, a chimp at TIGERS in South Carolina , became surrogate mom and playmate to the cubs, even helping with bottle feeding, according to The Sun. But here's the truly amazing part: This is something Anjana does all the time, having helped raise leopard and lion cubs on several occasions.

The Pasta Diet and Correct Faults Inversely

Correct Faults Inversely

In every area that you have a fault, determine what behavior would be diametrically opposed to that fault. For example, someone who tends to be impulsive should slow down and think carefully before taking action. Similarly, someone who has a strong love for money should act in a very generous manner.

What do you consider to be your three greatest faults? Take one of those faults and think about what its opposite would be. Then visualize yourself mastering that positive quality.

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE and Experiencing moments of Joy on this Christmas day 2009

Hotmail didn't like my attachement about Bach so I am sending this again (forgive me if you got it already)

Experiencing Moments of Joy

A person experiencing difficult and challenging life situations won't be happy. But he can still choose to say and do many things that will enable him to experience moments of joy. For example, a person who just lost his job isn't happy about it. He has a mortgage and is worried about how he will make the payments. But while he is thinking about what he can do to support his family and make the payments, he can still take actions that will be a source of meaningful joy. He can help a young child cross a busy street, or he can encourage someone who needs an emotional lift.

When a person makes a blessing before and after eating, he can be joyful that he is connecting with the Infinite and Eternal. He will still need to find solutions to his problems, but the moment of joy will put him in a better frame of mind for thinking more clearly.

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

Please read all the way to the bottom: If you will take the time to read these, I promise you'll come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis:

They're written by Andy Rooney, a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words. Enjoy.......

I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.

I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned.... That we should be glad G-d doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned..... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular

I've learned... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I've learned.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher..

I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost, someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned ..... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom and Dad that I loved them one more time before they passed away.

I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned.... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I 've learned.... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.

I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

The couple who sneaked into the White House without credentials! and Joyful moments

Unique Joyful Moments

Every living person is unique, from his genetic makeup to his personal history. Since you are unique, your past and future moments of joy will be unique to you. You have your own unique style of joy in the present, too.

Some people think about the joy of other people. Then they say, "I'm just not a joyful person. I'm not as outgoing and friendly as some joyful people. I would feel strange to act like some of the joyful people I've seen." Realize that you only need to experience joy in your unique way.

Some extroverts are joyful and some are not. Some introverts are joyful and some are not. Some loud people are joyful and some quiet people are joyful.

Anyone who isn't joyful right now can choose and decide to create more joy in his own unique way.

The old show business and take a walk

Take a Joy Walk

Walking is one of the healthiest and simplest exercises.

When you walk briskly, you breathe more deeply and your mind clears. Your brain produces healthy biochemicals that make you feel better and enable you to think with greater clarity. Walking stimulates creativity, and you might think of better ways to reach goals. Many people take walks to come up with solutions to challenges.

You can utilize your walking time to increase your level of joy. As you walk briskly, repeat to yourself, "With each and every step, I am feeling more and more joy. With each and every step, I am feeling more and more joy. With each and every step, I am feeling more and more joy."

Mindmessers and talking to yourself about other people

Talking to Yourself About Other People

Many of your thoughts are about other people: People you know well and people who are strangers to you, but affect your life in various ways. People you are related to and people you are friends with. People you find easy to deal with and people you find challenging. People you respect and like, and people you are upset with. People who are helpful to you and people you wish to help. People you interact with frequently, and people you meet just once.

The way you view people determines how you get along with them. The Torah (Vayikra 19:18) tells us: "Love other people as yourself." Also, the Sages teach us in Pirkei Avos (4:1): "Who is an honorable person? Someone who honors and respects others." When you love and respect someone, you think about him in positive ways. Your self-talk is about his good qualities. You think about what you can learn from him, and this is the definition of a wise person. As the Sages (Pirkei Avos 4:1) say, "Who is wise? Someone who learns from everyone."

When you associate people with their positive qualities and have positive thoughts and feelings about them, you speak to them more positively. You also act towards them with greater kindness and compassion.

Yes, we need to be aware of the totality of people in order protect ourselves and others. But our major focus should be on what is good and right and admirable about others.

Be strongly resolved to keep your mind focused on the virtues and positive qualities of other people. If your mind happens to think unnecessarily about what is wrong with other people, change your thoughts to what is good and right about them.

Your thoughts about another person create a powerful energy. One of my favorite verses is from Proverbs (27:19). "As in water, face to face, so, too, is the heart of one person to another." When you think positive thoughts about another person, that person will tend to feel positively about you also. The deeper and more profound your thoughts and feelings of unconditional love, the more likely it is that this person will reciprocate.

Pretty Cool

(Don't ask me!  I don't know how it's done!!)

Read out loud the text inside the triangle below.

More than likely you said, 'A bird in the bush,'! and. ........

If this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see that the word THE is repeated twice!
Sorry, look again..

Next, let's play with some words.
What do you see?

In black you can read the word GOOD, in white the word EVIL
(inside each black letter is a white letter).
Now, what do you see?

You may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical,
the blue landscape reads the word illusion. Look again!
Can you see why this painting is called an optical illusion?

What do you see here?

This one is quite tricky!

The word TEACH reflects as LEARN.

Last one.
What do you see?

You probably read the word ME in brown, but.......
when you look through ME
 You will see YOU!
Do you need to look again?

Test Your Brain
This is really cool.
The second one is amazing so please read all the way though.

HOW MANY ?
WRONG, THERE ARE
6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN !

Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.
The brain cannot process 'OF'.

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 'F's' on the first go is a genius.

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Send this to your friends.
It will drive them crazy.!
And keep them occupied for several minutes..!

Giraffe test and Daily Joy Journal

Daily Joy Journal

One of the most effective ways to recall your daily moments of joy is to keep a daily joy journal.

Every day, write down at least a few of your joyful moments. These can be events and situations when you experienced high levels of joy or when you felt sparks of joy. If you do not record them in your journal, these joyful might be easily forgotten. Since you are focusing on creating joyful moments, you will notice them and remember them because you listed them in your joy journal.

Love Yehuda

How
do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

Stop and think about it and decide on your
answer before you scroll down.

The
correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the
door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly
complicated way.

2 )
How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did
you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?

Wrong
Answer.

Correct
Answer: Helloooooo.......remember  the giraffe???? Open the refrigerator,
take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your
ability to think through the repercussions of your previous
actions.

3).
The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the
animals
attend
.... Except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct
Answer : The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in
there. (Don't you remember?) This tests your memory. Okay, even if you did not
answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to
show your true abilities.

4).

There is a river you must cross but it is used
by crocodiles, and
you do not have
a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer:? You
jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening??????? All the
crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn
quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide,
around 90% of the professionals they tested got all questions wrong, but many
preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this
conclusively proves the theory that most professionals do not have the brains of
a four-year-old.

Send
this out to frustrate all of your smart friends.

World's Fastest Cars: and Speak to Yourself Serenely

Speak To Yourself Serenely

You are the person with whom you talk to most often. To become a serene person, consistently talk to yourself serenely.

Become aware of the tone of your voice when you speak to yourself. This often is so automatic that many people never consider it an issue. But it can be a major factor in whether or not you are usually serene.

Happy Hanukah and when to recall memories

Favorite Memories

If you would like to recall your favorite memories, here are some questions to ask yourself:

1. What are five of my favorite memories?

2. How do I feel when I remember them?

3. What are the main patterns of my favorite memories?

4. In what ways will I benefit from recalling these memories more often?

5. When is a good time to recall each of these memories?

6. What can I learn from these memories?

7. What do I lose out by not recalling my favorite memories?

8. What will help me remember to recall my favorite memories more often?

9. What can I do now to create more memories that I would benefit from recalling?

Speaking of memories enjoy this piece by Neil Diamond on the popular piece on Chanukah
