"Yes," Rabbi Elchonon replied. "Although the Chafetz Chaim was imbued with great humility, nevertheless he frequently acknowledged personal responsibility for the spiritual welfare of his entire generation."

| Anti-gender disorientation letter sparks ire Veteran broadcaster reads letter from Lubavitcher Rebbe on religious radio saying one can overcome SSA tendencies, summoned for talk. Mordechai Sones, 08/08/18 11:14
 Veteran radio broadcaster Uri Revach was called yesterday for a talk with the program director of the religious Kann Moreshet radio station, following his reading of a letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe on his program last Saturday evening. As part of the public debate on gender disorientation "pride" events Revach, known to the public as a Chabad Chasid, read a letter the Rebbe wrote to a young man perplexed by his sexual inclinations. In the letter, the Rebbe makes clear in a series of points that it is not a "natural" or irreversible tendency, but rather a matter that can be treated. Among other things the Rebbe writes to the disoriented young man, "Although all blessings derive from G-d, man must do what is required within the natural order. With regard to this problem, you certainly know about doctors and psychiatrists who treat it and who have succeeded in many cases. I know of a number of cases of people who had this problem but in the end they overcame it, married, and established families." The program producer upon hearing the letter experienced feelings of hurt and complained to his superiors. Complaints also arrived from listeners reporting mental distress resulting from the letter's presentation. As a result Revach was summoned for a talk in which the complaints on the subject were noted. Company sources, however, say this was not a reprimand. Revach's friends say that he feels completely comfortable with having read the letter and that, in his opinion, the role of a religious radio station is to voice Torah wisdom in all aspects of life. Jewish self-destruction has a frightening precedent By Zvi November I read the NYT op-ed by Ron Lauder, head of the WJC. His world view is full of misconceptions. First, American secular Jewry needs Israel much more than Israel needs Jewish American help. The secular Jewish community in the US is in an advanced state of disintegration. Forty percent of Jewish women never produce a child. The intermarriage rate is well over 50%. Reform Judaism is little more than another Protestant sect minus Jesus Christ. The basic tenets of Judaism such as kashrut, Sabbath observance, Torah study and fulfilling the 613 mitzvot enumerated in the Torah are mostly ignored because secular Jews are about 95% American and perhaps 5% Jewish. As things stand now, the secular American Jewish community will probably disappear in 100 years despite organizations like the World Jewish Congress and the American Jewish Committee that ISSUE STATEMENTS while doing little. And Jewish self-destruction has a frightening precedent. When World War I broke out in August, 1914 German Jews (both individuals and their organizations) became extremely patriotic. Jews (well-known industrialists, successful businessmen, rabbis, intellectuals like Martin Buber and even Zionists and socialists) strongly supported the war effort. For them, Germany's cause was just and its invasion of neutral Belgium and France as well as the vast eastern territories controlled by barbaric Russia was part of a crusade to spread a far superior German culture. The poor, dirty, decrepit peasants and Yiddish speaking Jews of Russia were going to be uplifted. Both Germans and German Jews were convinced of Germany's military superiority and knew that the war would be over in a few months with Germany taking control of and colonizing vast areas in the East. About 100,000 Jews served in the Kaiser's army. Some 12,000 were killed in action for the Fatherland and many others wounded. Relations with fellow Jews living in Entente countries were severed. Indeed, there were Jews in all of the opposing armies killing each other. However, in the fall of 1916 when things started going badly for Germany a census of Jews was taken because of false rumors that Jews were not shouldering their fair share of the war effort. When Germany surrendered in 1918 lots of people believed that Germany was stabbed in the back and many pointed to the Jews as the culprits. Ron Lauder should read "A Deadly Legacy" (2017) by Tim Grady who teaches history in the UK to learn about German Jewry; its passion to be accepted as full-fledged Germans and its subsequent annihilation 20 years later (highlighted by Kristallnacht, Nov. 9, 1938) because American Jewish behavior today is somewhat similar to German Jewish behavior a hundred years ago. It seems that the only US Jews who will survive the next 100 years are the orthodox (disparaged by Lauder) who both reproduce (mitzvah # 1) and practice Judaism as our forefathers did before the "enlightenment" replaced our traditional Jewish lifestyle/civilization. Lauder discusses the new Israeli nation-state law that the Knesset recently passed by a clear majority. This law is similar to laws in other countries. For instance, Denmark is self-defined as the nation-state of Danes and Lutheranism is its national religion. Everyone knows that Croatia is the nation-state of the Croats and Serbia is the nation-state of the Serbs. Most Arab states with constitutions declare that they are Arab and Islamic Sharia law is the basis of their judicial system and society. The affirmation that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people is crucial because Israel's many enemies and their sympathizers in Europe want to destroy the country. Critics of the nation-state law in one way or another do not accept the idea of a Jewish state especially one that promotes traditional Judaism. These critics advance contrived bogus claims that the law is discriminatory and racist. But this law does not decrease anyone's civil rights and liberties in any way whatsoever. As a small vulnerable country, Israel may not survive the next 100 years. Neither do we know what America will look like in 100 years considering the damage done by Obama. The US is in upheaval and, perhaps, decline. Astute commentators like Dennis Prager, Thomas Sowell and Victor Davis Hanson are just a few of the intelligent voices that explain how the illiberal Left has undermined America's traditional Judeo-Christian values. We can only hope for the best. |

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
* Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent ...
* Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent ..
* Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns ...'
You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.
The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note Americans, before it's too late!
